The department of financial aid at CSU continues to disappoint me every school year. Either I don’t get a timely response to my email I don’t receive a response whatsoever. I’ve sent emails on emails trying to receive help for Financial aid requirements. Always expect to be on hold and definitely don’t expect somebody to answer that phone. I would call several times in a row and that adds up considering only be on hold for 45 minutes and then have to call again. I promise it will surprise you when someone answers the phone. I feel that in order to get help you have to go directly to the office but it’s summertime and I do not live in Fort Collins so that’s not an option.

The CSU office of financial aid is probably the worst department at CSU. They are completely understaffed and very rude. Last , semester I waited for form to be filled out for three months. Because of this I want able to receive one of my scholarships until November and the semester ended in December. I am trying to get the same form filled out this semester and I have called several times and each time the line hangs up because the waiting maximum is 45 minutes. And the video calling is a joke. I had an appointment and the link said that it was invalid. And you can't go in person because the office is closed due to covid.

I can understand the frustrations of other reviewers. There is a long hold time and there is the additional issue of parents calling in for their children who are 18 or older. I have no clue if they are short handed or not, but it seems more staff would help. Permissions need to be given by your student. I found them making every effort to work things out and help me and was very pleased with my service except for the 39 min hold.

My mother and I had a meeting scheduled with an advisor who was very rude and left us even more confused than before. Later in the year, I had a couple of urgent financial aid questions that I emailed several times via the form on their website which never got a response; even after the five business day window. UPDATE* I finally recieved a response about eight weeks after my initial email and several follow up emails and phone calls. Because of the department's lack of timeliness in response I missed the window to cancel a loan that I ended up not needing after all which now puts me out ten thousand dollars. Had financial aid emailed me back in the five-seven business day window, I wouldn't have this problem. After emailing them again, they said they'd make an exception and let me cancel my loan but when I sent them the required forms they said I was outside the fourteen day window. CSU financial aid has been a NIGHTMARE to work with. Responses take forever and advisors are rude. I am now out then thousand dollars because they didn't do their job like they were supposed to.

I can not say how bad this financial aid office help line is. I have tried many times my daughter had tried to call, never have gotten through. I am now going up to CSU to get someone in person . I am so upset about the lack of help and personnel they have. I need to file a written complaint to the university.

I'm trying to reach them about an urgent financial aid question and I've been trying to reach them for hours. Horrible customer service. Maybe some funding should go to the customer service hotline.
B
They are extremely difficult to reach and are only available from 10 to 4. Which nobody else works such little hours at the school. Would not recommend going through them if you can.
S
Terrible customer service, they don't answer the phones.
