If I could give no stars I would. The hospital failed to provide me with the necessary forms to send to the Veterans Administration to have my case processed for payment by the VA. I called them more than 9 times, wrote them requesting they provide the information to the VA (as requested by the hospital and the VA, but the hospital willfully failed to do), and subsequently visiting the hospital on 3 occasions while in agonizing pain, recuperating from a broken back, where they knowingly gave me the wrong forms. Then, they willingly forward the unpaid bill (because of them) to collections. My only recourse at this point is to take them to court. My opinion is that if you're sick, don't go there. All they concern themselves with is the money. Even my parents quit doing business with them because they charged them for services not rendered, and make them pay to park. In my opinion, they are crooks and deserve to be treated the same manner in which they treat you. They're an embarrassment to the medical community, especially when they value money over a patients welfare.

2nd time in 2 yr span I was forced to spend time in this hospital. First time 2 yrs ago had IV in both arms, and tube in my stomach. I got no physical therapy and almost died from a blood clot. The hospital was dirty, no one helped me with personal hygiene, and 5 men in my ward. It was cold and damp during my 2 month stay. SECOND time for hernia surgery redo had same problem but I only staid one night. However I still have a blood tube in my stomach. My wife had to take catheter out herself the next day as staff was busy. Richard Burlew

My mother has been here 3 times and this hospital is consistently awful. Uncaring nurses. They don’t manage pain even though they claim that it is their goal. They never update (also a claimed goal) the patient as to what is happening. All you can do is wait in pain wondering. Its the worst. Will never go here again!

    Response from the owner

We’re sorry to hear about your mother’s experience, Josh. We will address this with hospital leadership.

Dr. Joe Chen a GI doctor did not see my daughter before her test nor did he come to see her after the test. She was told to contact him on Friday but no one got back to her. She is now having the same problem and of course will not go back there Dr. Chen is not a professional person.

    Response from the owner

We are sorry to hear about your experience with Dr. Joe Chen. We will make sure to pass this along to hospital leadership for their review. Do you mind emailing us the name of the patient and your contact information at [email protected]?

I had my baby on April 18 2017 and the staff treated me like family. My first nurse Nora was wonderful with me. She answerd all my questions and was allways asking me and my husband if we needed anything. I also want to thank the rest of the nurses and staff (sorry I don't remember the names) and my doctor Jose Luis De La Rosa. I am so happy I choose Los Alamitos Medical Center to have my baby girl Geraldine. We will be forever grateful. Thank You.

I had a family member hospitalized here for 1 week on the 2nd floor. Excellent staff all around; food service workers, reception desk, PT. Nurses provided top notch care, IMO best care of any hospital I have visited or worked at (as a healthcare worker).

    Response from the owner

We love hearing our staff took such great care of you, Michelle! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Tonight's E.R. experience was not to be believed. I signed in at 7:00 p.m. When I signed in there were three people in the waiting room. However, the back was very busy, which is understandable on a Friday night. I presented with excruciating pain all over my body, particularly my back and neck. I could not turn my neck. I told the triage nurse I had fibromyalgia and I had fractured a bone in my back last month, however I couldn't walk more than 50 feet unaided. The admitting nurse was very helpful and accommodating, as was triage. I was taken back to the E.R. and placed on a gurney to get an e.k.g. Then I was asked to wait in the lobby for there were no beds available. Fine, I understand that. When I got back to the lobby, about 20 people had come in and apparently, I had lost my place on the waiting list. Out of nowhere, I man appeared, and he was as high as a kite on drugs.(wearing an armband indicating he was a patient). He disturbed everyone. The lone security guard seemed completely unable to control him. He kept telling him to go outside and without 60 seconds, he came back in, harassing everyone in the waiting room. We were told they couldn't do anything (such as isolating him) and they cops "should be called, but we cannot right now."! WTH? I was there three hours, and he continued to pay cat and mouse with the security guard with was as ineffective as possible in controlling this patient. Whey was he not isolated in a separate part of the hospital? Any hospital I've ever been to, that would have been a given. For some unknown reason - and despite the description of my symptoms, they insisted on running a blood test to test my cardiac enzymes. I don't understand that, since I did not present with signs even remotely resembling cardiac issues. When my friend who was accompanying me checked to see when I would be taken care of (this was at 10:00 p.m.), she was told "'probably the middle of the night. It was during this messy encounter at the E.R., that a nurse came out to take people's blood right there in the lobby, and administer pain medication. I've never been to a hospital like this, and believe me, I would have to be unconscious to ever return.

    Response from the owner

We're sorry we didn't meet your expectations, Lisa. We will look into your concerns with the staff.

The only good thing about this place was the ultrasound technician, she was extremely helpful and very courteous. The rest of the staff were exceptionally rude and uneducated. I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN!!

If you're dying and it's a choice between an excruciating death or being treated here, choose death. That's how bad this place is.
