I just opened an account, and I have been unable to get through to customer service. Their app doesn't let you send questions through chat or email, and it's a very glitchy app. No one answers the phone. I was trying to switch from Schwab, but now I realize Schwab isn't nearly as bad as Merrill Edge. I would not recommend them to anyone.

This office lost $38,001.64 that was sent to them by my credit union and designated for my Roth IRA account. After over 2 months, Merrill finally agreed to send a letter to my credit union indicating that they would not cash the check so that a stop payment could be issued. The highest levels of Merrill Lynch, although they finally wrote the necessary letter, did not satisfactorily resolve this issue in light of the time, aggravation, and loss of return on investment that resulted. Had I been late on a payment to them, I am certain that they would have slapped a penalty on me, but they have shown no remorse for their error.

Or if you prefer, you can choose an individual Advisor you like to work with. I have dealt with Scott Baron for years. I have complete faith that my financial future is safe in Scott's hands.
