This is the best bank in town. The only problem is they have started using a separate company to field phone calls. This new company is impossible to work with and there down right rude. If it wasn't for this I would rate them 5 star.
Hi Pam - Thank you for your positive review. We’re sorry you haven’t had the best experience when calling us. I do want to clarify our use of the other company for phones. We are still using Wauna Credit Union employees in Astoria to answer phones. The other company only answers as a backup. We continue to work with them to raise the level of help they give.

I too would give ZERO STARS if allowed. I took over a loan back in March of 2021. I’ve had nothing but issues with this credit union. Never received a bill/ statement til may and that was for my April payment. I had to call multiple times to get this straightened out. You would think they wanted their money and make it convenient for customers to pay. So I set up auto pay to just fix the situation. Then get a letter saying I’m 7 days late. So I make sure it was taken out of my bank. It was. The withdrawal went to a savings and not towards my vehicle. So I called again. Fixed that. Now I still have not received my plates and registration for this vehicle. What is going on? How can one bank mess up so many times. Called the 1800 number again and yes the person I spoke to is very nice and is looking into it to see where all went wrong. Never ever should have gotten to this point. Worst credit union. Beyond frustrated. Do not recommend.
Thank you for being a member Amanda. It sounds like we were waiting on some documentation from you before the DMV would approve the title transfer. I do apologize for that wait. Now that they have all the information they need your plates should be on their way, although currently the DMV is a bit behind.

Never any money in the ATMs because they “haven’t had time to put any in.” The building is “closed for the unforeseeable future for our safety”. It’s literally impossible to get any help at this location. It used to be a good bank. Not sure who’s running this mess now? New management needed!! *In response to your comment; If you mean by “open” that you have customers stand outside in the rain….🙄 The teller said, “I haven’t had a chance to restock the ATMs today”. That was at about 4pm 3 or 4 days before this reviews. This happened again the day I made this post. After waiting in line for 35 minutes my husband was asked to come and wait in the line outside the door. Which was another 25 minutes. Ridiculous! The ATM per the teller was out of $50s and $100s. The ATM should never be out of funds. This is an inconvenience to everyone! Customers come to the ATM for money! No, I will not be directing anyone to come and work for you. We will no longer use our account at the St. Helens Wauna (yes I’m sure of the location, I was in your parking lot waiting when I wrote the review). We will be banking with Bank of America and Inroads.
Hi Erika - Just to clarify, our branches currently have restricted access to staffing shortages, but they are open. Every branch has a number on the door to get through directly to the branch (those numbers are on our website as well), so you can schedule an appointment. Thank you for alerting us that the machines where out of funds. I hadn't heard of an instance of that happening. We do understand that the current situation is not ideal, and negatively impacts our members, and really do sincerely apologize for that. We are doing all that we can to rehire, so if you know anybody who is interested in working for us please direct them to our open positions. Thank you again for being a member of the credit union. *Update, I did verify we have run out of particular denominations. Recently, the machines did not have $50 bills, but neither of the units at that branch were without adequate funds. Could you please confirm that it was the St. Helens branch you are referencing?

Love waiting 20 minutes for the atm only to find out its a virtual teller which is what is taking everyone so long. This branch does not know how to use the atm/teller signs for the drivethru. Ive seen the teller light on with no teller service and vice versa. Don’t see what’s so hard about this, would probably save a lot of people a lot of time. Response to response: So when I drive up to the machine and look at the screen and it tells me the only option is to touch the screen for a virtual teller, that I actually could use it for an atm? I've been through this drive though so many times I know when the atm is operating and when it isn't. I am asking for some common decency for you to not leave your atm signs on if the atms are out of cash or broken or whatever it is this time that's wrong. If you want to help, get in contact with this branch and tell them to use the atm/teller signs for the drive through properly.
Hi Herbert - I'm so sorry you had to wait. The St. Helens and Forest Grove branches only have duel ATM/ Video Tellers. You're able to use the same machine to talk to somebody, or to withdraw/deposit money. Clastkanie and Warrenton have an ATM only unit on the outside lane, and Vernonia and Scappoose only have ATMs. I hope that helps!

I tried and tried to reach someone at the branch. No one would pick up the phone!! Tried to go to the ST Helens branch, doors locked. When selling our motor home, it took Wauna 18 days to complete the loan for our buyer. Would NEVER recommend this business to anyone.

