Wonderful experience from beginning to end. I was treated with courtesy and professionalism, and treated best of all as an individual with individual needs. Application moved seamlessly through various stages, and at each stage the account manager assigned my file was accessible and responsive. My business is a solo practitioner law firm, presenting certain unique characteristics to my account manager, but he was never fazed. Would recommend SmartBiz without any hesitation for small business owners needing loan assistance to meet various goals.

I began the lengthy application process with smart biz in mid-April 2018 and found out yesterday that 7/25/18 that my business financials would not meet the loan criteria for the SBA. I was not happy with that outcome, but understood as our business had a difficult 2017 financially. We made some bad hires that affected our profitability very negatively. I was prepared for this outcome and honestly as we went through the process our financial fortunes were improving. So the money was not really needed as much as wanted for expanding the company and accelerating our growth. However, in going through the process there were 2 things that bothered me greatly about the whole deal. 1. I dealt with 3 different account reps(?) during this very lengthy and time consuming process. None of the 3 reps Jon, Jefferson or Phillip were very good at communicating. It took as long as almost a week in one instance to respond to an email requesting status of the loan application. There were several other instances that took inordinately long periods of time for responses as well. Usually after a couple of these instances I was changed to a different representative. This proved to be frustrating especially when smart biz is going to get 2.5 to 3 percent of whatever amount you end up borrowing. I don't begrudge them getting paid for their efforts but I do not appreciate slow and even arrogant responses to legitimate questions. 2. The second problem which bothers me the most is the fact that the issue that according to smartbiz prevented our eligibility for the loan existed and was disclosed very early in the loan application process. The issue was our profitability in 2017, which as I stated earlier was due to a couple of very bad hires that greatly affected my company. Prior to 2017 my company was growing for over 5 years with 30% to 50% sales increases annually. Additionally, we maintained a six figure bank balance prior to the rough year and I anticipate reaching that level again in the 1st quarter of 2019. By any definition my company is a good and growing small business that hit a rough patch due to a couple of bad decisions. I think almost every small business goes through something similar at one time or another. The insult here was the waste of dozens of hours of my time and the time of my bookkeeping staff in working to secure a loan that the "3 stooges" knew from the beginning would not be approved. When I asked Phillip why they decided to waste so much of my company's time, effort and money in having go though the entire process his response was "we were hoping the numbers would improve". Did Phillip and the other stooges think we would somehow find another couple of hundred thousand dollars under a rock? Perhaps they thought the tooth fairy would look kindly on me and give me the money I didn't get for a tooth when I was 5 years old with accumulated interest. I was not informed when this information was disclosed that our 2017 numbers were such a deal breaking problem. It seems to me that their actions bely a very selfish and uncaring company that only seems to be truly concerned with collecting a fee rather than the amount of resources people have to put into seeking an SBA loan. They're marketing is very good in leading you to believe they’re here to help but like a lot of marketing out there it's as full of hot air and hypocrisy as just about anyone else. I recommend you look to your own financial institution first when seeking an SBA loan and don't believe the hype. Make very sure they are upfront with you about your actual possibilities of getting the loan. The primary issue with us is our perceived ability to repay the loan with very little consideration of the circumstances and how they may have changed. If you had a bad year just prior to seeking the loan I suggest you find another source of funding.

Thank you for taking time to leave your comments. We take customer feedback very seriously. The SmartBiz team looked into your applications. One was submitted on 4/23 and withdrawn one month later on 5/29. Your second application was started on 7/17 and declined 10 days later on 7/27. We were initially unable to refer you to our SBA bank partners due to their credit requirements and later unable because of their financial requirements. We apologize that you did not receive a consistent and streamlined customer service. We’ve taken steps internally to make sure this doesn’t happen again. We wish you and your business the best of luck.

SmartBiz was great! My business organization is different (3 LLC's) but Justin worked through it and made an acceptable presentation to the bank and we got the funding! It is a long process but I think that has more to do with the SBA than SmartBiz. Justin is very pleasant to work with and was thorough in letting me know what was needed, as well as what to expect. I would recommend SmartBiz to my closest associates.

Bradford Thompson is amazing. I found SmartBiz through a third party site. I needed an SBA loan to help grow my business. Bradford was relentless at following up to make sure every detail was clear. He answered my calls and emails after hours and even when he was on vacation! Bradford turned a normally painful process and made it simple and easy. He worked hard to help my business. SmartBiz is lucky to have Bradford on their team. I don't know their core values but Bradford has to exemplify each one in an outstanding manner. If I ever need to use SmartBiz again, I will ask for Bradford by name

APPLICATION NUMBER 6079027. I have applied for my PPP loan March 30th and the following day Smartbiz said they are working on my loan. April 1st I received an email from then saying that they lower my PPP loan to a third of the amount I qualified for. (Smartbiz make this changes to my application without consulting or have any authorization from me) I reply back to their email asking them to cancel my application and went with a different lender. another lender approved my application for the correct amount but do to SMARTBIZ GOT A SBA NUMBER ASSIGNED ALREADY FOR ME WITH THE AMOUNT THEY CHOSE TO GIVE ME, iM UNABLE TO GET MY PPP LOAN. I'm reporting this company to the BBB!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE A SCAM!!!!!! NO ONE PICKS UP THE PHONE WHEN YOU CALL. THEY ASK YOU TO SEND AN EMAIL AND NO ONE RESPONDS. I SENT 10 EMAILS SO FAR SINCE THEY DID THIS TO ME AND STILL NO RESPONSE. THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD AND THE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THAT!!!! I HOPE THE BBB CLOSES YOUR BUSINESS SINCE LOOK AT ALL YOUR REVIEWS. YOU ARE CAUSING BUSINESSES TO FAIL DUE TO YOUR LACK OF COMMUNICATION AND YOU GUYS ARE STILL TAKING PPP APPLICATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

No way to get ahold of anyone to see the status of my loan. Bank they paired me up with said they have not sent any documents over despite their own portal saying that the bank is currently funding. If anyone from the company is reading this please respond to my emails

I went through three lenders before I found Sigmond and his team. Before I had no communication, lenders not knowledgeable about their product and poor service. I'm so glad I found SmartBiz or rather that they found me 💗 It was such a pleasant experience with a lender who took the time to explain everything and work with me and my busy schedule. It was way easier, awesome communication and service. I would highly recommend them!

Two words: Camille Pittman. She was my relationship manager and guided me through the entire process. I’ve heard nightmares about the frustration of the SBA Loan process. However, SmartBiz and Camille made it a breeze! Very impressed with SmartBiz and looking forward to growing my business with the loan they helped me procure and also looking forward to coming back to SmartBiz to assist my future financial business needs.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. TERRIBLE/NO SERVICE When I try to login to my account to "sign the papers" waiting for me there, the website just buffers for hours and never takes me into my account. I have tried different browsers, firefox and google chrome. No phone contact available and when I email their support, which I have done at least 10 times asking for help to sign in, they just send a form letter response with directions how to login. I know how to login. It's their website that has a malfunction.

    Response from the owner

We’re sorry you are having an issue logging in. There is no system issue that we are aware of or that has been reported by other customers that would be causing this behavior. Our records indicate you were able to log in afterall and sign your loan documents, so you are now in the funding stage of the process. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
