I've been a member of this bank since they merged with Ocean Communities dating back a few years. I applied for an auto loan this past Monday at 9am online. I asked for a term of 72 months. The website said I would get a response within 24 hours. 24 hours came and went. Nothing. 48 hours came and went. Nothing. So I called customer service only to find out the loan officer that was assigned my application wasn't working for the next couple of days. It would have been nice to have that communicated, but it wasn't. The customer service rep said I would be receiving a call from my branch within the next two hours from a new loan officer. 4 hours passed. Nothing. I went into the bank personally. A young man looked into my account and said "I'll notate the account to make sure someone contacts you." The following morning (three days and 72 hours later) I get a phone call around 11am from a young man to let me know that I'm approved. I start the process of collecting paperwork to move forward. I arrive at the bank and begin to discuss the loan, when I'm informed of the loan terms, which is now 48 months instead of 72, like I had asked. Not once did anyone communicate to me that my terms weren't accepted until I inquired about them. That should have been communicated immediately, as the new loan terms were beyond what I could afford financially. He then reccomended that I apply for a personal loan so he could put in a request for me to get a 60 month term. I agreed. 24 hours passed. Zero communication. I called the bank, a young man answers and says "I'm sorry we're too busy to look into your loan, call us back in a half an hour." I called back every 30 minutes for 2 hours. Nobody answered. The bank closed. I informed the seller of the car that I was unable to acquire a loan. He told me today that he can't wait any longer because he has a cash buyer, and has decided to sell the car this afternoon. I'm also without transportation because my cars transmission is dead. Needless to say, I'm beyond frustrated. Myself and my family will be closing our accounts and seeking a new institution. The customer service and communication here has been horrendous, and it cost me a reliable car because your employees couldn't do their jobs, let alone communicate basic details. This is not how you serve your customers. I wish I could give zero stars.

Always horrific service. Best interest rates but always the worst service of any bank I've ever been to.

    Response from the owner

I know a lot of times people write a review when they have a bad experience. I had looked at the reviews on Northeast credit union before coming in which made me a little hesitant. I was immediately greeted and set up with Rex who is one of the lone/account officials. Rex was very personable, professional and accommodating to all my account needs today. I would recommend doing business with Northeast.

    Response from the owner

Thank you for the review. Rex is awesome! We're so happy he was able to assist you. ~Jess

I have a car loan through this bank. Last month, I was unable to pay my loan due to unforeseen circumstances. In 3 years, this was the first loan payment that I missed! I received a phone call last week from a man, and when I explained that I was waiting to get paid before I could make the payment, I was met with a passive aggressive tone from the bank representative. This morning I received another phone call. I spoke to a girl on the phone that was so cavalier and diminutive of me, it actually brought me to tears. She continued to lecture me on money and being an adult. I was absolutely floored. This person knows nothing about my life, and was actually laughing at me while we were speaking. I don't know what kind of customer service training the employees are offered, but I hope that it is not the standard and the norm of this bank to have its representatives belittle customers.

    Response from the owner

Hi Kirsten - Thank you for lending with us for the past 3 years. This does not sound like the quality of service we aim to provide to our members. We are always looking for ways to improve, so your feedback is greatly appreciated. Would you mind speaking with us, so we can hear more about your experience? -Jess

The Credit Union makes account changes with no notice to members, this is the second time they have done this to me. I recall a couple of years ago when they went to the new fancy checking account and a fee was added, they swapped all members and raked in the money. I notice it after 6 months and got my money back, they admitted no notice was given. Today I tried to get into my on line banking, surprises they changed that with no notice. I cant get the new sign up procedure to work, have called twice. If you people change things it is just common sense to make your customers aware!

Very friendly staff. But not a very good banking institution. Multiple times within my first year I found money missing from my account never to be found again. The ATM outside this location never works. Not a very good way to manage the working man's money. Stay away from this Bank!

Nothing but a comedy of errors and horrible customer service from management to customer service. I was a former Ocean Communities member and the transfer to Northeast has been horrible. I have had 15 loans with this bank and a loyal member to be treated this way is a shame.. Shame on Them.....

    Response from the owner

Hi Kathy - Member service is extremely important to us, so I'm very sorry to hear you haven't had a positive experience. Would you mind messaging us, so we can look further into your situation? ~Jess

My husband has a business account with this FCU, up until today I had planned on closing both of my accounts one with Northeast Credit Union and the other Biddeford Savings Bank to switch to this FCU - however after attempting to take $80.00 out of their ATM to purchase a money order at their bank, the ATM spit out $60.00 and charged me $82.00. After proving to them that I was, in fact, debited $82.00 and only given $60.00, they essentially called us a liar and a thief despite the video camera confirming my husband counting $60.00 out of the ATM. They claimed that the ATM had sufficient amount of money in it. Needless to say, I will not be opening an account with this credit union

They Charge a $32.00 fee to put a stop payment on a $150.00 check. Picture perfect of corporate greed out of control and they have no shame about it.

    Response from the owner

Hi Jean-Claude - I completely understand where you're coming from - no one wants to be charged added fees. However, most credit unions charge between $25 - $40 to stop a payment. This is to cover the cost of the programs needed to stop the payment and the time for the Member Service Representative to manually stop it. Please let me know if you'd like to discuss this further and I can have a Member Service Representative reach out. ~Jess
