Short story: Snarky, incompetent bank teller who shamed my cancer-diagnosed mother for going through the drive-through instead of coming inside. Due to her cancer sometimes is very weak so getting out of the car isn't always an option for her. Long story: My mother (and the company she works for) goes to the bank on a weekly basis. She is very detailed and thorough, and always has her deposit prepped and ready, organized, and with a slip already completed. She always has the items in the bank stacked in the same order. The bank teller was rude to her from the start, questioning her items, the order, etc. in a very judgmental manner. She couldn't seem to get it together, stating that my mother didn't provide a deposit slip. My mother informed her that she did, in fact, complete and provide a deposit slip. When the teller finally found it, she stated rudely, "You stuck it under something else". The woman continued to berate my mom. Then, while still on the intercom, the bank teller said something very rude and snarky about my mother being too lazy to come inside, not knowing my mother could hear her. My mother politely but sternly called her out, stating that she has always gone through the drive through, always prepares her deposits that way, and that she has never had an issue till today. The woman was presumably embarrassed for having made multiple mistakes and having been caught talking trash about customers, causing her to refuse to make eye contact with my mother and to cease handling her deposit. Another bank teller got involved to complete my mother's initial deposit. Ultimately, This location is ableist, rude, and distasteful. Sad that you disrespect your customers and say snarky things about them when you think they aren't listening, and that you cannot hire competent tellers.

I've been banking at Hometrust since they were known as "Clyde Savings and Loan" 40-some years ago. I've had a lot of great experiences with Hometrust, and on those few occasions when I considered switching to a different bank, something else happened to convince me not to. Most recently, home loan specialist Katie Lusk went to bat for me to get a home loan despite my ex- missing 3 payments on our marital home, which would normally be a deal breaker with any mortgage lender. Before that, when my debit card got hacked, the bank quickly staunched the illicit money flow before it emptied my account, and I was held responsible for zero dollars of unauthorized purchases. Before that, it was head teller David Kopelstein who handed me $12,000 on my Citibank card without the normal 3-day waiting period so I could grab a great deal on a car. Every time I have made a transaction in this bank, their staff has been friendly, courteous, and efficient. Nothing but good experiences for me. Good, and great.

I called due to a refund not posting to my account for over a week. I called and the first Customer Service agent investigated, found the issue, and assured me that the refund would post by noon the following day. Needless to say that did not happen and I called back. I get Ethan as a rep and explain to him what was going on and what was found. Ethan read the notes, stated he didn't know how she got the information even though I explained the back office found the issue. He kept saying he didn't know and he can't see it. I asked why the earlier rep could and he literally said, maybe I am to stupid to know. He then became rude and belligerent. I asked for his first name again which he gave me. I asked for his last so I knew EXACTLY who to complain about and he said he wasn't giving me that and HUNG UP ON ME! This bank used to be terrific. Now the Customer Service is horrendous and I am looking for a new bank. Follow-Up, now I am trying to purchase a Norton subscription and for some dumb reason they are marking it as fraud and notified me. Who has NOT heard of Norton products like web and computer anti-virus products? This bank is the worst.

I have been banking here for over 15 years Every time I come to deposit my monthly check they question weather its a good check or not or I am told that they will have to hold the funds and every time I have to say no you don't have to hold the check as I have plenty of money on the banks to cover it. Home town bank? They don't even seem to know who I am or that I have been a customer for such a long time Or that I have made that same deposit from the same company for over 13 years.

I opened a free checking and savings account here. I used use the account all that often but always kept the balance above the minimum. Without notifying me they decided to start charging a monthly maintenance fee on my account and emptied the funds from the account entirely and then created a NEGATIVE balance of fees. They never contacted me and literally stole my money. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. They are as unethical as BOA if not worse. Shameful for a local bank to act this way towards their customers.

I recently got a mortgage at Hometrust. They beat the best available rates by half a point. The process was done almost entirely on line with email and phone assistance that was never delayed, and always very friendly. The product was as expected, and without surprises. Closing happened sooner than projected. I called a local branch regarding my first payment, and they answered immediately, answering my questions in a courteous and helpful manner. This was my experience. I would refer a friend.

I'm editing this again. Without going into detail, they've cost me a lot of money and time telling me the wrong things and changing their minds about how my accounts work. Looking for a new bank First the good: the people there are very nice, at least the cashiers. Now the bad: keep getting "dear valued customer" letters, where they increase fees and increase fees and increase fees. Wish they didn't value me so much. 8/29/16 update: now cannot even get through when you call. direct line they provided is disconnected. Big bankness is destroying them.

I have gotten 3 mortgages/refinances through Home Trust and have been very impressed by the professionalism and courtesy of the bank. I have shopped around a lot and found their rates to be much better than the the vast majority of banks. Don't even bother with B of A or Wells Fargo. John Myers at Home Trust has been especially helpful in navigating the refinance process and I will be a customer for years to come.

Christopher McFatter and Hometrust just made all my hard work and dreams come true. I finally closed on buying an existing business. Couldn't be happier with how Christopher and his team handled my SBA Loan.

Switching banks after they stole $500 from my friend, and it was such a pain to get them to do anything about it. Super hard to communicate with, super hard to get any answers from. Watching him go through all of that does not make me want to bank with these difficult people. It’s been a month since they took it from his account, and they still haven’t given it back. Con artists.
