Sorry, Palatine... you were the first one in my Google search. Consumers Credit Union is, without a doubt, the most poorly-run financial institution with which I've done business. Customer service SUCKS in my opinion. I feel as if they credit a transfer to my account as something they will do "when they get around to it." I'm surprised the lax controls at this particular institution have not resulted in several EFCC/AML investigations.

This union has changed since bought by consumers credit union. Closing my accounts after 25 years. Better service over the phone, online and in person at any other bank over this one. If you want to wait an hour every time you call then this is your bank. If you want your money to just sitting in your account untouched then this is your bank. You deserve better.

It’s outrageously unacceptable you guys are closed for 4 consecutive days to celebrate Veterans Day. You’ve been a quintessential disappointment since the initial merger. I’m getting with the times & opening a Chase account. I’ve had enough of this garbage customer service.

Scan company has someone call me asking for all my bank info and now they are saying that no one ever did that. So someone from this company stole all my bank account information. I will be contacting my lawyer. Do not trust this company they will scam you and steal your personal information

Great service until it was taken over by Consumers Credit Union. Now i cant speak to a real person. On hold forever. Probably going to close account after 10+ years and switch to a big bank.

I have been a Meadows Credit Union member for about 40 years. While the transition to Consumers Credit Union was a bit of a nightmare, it appears they have leveled off and worked out a lot of the ‘kinks’. I do really miss the personalized service when you would call MCU, but understand the need to merge with CCU. It can sometimes take a long time to reach a customer service rep, they are not always well-versed in their particular branches and services and sometimes you get a different answer depending who you talk to. However, they are all super nice, friendly and were sympathetic to my complaints early on with the transition. After thinking about changing banks, I’m glad I’ve decided to stick it out. I am also happy to still see familiar and friendly faces from MCU at the Plum Grove branch!

They are a small time Credit Union attempting to nickel and dime their customers. I highly recommend finding somewhere where you get better service and don't have to worry about keeping an eye on your account each month. You will end up paying for their errors. Nothing is automated; if you do your banking primarily online, this is definitely not the credit union for you. If you have good credit and are looking for a loan, this may be an option, BUT DO NOT GO BEYOND THAT AND KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR ACCOUNT. I signed up for a savings account wherein my car loan payment would be transferred from the savings account each month. I went to check my account and noticed multiple overdrafts; they had taken out the loan payment on the incorrect date every month (the savings account was new and not holding much extra money). I had to speak with the one person who handles loan payments who made an error. Now, I can't make heads or tails of the account because the error wasn't corrected for months. BUT THAT'S NOT THE WORST. I paid my car loan off. I then received notice in the mail one month later that my savings account is at about -$200. When I checked my account, I noticed that they tried to make a payment from my savings account to my car loan-WHICH WAS PAID OFF. When I asked why, they said that the amount that my account was showing was not the amount due on the loan and that I would need to call to get that amount; mind you-I still have no idea how much is due on my loan. They offered to reverse the 2 NSF charges (by the time I found out they were trying to make payments on the paid off loan, two payments had gone by), but they cannot reverse more than that. I now owe them $5/day for the last month and a half because they tried to make a payment to a closed auto loan account.

Went to this location today -- service was TERRIBLE. 1:15 pm in the afternoon I stood in line for 15 minutes to set up a CD. Teller took my cash and deposited to my savings and told me she could not do the CD set up. I would have to wait in another line for that. 30 minutes into that wait I left. I've been a customer of Consumers Cooperative Credit Union for over 20 years -- I've always had great service up to this point. Today was a total let down -- the merger with Meadows CU brought the location closer to my home but my experience today has me thinking about removing my accounts and going elsewhere.

Meadows Credit Union was the best, but then they got purchased and absorbed by Consumers Credit Union... As soon as this happened everything went to hell... They are the WORST. All cards were changed and it took me THREE months to get my new credit card! And because I didn't have the credit card, I couldn't get into online banking because I needed the number on the card in order to do so. For those three hs I had to call in to make payments. The way they charge interest is completely erratic as far as I can tell and I paid off my whole balance so that I wouldn't ever have to deal with them again months ago, yet I just got a notification from my budgeting app telling me Consumers Credit Union has flagged my account as delinquent. And as I experienced in the past already, their phone customer service is horrific. I tried calling and it just rang and rang with bo answer. From memory, I can say that whenever I call Consumers Credit Union it's a struggle to ever talk to a human being and when you get through to a person finally, they generally have no idea what they're talking about and are very poorly trained. Meadows Credit Union was the exact opposite - you always reached a great person who knew exactly what needed done, who to tapk to and could pretty much talk you through anything. I'm sad they are gone. They are calling my account delinquent on BS charges that they never should have charged me "Interest Charge on Cash Advances" (I NEVER took cash out and you can see it in my history) and a "$25" late fee for bot paying that $26.89 cash advance fee. I would add pictures here if I could. DON'T get an account here!!! All the good reviews are from when it was MCU...
