CUTX offers some great services, but their focus on customer service seems to be severely lacking. It took several days and multiple different loan officers to finalize my auto loan with them, due to delays in their responses, and I got very contradictory information from each different representative. 9 times out of 10, it takes a minimum of 15 minutes to speak with a representative, sometimes much longer, and the automated recording does not state an expected wait time. They do offer a call back option, but making myself available to answer their call back, without any idea as to when that will be, is near impossible. Each time I am finally able to get a hold of someone, there’s no apology for the delay, misinformation, or trouble I’m experiencing (which is much more frequent than with any other credit union I’ve used). I’m currently on day 3 of trying to get a hold of them about a late fee they charged on my loan payment, which they set up on auto-pay. They’ve apparently been experiencing a system glitch with charges reflecting correctly online, which has remained unresolved for “almost 2 months” (their words). I really wanted to love working with this credit union long-term, as I have with other credit unions elsewhere, but I’m very frustrated with how ridiculously difficult it is to get thorough, accurate service from them.

Worst experience ever. I applied for my account & went into the branch to complete the process and to get my account information to set up direct deposit from my job. I got there and waited over an hour to be helped. And it seemed like all the representatives were coming out if their office to assist the people that were waiting in line for a teller and not assisting the people (including me) that were waiting & seated in the lobby area. Some were just sitting in their office doing absolutely nothing instead of helping customers. Very bad, awful, disappointing 1st impression. Will be closing my account ASAP.

Ouch- since when do you get greeted in the lobby of a banking establishment by an employee in jeans and flip flops?? Does not align with the CUTX service and reputation. I am here to invest some money and this image makes me think twice. Also, another representative who is taking customers into his cubicle/office area is not wearing a mask. C’mon Ross Ave in Dallas branch- time to step it up. This is way beyond ‘casual Friday’. Great service is there, now look the part.

Friendly and attentive staff. Paydays come early and the fact that they care for the little guys is definitely my favorite thing about this bank. Defitnetly the go-to-spot if your interested in growing your financial reach.

They hold all checks that are remote deposited for a WEEK. If you call and pester them, sometimes they will release part of it but they’ll act like they’re doing you a big favor and it’s inconvenient for them. They actually had the nerve to tell me that when they don’t hold a check, it’s “a courtesy.” I’m stunned. They also told me it was generous of them to give me access to a portion of my own funds, and said if I’m still worried about overdrafting I can apply for a line of credit. They tried to tell me this policy of holding checks for a week is state and federal law, but as far as I can tell, that is not true (of course, I’m not a lawyer, but Google suggests it was a lie.) We will be switching banks as it is clear that they engage in predatory practices and encourage employees to lie to and manipulate customers.

Bad customer experience after 15 years being their loyal customer. The manager was trying to shovel me out of their office FAST after they misunderstood my request and incorrectly printed stacks of statements for the past 4 years. Besides of wasting lots of paper, she insisted to charge me for their mistake, and she was trying to be right and just wanted me out of their office. I am seriously considering to leave CUTX after 15 years.

CU of Texas is by far the best financial institution I have come across for all of my banking needs. I currently reside in California, but I still turn to CU of Texas. I would like to give a big shout out to Jennifer Elwood in Team 8 who by far exceeded my expectations in refinancing my auto loan from one of the largest credit unions in California. They beat their rate and the service was awesome !! If you are looking for your next auto loan, turn to CU of Texas, you will be thankful for doing so and will save alot of money at the same time.
