The overall experience of coming into the branch is good the tellers are nice and helpful and so are the member service reps. I’ve lately noticed that everytime I come into the branch it’s really dark and gloomy not because the light are off or anything but it just seems to be a sad uncomfortable environment. The manager is either not there because he had to run out and get something or he’s in his office with the door shut and the lights off as if he’s just disconnected from the job. As the branch manager he really should do more to make himself more available to members and even his staff and if he’s sick or whatever the case may be he just needs to stay home it doesn’t look good for a manager to always be in a closed dark office.

Went as a credit union co-op member and am grateful I’m not a member here. Dismal environment where the manager basically invades your person space as soon you walk in with overbearing energy and the tellers are all complaining. They were rolling back security footage to mock someone - disgusting behavior I would never expect to see at my credit union. The nice teller wanted to be sure she was processing the transfer correctly and “Nicki” comes over with a major attitude and was uncomfortably rude to this sweet teller. Couldn’t wait to leave this disappointing place.

    Response from the owner

They always take excellent care of me with swift and smooth transactions!! David, the Branch Manager was able to get me a new debit card within 15 minutes of being there!! It’s a bit of drive for me to get here but the interactions always make it worthwhile!

    Response from the owner

Horrible experience!!!! I am not a member, I am a combat decorated veteran of this great nation who banks with Marine Federal Credit Union, which is shared with old Summit. Well I received my payroll check and since there are no Marine Federal Credit Unions in Raleigh, I attempted the mobile check deposit through Marine Federal. I later received an email stating that I needed to re-submit in person at a branch and was contacted by Marine Federal who pointed me towards the Summit 🤣. Since this nation is now living in fear everything is complicated and everyone believes they are in impending doom. I remember that feeling walking some of the darkest alleys and meanest streets in Iraq and Afghanistan and later as a civilian doing private security details. I arrive at the Summit located in Raleigh and was met with a woman at the window. I explained that I attempted to do a mobile deposit and that it was rejected and that Marine Federal directed( DIRECTED) me to them. She was rude and unhelpful. Told me to call Marine Federal for other options, and I explained that I already had which is why I was standing in front of her. She kept repeating herself stating that I needed to contact Marine Federal and that she could not deposit my check. Worst experience I’ve ever had in my professional life. No reason she could not have performed a service typical to that of a drive through. This friendly bank and professional Summit representative sent me packing without any solution. Wish I could have responded like that as a Marine or as a Police Officer. Yeah why don’t you call someone other than the police and see what other options they have for your dilemma.🤣 Yikes, I’d have had a slew of IA complaints if I’d have responded like she did. We don’t always know who is standing in front of us or know their background which makes it supremely important to regard everyone with the utmost respect. I bled for this woman and she doesn’t even know it! Be above reproach as you deal with customers and you’ll never have an issue. What a joke this establishment is. First impression is everything as they say, and institutions employ people who represent them. As a police officer I had to remember the agency as I interacted with people. I hope you have a better experience. Semper Fidelis

They didn't know that shared branches have cashier's check limits of 5k. I couldnt get a straight answer from them on how to handle this, and the manager, who should have been called much earlier in the conversation, showed up at the end of the situation and called me rude. Poor management leads to poorly trained staff. I never called anyone names, I just was frustrated. I suppose if you live in Raleigh they might be ok but if my experience is any indication, I wouldnt put a lot of money into their coffers. If you ever have an issue, expect to be called rude.

I have been a member since 2008. I am shocked by some of the negative reviews stating bad or impersonal service. I was almost always greeted by name and all phone calls were returned promptly. Loans were processed quickly and diligently. Tellers are friendly, knowledgeable, and personable. Summit offers great rates and they were integral in helping me build up my credit. My only complaint is that there are very few office locations.

Good rates, though it takes them forever to return a phone call, the MOST inconvenient hours, and location(s) of ANY credit union I've ever been a member of. Certainly they could be open a couple hours on a Saturday. They will hold EVERY check no matter who it's from, US Treasury? No problem, four day hold!

After 86 days, I am finally going to be able to close on a simple refinance through Summit, not before adding an extra $600 to the loan to extend my rate (which was never discussed with me), of course. Coming from someone who works in customer service, I can say without equivocation that, while facilitating the largest financial transaction I will ever make, Summit dropped the ball. They continue to blame my attorney's office for failing to get my title work completed in a timely manner, which still only accounts for ~2 weeks worth of "delay". It took my attorney's office four weeks instead of two. What was going on the other 72 days, you may ask? I am still wondering that myself. After turning in my application on 11/7/16, I didn't hear from my loan officer for over a month. After calling repeatedly and leaving two voicemails, I finally received a call back with information that there were a couple of forms in my packet which still needed to be signed. These were signed and returned on the same day that they were requested. It also took a week from the time my appraisal was sent to the loan officer to the time she actually got the ball rolling on the title work. (From 11/28-12/2) Following our conversation on 12/14/16 regarding the documents which needed to be signed, I did not hear from her again until 1/4/17, at which point some additional paperwork was requested and completed same-day. Since then it has been one thing after another. After contacting her manager directly, I began receiving more regular contact. Fast forward to 1/27, and a new $600 "QRL Rate Lock Extension Fee" shows up on my loan documents. I have completed and returned all requested paperwork within the same business day, but I am still being punished. I don't usually write these kinds of reviews unless I have experienced especially sub-par service, but this has been one of the most challenging banking/property purchasing experiences I have endured.
