Commerce Bank Clayton Rd, St. Louis

This bank will fine you to death for anything and everything. Tried to close our account after they fined us over $100 for having a balance below $10,000 (which wasn't supposed to happen, they gave us the wrong account type). But the guy failed to close out account fully, so when a subscription got charged to our account (giving us a negative balance) the bank tried to charge us over $100 again! Do not bank with Commerce!

I am exasperated with this bank. The DeMun location was always understaffed such that it was usually a wait of 10 - 15 minutes in line to get to a teller window. But it was convenient to walk to from where I live. Now the DeMun location has closed "temporarily" without notice. A paper flyer on the door does not say when it will open again. It's just too weird when you go to your bank and it's not there, and they didn't have the curtousy to notify customers of this with a letter. I called another branch to ask when my branch is expected to reopen; a recorded message said the hold time will be "20 minutes or more." I have long felt Commerce has very poor customer service compared to other banks. Am planning to close my account after too many annoying experiences with poor customer service there.

My dad took out a student PLUS loan from Commerce to pay for my college education. He deferred the loan due to financial hardship from Covid (he got laid off), and then in turn, Commerce sold the loan to someone else, and now my dad owes $12,000 more then he initially did! Commerce did NOT even inform my dad when they sold his loan. Totally DIRTY, predatory and disgusting. I learned this when I offered to help my dad pay down the loan.

The staff was helpful but we had to wait over twenty minutes for just a print off of a bank statement

As usual when I pull up Michael knows my name says hello to me how late they can help me help me in a timely fashion and everything is great

Spoke with Joe a personal banker regarding to open account. Didn't want to answer my questions over the phone. I felt that he didn't want my business and unprofessional behavior.

I’ve been here for an hour for a simple debit card replacement. Embarrassing.

Only use this branch occasionally. It offers more services than DeMun

Terrible service. Strongly suggest using another bank
