    Opened their free checking over a month ago, paid $$ for checks and have yet to receive them. I went in to request 2 bank checks (since I cannot write any checks myself due to no checkbook) and they charged me $10 without the telling me. The reason I had to make a trip to the branch and ask for the checks was because my check order never came, which I explained to the teller. When I messaged ask them about the fees, they told me to pound sand. They said that these are fees they cannot reverse, with no explanation. They won't even refund me for the checks I ordered that I never received. So GLCU cost me $45, tons of frustration and 0 service.. Real nice for a credit union. If you want a credit union that offers terrific service and a 4.09%APY on free checking balances, go to Consumers Credit Union. Anyone can join and they are top-notch. Message from their specialist below: We apologize for the situation that occurred. This is part of our fee schedule. Unfortunately those are not fees we are able to refund. If you do want to proceed with closing your account, you can complete this at a branch. We can also complete this request via this message, please just reply with your address and that you wish to close the account, we will mail you a check for the account balance.     Customer service practically non-existent, and I've been locked out of my account for no reason so many times I've lost count. I totally gave up on online banking because of this huge waste of time. (Maybe they're great if you go in person but that's not what I'm looking for)

    I was very pleased with their service. Very friendly and professional. They helped me set up a savings account and also a checking account. Answered all my questions. Very nice group of ladies.

    Very rude person at door. I understand the Covid restrictions as far as mask, social distancing, etc. but why do they make you show 2 ID before you come in?? Illinois Drivers License isn’t enough? Then she proceeded to berate me for coming in instead of using drive through ( even though I explained why). Very rude service, I will be finding a new bank/credit union after this experience

    No sure why people are so down on this place. The customer service I receive her is always satisfactory, fast, and correct. Community banks are the way to go and this one has some of the best rates and APYs in the nation. Chill out folks

    We stopped by drive through so slow and so rude. Why they've been like this always??? I read comments of other people.. They had same problems. I planned to open my account. Glad I did not.

    I came here as a shared branch member to make a withdrawal. The customer service I received today was less then satisfactory. They seemed annoyed and took their time to see me, letting me wait while no one was in line. They did not say "hello how are you today" or "thank you have a nice day" the tellers just continued their conversation after I finished my transaction. I won't go here again or recommend it.

    These people are horrible. My family is living paycheck to paycheck and instead of depositing the $1800 into my account, they withdrew $1800 plus the overdraw fees. We're in so much debt and we have bills coming up. Don't trust this bank - they've screwed me over so many times. Choose BMO or Chase, anything other than this. I'm now financially ruined and I've been on hold for an hour. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

    Credit Union Ripped me off. I deposited 2 big containers of change that we saved up for a vacation trip. I knew approximate amounts and they told me how much it was. $131 for one container and $343 for the other container. They were big almost all quarters. The teller needs a job where she doesn't deal with the public, she doesn't smile, she seems to hate her job and hate the customers, but that's a different issue. I saved my receipt because something about it didn't feel right. I was worried due to her terrible attitude that they might try to pull some BS on me. A few days later, they called and left me a message that the amount was only $34 in the one container. They said the "Cardboard they wrote it down on proved it" LOL. I have the receipt. I know the amounts are correct. We'll see what the Illinois Regulatory agency has to say. I'll gladly raise my review a few points if they give my money back and discipline the employee who did this, but until then, ,my advice is not to use this bank and especially not their change counter! If you can't trust your bank,who can you trust. very scary. Don't bank here!
