WOW.. totally the BEST service I have ever had!! I call at 10am on Tuesday about a refinance on my Lexus . Talked to Debra gave her the information and by 3:00 - it was all DONE!! Lowered my payments $182 a month!! Came in and signed papers with Heather which took 5 minutes. The best and smoothest transaction I have ever done! What a fabulous Credit Union! They also have many give back to the community.. Love that

Wish I could give 0 stars. Drove all the way there after speaking on the phone to a rep about getting my name removed as a co-signer for an auto loan after a divorce and was told both of us would have to come in person. We get terri and she says there is no way to "remove" it. It is a contract. I WILL BE LOOKING INTO SUEING.

I tried to open a new account on Jan 4, 2021. Was told nobody was available. I used the online platform to open an account. Was told someone would contact me in 2 days. I called back on the 6th, was told nobody was available to talk to me. I called back on the 7th (today) and waited 43 minutes before someone from their "online" team took my call. She offered an apology for my wait and then proceeded to ask me to verify everything that I had already submitted online. I mean everything...I understand name, dob and SSN but then it just kept going. I reached my limit and asked her to cancel the application. I totally get the negative comments here. It shouldn't be this hard to give somebody your money. No need for KCU to comment on my post with the standard apology commentary followed by an offer to contact them. Your efforts should be focused internally and then maybe you won't have to make so many apologies.

    Response from the owner

We are so sorry to hear that you had a frustrating experience. I understand that you do not want a standard apology, but we are truly sorry that you did not have the simple and easy experience we strive to provide. Member service is always our top priority and we would love to learn more about your experience so we can improve in the future. If you'd like to leave any additional feedback, we'd love for you to send us an email to [email protected].

KCU has been amazing for my family. My mom always had them and got me a teen account when I was little and I've been with them ever since. I have had multiple loans, a joint car loan and have had them help me build my credit back up after ruining it in my 20s. My husband and I have always been treated well. Their app is easy to navigate and their website has a ton of info. Even when my mom passed away and we had a lot of random things to deal with they helped me figure things out (estate checks and such).

    Response from the owner

Thank you for all the kind words! We're thrilled that you're so happy with your membership and we look forward to continue serving you and your family.

I refinanced my auto loan two years ago with KCU. I'm young and dont have much credit so really I was just happy to get a rate under 7%. My first experience was when I went to make my monthly payment online they charged 15 dollars fee to use a third party website. And if I called it was 20 dollars convenience fee to process over the phone. So for over the past year I've driven into gig harbor and made the payment since they dont have a closer branch. Last month when I went in they asked how much I would like to pay and I said my monthly payment. She said it was 1050 or so dollars (normal is 567). They told me how they had a problem with my insurance and added coverage to my payment. So after contacting my company it turns out they had an old credit card and I forgot to update it (totally my responsibility). I updated my policy and gave KCU the information. I informed them that I didn't have the extra 453 dollars at the moment and asked why they contracted Allied insurance to provide coverage when they clearly just took every penny they could knowing the customer would have no choice to pay it or have the car repossessed. They explained how it was to insure that their asset could be repaid in the event of an accident and I fully understand that. But my problem is, if geico gives me 200,000 in personal injury coverage, protects my car and the other persons car for 131 a month. How do they justify 453 a month just to cover my car, no personal injury or damages to the other parties vehicle. The lady told me I probably would get a refund and they would sort it out and give me a call back, I thanked her and waited. Today I got a call from the same very nice well mannered lady(not sarcastic here) and she told me they had processed everything and I had gotten a refund for the insurance. I thanked her and was very pleased. She said my payment next month would be 784 dollars (I assumed fees) and I said that will be fine. She ended the statement by saying this would continue until January. I asked her how that was if it was a refund. She explained how all the refund was is they wouldn't continue to make me pay the extra 400 and whatever a month for six months until the policy expired. I told her that's very dishonest language and it isn't a refund for not making me pay for a policy they are not providing since I have insurance and am no longer covered by the policy. She told me that's just how they word it to customers. I told her I understand and shes just doing her job but politely asked for a manger to call me back so I could talk with them. We both said have a nice day and ended the phone call. Half an hour later my phone rings again "hello I'm looking for miles. "Yes speaking" "I was told you wanted a call back for some reason?" I told her about the whole situation, about how the insurance was added without a phone call or email to me (they sent a letter but I was born in 1994 and dont do mail, again my bad) she understood but couldn't do anything and I understand. So this is where things went off. I told her the reason I wanted to speak with management is I didn't understand why they contacted a company like allied to provide insurance that was over 300% more expensive while providing 1/3rd the coverage instead if a company that would do a reasonable rate. She explained how they need to protect the asset, I understand that but again asked why use such a company? She said they had been with Allied for a long time and didn't want to change. My response was if you went to a gas station for years and they started charging 300% more for gas wouldn't you change? "That's not the same thing at all Miles, you are going way to far with this!" I thought it was a good analogy. When I told her how they didn't refund and shouldn't have people say that she yelled at me. I would explain more but google has a word cap. But I went to my banker at U.S bank who I love an hour after the call and refinanced my car for 4.4%. KCU lost 3,744 dollars in interest I would have paid over 2 years because they dont deserve my money and certainly not yours

Was going to refinance my auto loan through them, via a flyer they sent me in the mail. I was half way through the process, then I was informed to make a payment via phone I would be charged a fee. Seriously..... and their closest branch is 30 minutes from my house. After reading these other reviews I am glad I declined the offer.

While the tellers I dealt with in person were friendly, I would never send a loved one to this credit union...maybe an enemy. We had a car loan from he** with Kitsap Credit Union. We never received timely statements. The statements we did receive lacked information on the amount owing, etc. When I called to ask questions about our loan I would get the run around and few answers. When we finally paid off the loan, they gave our bank a hard time about getting the payoff amount. My banker said she'd never seen anything like it in over 10 years in the business. I would NEVER recommend this institution to anyone.

KCU is a fantastic credit union with customer service that consistently goes above and beyond. The GH branch is no exception. In particular, Nicole and Debbie showed grace and empathy when helping my wife deal with a difficult estate issue involving her late mothers. I can't say enough about the many positive experiences I've had over the years. Thank you KCU, I recommend everybody switch from your bank to KCU immediately!

    Response from the owner

Good morning David! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Nicole and Debbie were so touched by your feedback and again, please accept our sincerest condolences to you and your wife. Thank you for your kind words and support as well. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please let us know. We're here for you!

This isn't an issue with this particular building, but KCU is an absolutely garbage credit union. They make it next to impossible to make online payments, which ends up making you pay a fee so they can do it for you. They offer no online help, their website doesn't have a FAQ, and to top it all off they straight up lie to you about your account numbers. To make an online payment, you have to have the first six digits of your account number, but all of the account numbers are only four digits long. I'm never taking another loan from KCU again.

I hate this bank. Very old, very outdated systems and operations. The website is very hard to navigate. I always have a problem and all I want to do is set my car payments on automatic from my other account. I'm beyond frustrated with this bank. I've tried more than once to just do simple things on the website and it's so not user friendly. As soon as I can refianace with another bank I will and never look back.
