5 years ago Credit Union 1 was my favorite bank, today not so much. Someone ended up getting my business account's debit card and spent some bucks. I had CU1 cancel and reissue the card. They reissued the card with the exact same numbers, a rolled forward expiration date, and a new security code. The problem being is that a child's bike lock is often more secure than a debit card security code with only 1000 possible combinations. I wouldn't check the account for months but when I finally did, all the money was gone, they had took it all. Credit Union 1 said they couldn't do anything about it because it had been too long since the funds were stolen. This is a tragic goodbye to the once amazing credit union 1. I really hope you guys get your stuff together, and figure out what has gone wrong since then and now.

Last night (01.22.21) Lei Luafulu at the CU1 Abbot location stayed all the way until 7pm to help us get our loan settled for our car so we could get to work that same night! And she was very patient, diligent and very very kind! We appreciate you Lei! And she also offered to come in on her today off (today) to help us get our credit card! She's the reason we're able to get the loan for our car and help build our credit with a new credit line all the 2 hours! Her hard work and dedication has been phenomenal!! Today (01.23 21) we were helped by Wolfgang Roberts (i believe was his last name), he was very polite, and explained out new credit line thoroughly and quickly! Thank you for your great and quick service!

Sunday, Old Seward branch is closed so, we went to Abbott -the main branch. Very Poor customer service. Karen maybe was her name who seemed rushed with what she’s doing, never asked if is there anything else she can help us with. She didn’t repeat to verify to customer what needs to be done which caused a transaction that needed to be redone. She shut off the camera. I need to push the call again coz I’m not done yet and another staff took over. I told her, “Where’s Karen? I am not done yet, aren’t you supposed to ask if there’s anything else I need?” The second staff said she can’t hear me, so I spoke louder. She said I needed to turn off my truck so she can hear me. They should have told me that in the 1st place or should you then put a sign on the drive through to turn off our vehicles if your staff cannot hear? I am already frustrated from the 1st staff and here comes another who took over who cannot hear me, I admit I yelled out what I needed to be done. Few minutes later, she asked “is there anything else I can do?”, I replied, “ let me see my statements 1st so, I know “. How can I know if they did what I asked if they didn’t tube back my transaction slips? Sarcasm? 1st, I apologize for my short temperament. There’s a room for improvement and to be honest, Old Seward branch knows best in their “scripting” with customer from start to finish. Please repeat to verify to customer what needed to be done, reconfirm which account goes to what. Do not shut off your camera or screen when customer still in the zone. Seems like McDonald drive through is way better with this. I understand it was almost closing time, why did Karen seemed “rushed “? Are your staff gonna be in trouble for overtime? If this is the case, overtime policy may need to be revisited as staff may be prone to poor customer service and or mistakes if they worry about the overtime. I’d be willing to talk if needed regarding this event. As there was another transaction in the past where Old Seward referred me back to main branch about guardianship account. The staff does not know the process and wanted me to go to Abbott in person (I was just inquiring what’s the process/requirements . Well, I just had the guardianship account at Alaska USA, branch was able to do it that easy.

I had all the necessary document ready to make a transaction of car ownership on behalf of my friend. They were extremely slow and unproductive and had the new buyer of my friend's car waited for more than an hour. All the proper paper work was presented according to the stipulation just exactly what CU1 wanted. We went upstairs to the title department and waited for 30 mins and then got sent downstairs to the teller and waited for another 30 mins. What a fiasco that was! What a bunch of thugs with ulterior motives! Every time I asked what the remaining balance of the loan was, I was quoted differently. It's obvious that CU1 does not want us to pay the whole thing free and clear. They would much rather see my friend default on the loan and then they could detain the vehicle and sell it separately, so that way they could make a killing on my friend's money for what he had been paying and then still make a profit by repossessing that vehicle. I know I am making a very extreme and accusatory statement. But what other ways can one explain why these people had us waited for so long when we already had all the PROPER documents and money on hand for doing the transaction PROPERLY? We were just fortunate that the new buyer did not loose his patience and decided to walk out on us in the process of getting the title for this vehicle. For the sake of protecting my friend's privacy, I am not going to be too specific about this incident. So customers beware when doing business with CU1. There are advantages and disadvantages dealing with a small financial firm. The disadvantages would be having a small financial firm like CU1 being so arbitrary when it comes to dealing with its customers.

You guys need to work on training your staff. I tried to make a payment in advance so that next month I would be ahead on my payments. Was told that if I did so I would see it reflected on my account after the 18th of the month, moving my payment due date to the next month. So I waited until the 18th, and by the 22nd when my payment due date was the same as it was previous to my making he additional payment, I called to ask why. Well now they’re telling me that whoever I spoke with prior was mistaken and that’s not at all how the payments work, so even though I made two months worth of payments, I still owe next month, when I shouldn’t owe again until October. You guys really screwed me with that, and I’m extremely unhappy. You seriously need to properly train your staff, it’s ridiculous that I’m getting two ENTIRELY different answers for the exact same question. I‘ll likely change banks because of this.

I don’t know what order of operations they’re following right now, but we sat for roughly fifty minutes, twenty of which were at the window, while four or five of the cars that were behind us cycled through before we were finally helped. Wish we’d gone to old Seward, there’s always a line but they understand how to process people.

Also the training was awful. Sitting in an overly hot room while one person just drones on and on and on and very little hands on practice. This was easily the worst experience in employment I've ever had anywhere. I've never been treated so badly in all my life. And I've worked at car dealerships.
