Went into FHB Waipahu to make a payment for my mother's car loan as I have done many, many, MANY TIMES! This time however, I am told I cannot make the payment because I don't have her loan # (which I didn't have every single time prior). I politely explain that they typically search for her account and I make the payment. Now, Mom is 82 with Alzheimer's so taking her out isn't a simple process. However, the Operation Supervisor just flat out refuses me and directs I bring her in. She remarks about my seeing loan #'s which I replied they could not print it as they have previously. Nor, the balance. I just need to make the payment. Bottom line was NO. Even if I have done it over - over. When I called Customer Service they were equally as confused since people make deposits to accounts of others which is fine so long as the account number and balance are not disclosed. I was encouraged to try a different branch. The thing is I shouldn't HAVE to do that! So, FHB Waipahu will help depending on how the wind BLOWS.

Old Ewa Beach branch was better. Everytime I come in for a simple teller transaction it's a minimum 15 minute wait in line.

First off I absolutely hate giving negative reviews. Secondly I can usually find the positive in some thing. However, this new location is an absolute train wreck. The old location was better than this and it was no joy ride either but I would’ve given the last location at least two stars. The parking was fairly easy and there were plenty of tellers and banking professionals to speak with. Yes the building was old and needed an update but with the money they must’ve spent on this new location they could have easily updated the old location. This shopping center has always been a train wreck when it comes to parking. It is almost always packed and dangerous to even navigate. Too many businesses and not enough parking. Typical Hawaii problems almost anywhere but this parking lot has drove me to the point that I never shop at any of the businesses just so I can void the parking lot. Upon entering their new location for the first time there was a line almost out the door. I was 12 people deep and people kept coming in. Eventually one of the banking professionals not sure what to call them because they were not a teller and they were not helping anyone kicked some people out because there was too many people on the inside. The obvious problem is that this location only has two spots for banking tellers. I have used Bank of Hawaii and been at their new location and there is a customer service representative or multiple customer service representatives that walk around and take care of remedial transactions keeping the lines short. There was no such person in place the day I was here. It took 45 minutes for me to get to the teller to do a simple deposit and transfer. This is not something I could’ve done at the ATM because of the size of the transaction. This took almost my entire lunch break to do. Even the tellers were visibly frustrated and my conversation with the teller provided confirmation of their frustration. Someone at First Hawaiian needs to drastically change the functionality and internal processes of how this location operates. Who’s master plan was it to only have two locations for tellers but have six conference rooms that go unutilized? Something needs to change. The people come first and it seems that somebody forgot that when designing and implementing the systems at place at this location.

Unfortunately, I did not get the tellers name, but I did not appreciate her attitude. It seemed that she did not want to cash my check there. All I wanted to do was cash my check and she had told me due to the pay date on the check, she will not cash the check. However, I have cashed checks there before not at this location, but the Waipahu location and they never gave me any issues. Keep in mind that I have had an account with FHB for years, and they never had any issues. I felt that she was being rude and that she was just trying to clock to close the store noticing that it was about to be 4pm. She did not give any reason to why she could not cash the check. All she left me with was, "NO, I can't do it," and when continuing to ask her why she told me the same thing. With all these bad reviews, this location should either talk to their team about the customer service, or do a sweep of new workers. IF NOT, SHOULD DEFINITELY CLOSE THIS LOCATION DOWN. After this experience, I am now CONSIDERING OF CLOSING MY ACCOUNT AND MOVE TO BANK OF HAWAII. FIX THIS NOW BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.
