We came to Watson to get tax advice about our small business. This was over 6 months ago. They never answered our tax questions but they did an ammended return for us that resulted in a $3000 dollar fine from the IRS. Then they did an ammended personal return even though I never requested this nor did I give them permission, when I asked them to cease working for us they replied that we owe them $700 for the personal return or they are sending us to their collection attorneys. We came to them for help, now we are dealing with a financial nightmare.

    Response from the owner

Thank you for your post. Unfortunately we have no record of of you being a client so we consider this post to be fictitious. However, to address any concerns to the rest of the internet public, we cannot file any tax return without permission. And... personal tax returns cannot be electronically filed. They must be paper filed (that will be changing soon acc'd to the IRS). This means that any amended tax return must be signed by the taxpayers before the IRS will accept.

Watson CPA Group has been a huge stress remover from my wife's shoulders. Not only have they made our life easier, but they have also reduced the amount of taxes we've had to pay, and come up with a lifestyle plan that makes paying taxes easier. It's nice to finally be able to just get back to focusing on work and enjoying life; rather than being bogged down with stressing over whether tax issues have been taken care of correctly and on time.

    Response from the owner

Thanks so much Josiah! One of the worst things is for a business owner to have money in the bank, and not know how much is their's and how much is needed for taxes. Yes, tax planning is one of things we do throughout the year so you can budget cash, live your life and not freak out about taxes. Thanks again for the kind words!

Unprofessional when they fail to do their job they are unwilling to own it. My client verified on more than one occasion our relationship. Defend yourself with facts Jason. You dumped my clients best interest due to your personal feelings after making a committment and taking his money. The only way to fix this is to do the right thing for the client you signed up for your services in 2018. Where is the due diligence for him? Filing a complaint with Board of Accountancy. Someone has to be held accountable if Watson wont do it themselves. This Owner Jason, dropped the ball, refused to work with me, and my client is willing to sign a POA allowing me to do my job as bookkeeper. My client (J.H.) has a time limitation to get his money back from the IRS which Watson failed to notify us about and calendar appropriately. We signed with Watson in 2018 to get this money back. When I call you on your negligence to inform me and the client, Dropping me, the client, and his best interests at such a critical moment is anything but ethical. I am certain when I asked for your License Insurance and Bond that is why you decided you could not talk to me and refused to work with me. It has more to do with Pride than due diligence. Do you even have any concern for the client truly? Or is he just a check to you? Stonewalling is not a hero Jason, you are not doing the right things for the right reasons. Own it. Step up. Change your deceptive path And do the Right Thing for the Right Reason.

    Response from the owner

Hey Patricia, thanks for giving us the opportunity to demonstrate our professionalism. You came to us stating you represented a client (name J.H.) in the capacity of a bookkeeper. We attempted to contact J.H. repeatedly to confirm your role and responsibilities. You asked us to stop attempting to communicate with J.H. and to only communicate with you. We declined naturally since we cannot engage nor can we perform work with any client without either a) a durable power of attorney allowing us to do so or b) at least a general meeting of the minds between us, the client and intermediary (such as you). We have several people acting on behalf of others, but we confirm the existence of the relationship and authority. To simply act because you said so without the required due diligence would be considered unprofessional and unethical (not the other way around). That would get us in trouble with the Board (and would also be uncool). Best of luck to you and your bookkeeping services. By the way, we define professionalism as someone who runs towards the problems just like defining a hero as someone who runs towards the danger. We run towards the problems, but only after jumping over the ethical hurdles.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had. I came to them on a reference from another CPA in February and my taxes are still not completed. In fact I will say the person who was working on mine is completely incompetent. Lack of communication and follow through comes quickly to mind. Watson CPA group would be the last place I would ever do business with. Think twice before hiring them.

    Response from the owner

Michael, thanks for your review. Yes, we screwed up. The CPA who you were working with is no longer with our company. We still accept responsibility for not administering the proper oversight, and we have taken steps to improve our checklist and procedures to ensure better service.

Sarah and the whole team at Watson CPA Group helped me to get my accounting and tax preparation to the next level. They are extremely knowledgeable and hard working. Don't waste your time anywhere else.

    Response from the owner

Thanks so much Gabe! I will pass your kind words onto Sarah. We didn't necessarily know that tax preparation had levels, but I'm glad we could take you to the next one!

As someone who is involved in multiple small businesses, WCG has been an invaluable part of our teams, in every aspect. We had stuck with our original advisors because it just 'seemed' like it would be a hassle to change. WCG made the transition about as seamless as possible, and left us wondering why we hadn't done it years before. They have become a true extension of our organizations, and we are certainly are thankful for their partnership.

    Response from the owner

Hey Bryan! Thanks for the comments. You certainly have seen a lot first hand, as well as being exposed to a ton of businesses given your line of work. We are happy to be your extension in whatever business and accounting capacities that you need.

We came to Watson CPA with a huge mess and a giant amount of frustration with taxes for our small business. These guys rock! They walked us through fixing years of old mess from our previous accountant and set us up for success in the future. Between tax preparation, quarterly filing, payroll, and biyearly talks with Jason to make sure every other nuance is put in place (oh did I mention help with quickbooks??) we feel prepared for our financial future. Although I don't like paying taxes, it is no longer a four letter word in our house and I know I'm not paying more than we have to. This is the best team to have in your corner as a small business in a messy financial world. Bonus: the price is amazing for the quality and work you get.

I discovered the Watson CPA group after coming across one of their whitepapers. They've been extremely helpful with the accounting for my S Corp, offering useful insights and taking the time to educate me on specific topics. They are both thorough and patient - I ask lots of questions!

    Response from the owner

Ahhh, Lauren, we love your questions. Explaining 5 years of business school and two decades of experience in a 60 minute call can be tough... but your questions are good ones, and we love getting you to a place where you understand.

The Watson CPA Group is on top of things. They know how to crunch the numbers, look for smart ways to save on taxes, and have a witty humor level woven throughout the process that keeps it fun and light. If you need help setting up an LLC taxed as an S-Corp - these are your folks!

    Response from the owner

Humor! Yes... we take our jobs seriously... but that's where it ends. If we didn't throw in some humor we'd drool on ourselves with the boredom of taxes. Thanks for recognizing Brad that accountants can be funny people... not just funny looking people.
