I have dealt with GUCU a very long while and I stay with them after moving to another state. My experience has been consistently positive. They hire sharp folk who are very good at their jobs. On one occasion, in a bizarre financial emergency I didn't see coming, they helped me out when technically they should not have. They recognized my history with them and helped out a member.

Horrible people who are looking for an excuse to reject you. No transparency in the process or decision making, poor communication. They jerked our chain for a week, kept making up new hurdles for us to clear on an hourly basis, and straight up lied to us about what their extremely fungible requirements are. We were told by a very helpful loan officer at another institution that they probably thought our file was a little messy at first glance, even though we make plenty of money, have low debt, and decent credit, and they were looking for an excuse to bounce us. We were told by a number of acquaintances in the real estate industry that GA United was unnecessarily difficult and obstructive, but we had already started the process. They were incredibly cavalier with my family’s ability to have a place to live, and they wasted our valuable time, knowing that the rental house we live in is about to be sold and we had to move quickly. Absolutely disgraceful way to do business, and at the end, wouldn’t even allow me to speak with the underwriters. I was told it wasn’t because of any legal barriers, or even institutional rules. They just didn’t want to talk to me, or even get a direct email. That’s how GA United does business.

I provided valuable information to a lending consultant name Kevin Whitten during our email exchanges last month. Sadly, Mr Whitten unsuccessfully help me for a loan. If I ever re-request a loan from this company futuristically, I hope to have a representative that actually care to diligently help on any given situation I provide. If not, at least find appointed representative that qualifies. Update response: I sent an email to the address provided within your response and on your website for the Duluth location. Sadly, the email address does not receive messages and I did not receive feedback from your website. Thus, I am not going to resubmit my information.

They helped me out with my first auto loan and set me up with a solid rate. They seem like a pretty solid credit union. There was quite a bit of paperwork back and forth between me, the loan agent, and the dealership but I guess that’s to be expected for an first time auto loan

I spent 45-60 minutes in the teller line at Lithonia branch, and if you needed a representative, the wait surpassed 1.5 -2 hours! The manager temporarily helped the sole, pregnant woman with customers until he decided to take a break and head to his office with chips and soda while the line increased by the second. Several people gave up and left, while others complained that they had missed their entire lunch hour. I'm not a branch manager, nor have a desire to, but this one is failing at it horribly. Either they need to hire more tellers or customer service representatives need to work the lines, as I notice several walking around looking busy. I joined GFCU in 1980, and this lack of customer service was my first. I typically go to Conyers Branch, where long lines exist, but they are adequately staffed; but since I was in the Lithonia area, I decided to stop here. Big mistake!! It's a travesty for the Corporate office to allow this to happen, and not offer assistance. I'll just try to stick to Conyers Branch in the future because like the other complaining customers, this place is ridiculous in how they treat members.

I have given a review before, but I wanted to add a little extra appreciation for the GUCU-Corporate Office! Any time I reach out with a problem, they are so prompt and friendly. I just finished my first home loan process with them and WOW, am I impressed. Of course, the typical process of sending in so much information for them to officially approve us is a pain, but that's normal. They are very communicative and helpful. Thank you Toni and Paige!

Sadly, I see a lot of 1 star reviews but it’s about people getting denied for a loan. That’s no reason to give a bank a 1 star review. However, as a customer of GFCU for 30+ years, I am saddened this day has come. The bank has totally transformed from a very professional establishment to a very unprofessional establishment. After several negative experiences, I realized the bank is done. My last situation today on the phone with Kristina was the icing on the cake. It’s not just her, it has been several staff members over the years. In person or on the phone. Once in a while you might get a super friendly manager on, I forget his name but he’s great. Sad day to see this bank go so far downhill. Eventually after 30+ years of being a member, I will be moving to another bank. Edit - and no I’m not reaching out to your team to give you info you’ll do nothing with. This review is your info. Use it accordingly.

I’ve had a handful of awful experiences regarding customer service. I really loved this bank 10 years ago. My god have things changed. What a horribly run organization. Update: Man I hate this bank. I called again today needing customer service and I was greeted by an incredibly rude member, Kristin. Then followed up by an even more rude member, Char. After waiting on hold for 22 minutes to even be CONNECTED to Kristin, I was transferred and then Char acted as if anything I was asking of her was an inconvenience. I am just amazed at all the terrible that keeps coming from this bank. Totally unprofessional. All the time. Worst bank ever. Worst customer service. The absolute worst. Cannot wait to transition to a new provider.

Poor customer service even the manager doesn’t return calls and emails and I’m speaking of the loan manager. The loan lady removed gap from my vehicle then refused to redraft the loan docs adding it back on her reasoning was because she felt I didn’t need it as if she makes the decisions for my life they have the worst customer service think again.
