Paul Lancaster was my lender during my first time home buying process. He guided me to a program that help with my down payment and when I had questions he answered quickly.

Worst experience I’ve ever had with a bank. I opened the account online and a couple of weeks later I received an extremely vague letter in the mail saying I needed to provide documents per the Patriot Act, no information about what documents just a number to call. I called the number and the customer service rep didn’t know what I was talking about and said my account seemed fine and not to worry. Another few days couple of weeks passed or and I received another letter from Sandy Spring Bank again telling me I needed to provide documents for the patriot act, again with no other information so this time I sent an email asking what it was I needed to provide and I did not receive a response. Another week went by and I got another letter from the bank telling me that my account was being closed because I did not provide the documentation. I called the bank and, after wasting a ridiculous amount of time on hold, I was finally told what I needed to provide. I sent in the documents online per their instructions But this point I was having a pretty bad taste in my mouth about the bank so I decided to close my account. I scheduled an appointment for today to close the account and was told by the person in the bank that I didn’t need to come in and close it because my head a zero balance which I certainly did not have a zero and I told her this and she didn’t know what happened. After she had to do research and call me back and told me that they had close my account because I did not provide the documents for the ridiculous patriot act, despite that I had indeed provided the documents. Scary to think that a bank this disorganized is actually in operation, while the customer service reps are polite they are in knowledgeable which results in a very poor customer service experience. Certainly nota place I’d want my money held.

Loved working with Jeff and his team. They were on top of our new home purchase from start to finish. We really appreciate their expertise and friendly service especially during this tumultuous time (Spring 2020).

I used April Bonner at Sandy Spring Bank. She was very professional and caring. Ms. Bonner went above and beyond to assist me in acquiring a loan for the house which I moved into on October 12, 2019. When we were not cwrtain I qualified, Ms. Bonner started researching on her own and discovered a rule that made me eligible. She went above and beyond in assisting me in purchasing my first home. There were multiple hiccups along the way, but Ms. Bonner did not stop or quit on me. She checked up on me frequently and kept encouraging me not to give up. This is the level of commitment and caliber you want in a loan officer and in a loan company. If anyone is thinking of purchasing a home, I highly recommend Sandy Spring Bank and April Bonner.

Very frustrated with Sandy spring. $1500 was taken from my account, and my father's account from an unknown source (not approved by us). Sandy spring frooze my account thankfully i have another bank account with navy federal. Trying to close the account has been a hassle. After waiting an hour and half on hold i was told i need to write an email to sandy spring bank telling them i want to close the account. This bank is not a modern bank. I experienced many problems with them in the past. -unable to sinc outside accounts -overdraft fees for withdrawls I did not make. -the only locations are in MD & VA I am so happy I have Navy federal now and will no longer have to deal with this bank.
