I've been with my credit union for about ten years now, and although I've never really had a consistent flow of or substantial amount of money in my account, I've never wrote any bad checks, or remained overdrafted for any significant amount of time. I've always tried to maintain the good standing with my credit union, cuz they've always done right by me. I also have a few family members who are or were also members of nwccu. Some are low income like me, and some of them have always made nwccu some interest profits. Ever since the pandemic a lot of their staff have either quit or retired. And the newer younger staff in general seem to have a real issue with abusing their power, placing judgment on clients, just asking their coworkers for their opinion to make their decisions (rather than actually looking into anything) and have made a game of getting rid of their lower income customers. As I know I'm not the only one having experienced this. That all being said, I used my PayPal cash card with the automatic Top-Up feature (which is linked to my credit union account) to check out my eBay shopping cart. This was supposed to be a SINGLE transaction for about $250 or so. This would have been only one $28 insufficient funds fee plus the top up amount charged to my credit union account. But for some reason PayPal had broken it up into individual transactions per item in the shopping cart. They kept on charging my bank for these individual amounts in $10 increments. Which has resulted in my nwcc account now being $803 overdrafted. This goes against paypals user agreement policy in the automatic top up section. Once I brought it to their attention, PayPal fixed the issues on their end an even provided me with an email to send to my credit union explaining the technical issues and error on their end, and a their external request to reverse the insufficient funds fees and transactions. Especially since they didn't go through anyway they were just attempts. So here's the part that I really don't get and makes it feel really personal and illegal, my credit union reversed five of the fees but will not do the remaining 12 that are from the same single transaction. Instead they are requiring that PayPal pays for it even though the transaction did not go through. The credit union will not provide me with a statement to provide to PayPal requesting that they pay for the wrongful remaining insufficient funds the charges, they will not provide me with an explanation as to why they only reverse five of the insufficient funds fees, and they are closing out my account and sending me to collections. I personally feel that by them reversing five of them is them acknowledging and admitting that it was an error. And that they're ignoring the rest of them is a personal attack on me in an attempt to just get rid of me because I do not make them any interest. I'm more than willing to provide all documentation to prove what I'm saying from both my PayPal account and my Northwest community credit Union account.

I have been a member for only about a year since getting recommended by my family & friends. Everything was fine until I started struggling with finding work and had received multiple insufficient funds fees. I wanted to discuss this with a supervisor due to what I was going through financially and when I called they stated they couldn’t transfer me over that they had to put in a request and call me back. I worked for a credit union for five years and was a call center manager & had never heard of such an inconvenient way to address member concerns or needs. I never got a follow up from them, just a letter in the mail offering me some financial literacy classes. Currently in the process of leaving this credit union & have advised my family & friends to close their accounts as well. Please take this into consideration if you’re considering this CU.

DO NOT get a bank account here. I’ve been a customer for over 2 years now and I’m deciding to finally close my account. Only because of their HORRIBLE overdraft fees. They even apply the $28 dollar fee when I even have a little bit of money on my account. They have taken hundreds of dollars from me and only reversed one of them for me. They are a horrible horrible bank if you need to do more than three transactions a day. Please don’t open an account here for your own sanity, there are plenty of banks with no overdraft fees.

Friendly staff and a nice place. The only challenge I have is that it is an inconvenient location. They closed the Oregon City office which means that I have to go here.
CJ, thank you for taking the time to share your experience! And we really appreciate that you come up to see us!

Worst credit union ever. What feedback could you possibly give. You did not even inquire what issues i had. Just one more reason you guys are the worst credit union ever. You would rather have a cover all response than create an effective action plan.
Hi Pamela - Thank you for taking the time to write us. I'm sorry to hear this. I have passed on your feedback to our management team.

One of their members sold me a car that was a lemon. I paid off their member's lien, and because their member messed up on paperwork, they (Northwest Community Credit Union) still technically own my car 5 months later and are REFUSING to help at all. I'm literally driving around with their car, even though I paid off that loan with $11K cash, and they straight up won't assist at all. What a mess of a credit union.
Hi Michael - Thank you for taking the time to write us and let us know about your experience. I'd like to hear more about this situation. Feel free to email us more about this at [email protected].

Absolute worst banking experience. They’ve messed up my loan for my car so many times and threatened to take it away because of their errors and make it impossible to make additional payments to pay it off sooner or even talk to anyone to get help.
