I made an appointment to meet in person hopefully to open a savings account. I brought my passport, drivers license, and social security card! As well as current mailing, lease agreement, and car registration I just so happen to have with me. It didn’t occur to me until after my appointment that I realized the individual assisting me did everything he could to not have me open an account with here. Our meeting took longer than usual and he was demanding I provide him with very personal and sensitive information that wasn’t relevant to opening the account! After providing him with pdf’s emailed to him containing my personal bank statements (account numbers included) he told me my application would need to be reviewed further? I asked why, I’ve provided you with more than enough documents, his reply was “some people need more looking into.” I from what I’ve heard about this bank it’s a great place to start investing or a relationship with! My only issue and (warning to others) is be cautious of who they’ve hired. The gentleman’s name was Abel Martinez, and I’d ask that WCU train workers to remain professional when at work and leave any personal biases at home or in their private lives. I was denied not because of documentation, or ability to make a deposit… but “Discrimination that’s ugly, but true and also very sad. Discrimination: noun 1. the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.”