Bank anywhere else. Nice people but you go inside you stand there like a jerk while people just talk to each other. ATM is always down, PIN had to be reset twice in a year for no reason, never happened at 3 other places I had banked longer. All locations lobbies are closed because of staff shortage (heck of a coincidence). Cannot take more than 500 out of ATM a day. No 24 hour customer service, but talk to a 2nd party before being connected to a rep. after 8 or 9 am. Do not understand why myself and others bank here other than to lazy to close account and walk across the street.
Hi Alexander - We're sorry you are not enjoying your experience with the credit union. We are always trying to improve our services. Our lobbies are currently restricted to by appointment only, but we are working to hire more people to get them back to full capacity. During the last 18 months, we've been completely open at a greater rate than the other financial institutions in the area, especially the banks who have permanently closed many of their branches. I can tell that you've given a lot of thought to your criticism. The MSM (branch manager) at the St. Helens branch is Matt. I know he would like to talk with you about your concerns.

This institution is a joke! I am one inconvenience away from closing all my accounts and going else where because of their outdated fraud detection system CONSTANTLY freezing my card for reasons unknown to me, and their automated system is pretty bad at not calling you so that you can unfreeze your card. And the fact they don't have a way to do this when no one is around is pretty pathetic and is by far the lowest quality of service I've every had from a credit union. Oh and if you happen to find out the hard way that your debit card is frozen (declined purchase online or in store) with these jokers on the weekend, good luck getting it unfroze until the weekend! They used to open on Saturdays, why they stopped is anyone's guess! And don't even bother trying to call their 24/7 call center if the tellers are unavailable, because they too don't pick up the phone even though they're supposed to be a 24/7 CALL CENTER!!! At this point I am led to belie their fraud system is deliberately set up so that if by chance you have a credit card with them they force you to use it so they can collect on the interest. Edit: Yeah I tried calling that number ending in 3236, option 3? Tells me that option is not valid! Again 24 hour call center? I call bull.
Hello. I'm so sorry that you're experiencing any frustrations with your account. We want to make sure all our members have access to their accounts at all time, and apologize if we didn't do what we needed to in this case. I do want to clear up a couple of misconceptions that may be keeping your card frozen longer than it should be. The fraud department is available 24/7. Simply call 800-773-3236 and follow the prompts for fraud. Our regular Virtual Branch, who help with account questions, loan applications, and other CU transactions, is currently not available outside of business hours. If you follow the prompts to customer service you won't get the fraud team. We have recently expanded our Saturday hours. Even though the branch lobbies are not open, the drive-thru ATM are also Video Teller Units. If you select the talk to a live teller option you'll be able to speak to a live WCU employee from 9 am to 3 pm. If you aren't able, or don't want to go into a branch you can use Wauna CU now to video chat with a WCU Member Consultant during those same hours. For more information on Wauna CU Now, go to https://waunafcu.org/waunacu-now.shtml

Would give 0 stars if google allowed. Stay away from Wauna. If you own a business and need anything done in a timely manner, this is not the bank for you. I often wonder if anyone works at the St. Helens branch as I have been phoning and emailing them for 2 days and have yet to receive a response. Which happens every time I need banking assistance. Tellers are lacking in customer service and often seem annoyed that you have walked into their bank. The manager seems to have the same lack luster attitude towards members. If members received return phone calls, they would not have to walk into the bank in the first place. Local tip, I phoned US bank St. Helens branch, not even a member, and they answered on the second ring. I found my replacement bank.
I'm sorry you didn't feel our staff was attentive to your needs. We do provide ourselves on our training and our commitment to serving our members. I know our St. Helens MSM Melissa and Area Manager Lisa, are happy to meet with any of our members to ensure the absolute best service.

One of the best banks I have had! They may not be the best at returning calls due to the amount of staff at hand and how busy they are at times, but they sure do make up for it in customer service! When in the branch the tellers are personable and very friendly! They make going to the bank a pleasurable experience, never a painful one!
Hi Logan-So glad you've been having a positive experience. We do aim to answer all calls as soon as possible.

My husband and I banked with Chase over a year ago. We needed a personal loan for our wedding and since Chase does not do loans we decided to give Wauna a try. Well when they pulled up our info we were denied due to a debt to income ratio. About an hour after my husband had got home from the credit union there was a knock at the door. It was the very nice lady from Wauna, telling us that they pulled up something on our credit twice and that we were indeed entitled to the loan. She then sat and finished details on the loan at our house and left with a smile. We were so impressed by their customer service as to come speak to us personally, that we closed our account with Chase Bank that day, and have been with Wauna ever since! They are just a very friendly, understanding group of people. I would recommend them to everyone!
Thank you so much for sharing this great story! We are so glad to have you as a member!
