Based on my experience, I would not trust Truist with my money. Went in to get a lien release for a loan from a BB&T subsidiary, paid off prior to the Truist acquisition. The staff we dealt with were friendly, but they were having a hard time tracking down any info on my loan, and asked me to check back later in the week for an update. A couple months' worth of my calling and leaving unanswered voicemails later, I gave up on this office entirely, and managed to get my lien release a different way.

I'm giving 0 stars. Not 1. All I have ever had since creating an account here are issues after issues. Constantly locking me out of the account. Unable to transfer money out of my account to other banks. Constantly can't get ahold of anyone when I call.

Absolutely the worst banking experience of my life. I opened an account since I live nearby with an official check from a very large respected insurance company. They placed a ridiculous 11 day hold on ALL of the funds and would not release even $100 after repeated visits-even though the top supervisor at the Insurance Co verified the check by number and amount directly to a BB&T manager over the phone. They are on transition to become Truist Bank so watch out for getting involved with this outfit. They apparently got annoyed that I kept trying so they arbitrarily closed my account without warning the day the hold came off. Instead of being able to collect a cashiers check at the bank— they said they put it in the mail—effectively delaying another two days for a whopping total of 13 days, two WEEKS if it doesn’t arrive by tomorrow WED . No mail Thursday, guess what “Happy Thanksgiving”!! By the way checks clear in 3-5 business days. I found the phone number of TRUIST CEO Bill Rogers on ZoomInfo. Still zero luck as the gate keeper assistant made big promises early on but delivered zero. She said the CEO could do nothing. Wow there you have it folks! Worthless!

So many problems with this bank in the past month! The last straw was yesterday when I was left stranded for hours because my debit card was declined by Uber — BB&T put it on fraud alert/deactivate it bc I used Uber 3 times that week?! No call, no email, no text warning me about this, so I could not get a ride home from work and was on hold and disconnected for over almost 2 hrs before I got the card to work again. In the meantime, my mechanic could not run my card so now I’m left without a car for 4 more days. Also tried for a solid month to get a line of equity opened. Left voicemails and sent emails for 2 weeks and never heard back from anyone so I had to go to the local branch and finally got in front of the woman I’d left voicemails for. Got shuffled around to 3 more people before actually speaking with someone who could help. Now we are 4 weeks into this process. Decided to go with a different lender with lower interest rates, closing in 2 weeks instead of 4, and actual customer service.

Quality of experience at this bank has really gone down since the merger with sun trust.

I like banking at BBT, I just don't like this BBT. There are so many business on Haywood rd that use this bank, it seems that they are always too busy to be nice. Today my Husband was turned away at the drive up window, due to the fact that he was asking for too much money. There was a crazy storm so he didn't want to go inside. I was stuck at home with the baby and needed the withdraw before 5 (it was 3:30.) He drove to the other BBT on the east side, and they gave him the money out of the window without any trouble... All of this caused frustration that was probably just not necessary. There have been great tellers here in the past, just not at the moment.

Had to pay an $8 fee to cash a check issued by their own bank. Friendly customer service, but as a policy that's ridiculous.
