When I received orders to move from overseas to the Colorado Springs area my wife and I decided we were interested in buying our first home in the Colorado Springs area. Originally, I was considering working with a familiar mortgage company without a local presence. However, after they had trouble reading my military pay stub (LES), I decided to check out Veterans United to talk to someone with experience working with active duty military. Boy, am I glad that I gave Grant a call at Veteran's United! I am convinced that without Grant's boots on the ground, spot-on advice and information about the local market and VA loan closing timelines, underwriting requirements and relationships with local appraisers and realtors, we would not have been able to secure our first home and close as quickly and painlessly as we did - using a VA loan! In a sellers market with homes moving quickly, having Grant and his team (thanks, Dmitry!) give me regular updates and easy-to-follow checklists for required documentation made it easy to close on time! Also, the rates and fees at Veteran's United were very comparable if not lower than the other mortgage banks I checked with and they offered a no-fee rate lock that gave me peace of mind. I have to note as well that Veterans United's online e-document system is great, too! It made reviewing and signing all the applications and disclosures a breeze from the other side of the world with a busy schedule. Grant and Dmitry were easy to get a hold of even at late hours and always returned my e-mails timely. Dmitry even pulled up his laptop late one evening to push a last-minute document to the underwriter to ensure an on-time closing! And another benefit of going with a local mortgage broker - Grant actually attended the closing in person with all the required documents in order and confirmed the funds were wired on time to the escrow/title company. The whole team at Veteran's United was nothing but great to work with and I would highly recommend them to any active duty military considering relocating to the Colorado Springs, CO area!

This was my second transaction with VU. I went with them exclusively for a VA IRRRL quote and refinance because I am so pleased with the customer service and ease of use that I have had with them so far. This experience only further confirmed that, as I went from start to closing/finish in a mere 11 days during a pandemic. WOW! VU homebuyer for life!

Absolutely exceptional service and professionalism. I could not be more pleased with the expert knowledge of the underwriting and closing process to make the experience smooth and timely. Thanks again Alice & Team!!!

I am a local REALTOR and had to deal with VU. They were kind over the phone but so incredibly SLOW. My biggest disappointment was they sold my client on the loan and a week before closing transferred his file to another lender. Several conditions, including closing costs, were not accurately depicted and we found out last minute my buyer had to bring several thousand dollars to closing they weren't counting on. Buyers beware.
I am so sorry to hear about your about your client's experience. Without being able to reference their file, I cannot determine if their loan was here with us at Veterans United Home Loans and the condition behind having to transfer (often times if we are unable to qualify a borrower within our guidelines and those of the VA, we will work as swiftly as possible to help them find a new lender that is able to qualify since guidelines differ lender to lender). As we were not the lender to close the loan, I am also unsure as to why or how the closing cost would have made such a substantial swing; that is disheartening to hear. I hope that your borrower is able to reach out to their servicer and inquire or even remedy that cash to close increase. In the end I am glad that your client was able to close on their home, though I do wish it would have been a more positive experience for all involved. -Claire S., Client Advocate

I recently refinanced my home with Veterans United to remove my PMI (Insurance) with a VA home loan refinance. The office that handled my loan was in Colorado Springs, and the loan Officers name was Grant Schneider. Grant knew his stuff and explained in great detail what my options were. Once I noticed this I inquired as to what he thought the best option for me was. He then used his expertise to explain all of the options and what he thought the best course of action in a very professional yet easy to understand way. He was not ambiguous, and they did not strategically haggle with my interest rate as I have experienced with other banks in the past. I am a skeptic so I asked a lot of questions to probe deeper into the answers I was given to my toughest questions. Grant was not just there to help me through the process, but also to explain in great detail the reasoning behind all of the procedures. The most important thing to me was that Veterans United does not subcontract your loan to a long list of possible investors or financiers. They do most if not all of their investing and loans in house, which reduces the effect the refinance may have on my Credit and FICO ratings. Thank you Grant, and to Veterans United for assembling an outstanding team of dedicated professionals geared toward servicing those who have served. I will be back!

This is the second time I have worked with Veterans United Home Loans of Colorado Springs, specifically Grant Schneider. In both instances it was an easy, pleasant experience. Grant is very knowledgeable and professional and I highly recommend him to others wishing to purchase a home or refinance.

This company is absolutely horrible when it comes to serving our veterans. My father who was wounded in Vietnam has 2 purple hearts And a serve the country for almost 10 years finally decided to use his VA to get a house here in Denver, Colorado we went with veterans United with the understanding that they are tuned more towards veterans Even though my father has a 700 point credit score and makes $40000 a year they only approved him for $217000. Here in Colorado you can't even get a condo for that much. Next they put him in touch with two realestate agents who were beyond snotty both of which demanded that my father put $3000 earnest money down since he wasn't putting a down payment and even told him that they would not allow him to make an offer on a house unless he puts the earnest money down. One even had the nerve to say "just because your a veteran do you think you can get a house for free?". If you are a veteran and don't make more than a $100000 a year do not, whatever you do do not go with this company they will rip you off and pretend that they're doing a va loan when in actuality they're doing and FHA which is another thing that they did to my father. My father called His VA representative and after telling them what this company did to him with a 217000 dollar loan and 1475 a month payments the rep told him that this company was a joke disguising itself as vet friendly to jump on the support our troops band wagon. My father went elsewere and got 340000 loan 0 down and 1000 a month payments.

From the beginning to the closing we had a great outcome. We would definitely recommend VU to anyone who is looking to purchase a home. They actually cared about us and making sure we got approved with no issues at all. Thank you VU!!
We appreciate the kind words! It's great to hear that your loan team provided a great customer service experience. Thanks for your review, and congratulations on your new home! -Jillian J., Client Advocate

Joke of a company, I asked a simple question and got ignored, sent 2 emails and called twice. Never got a call back, I started the process to get a pre-approval, they ran my credit ( mid 700s ) signed what they wanted, I asked a simple question as to why they wanted linked to my personal bank account and instantly got ignored and never heard from them again. Dont trust them at all. I placed a fraud alert on my credit just to be safe after all that. They also wanted a Divorce Decree from 9 years ago.
