Twice in the same week, I have had my money stolen from Busey owned ATMs. I get the run around and treated as if I am a liar and thief. Excuse me, your bank stole my money, you are the thief. Then proceed for me to wait for my money because of your process that assumes ALL members are guilty because an investigation has to be completed before they refund any money. If they cared about members, they would refund the money, do the investigation and if I did something foul, then take your money back, close my account, call the police. Instead, they make you wait, guilty, until "their" process comes back that I am innocent. The incompetence that comes from this bank is grotesque to be kind about it. The inability for anyone to actually help is like talking to a toddler about quantum mechanics and expecting an answer. I spoke with Jim Smith the area manager for C-U.
Hi Gerald. I apologize for the negative experience that you've had with our bank - this is certainly not the service that we strive to provide our customers. I will follow up with Jim to ensure your account is taken care of.

Busey bank is a scam. I went to the same gas station at the same time that I go to 3-4 times a week and because I spent $5 more than normal they charged my card $75 instead of $30 as a holding fee. It makes absolutely no sense but this place is trash and nothing but problems.
Hello Jennifer, We are sorry to hear you had an unpleasant experience with Busey. Please understand that many gas stations place holds when you use your debit card at the pump as "debit". This is because the gas station wants to ensure your account has enough money to pay for the gas prior to filling your tank. Since they don't know how much gas you are going to pump until you finish filling your tank, they place a pre-authorization hold. These holds are generally for larger amounts as they need to ensure enough funds are held to cover the average amount of gas a customer could pump. It is more common to experience delays on the holds when your gas purchase is made over a weekend. To help avoid issues with large holds on gas purchases, we recommend selecting "credit" at the pump. These types of purchases usually only authorize a $1.00 hold at the beginning of the transaction and the hold typically expires at the end of the sale when the gas pump is placed back on the holder. Please contact our Customer Care team for further questions. https://www.busey.com/busey/customer-care Thank you.

Consistently friendly and helpful staff! Always welcoming and very informative. I recently left another bank because lack of good customer service. Happy to follow recommendations to go to Busey. I have now moved my personal and business accounts here and will be looking to move my loans here as well. Banking products are pretty consistent and what you would typically expect for a bank this size. The service is where it counts.

As a lifelong customer of The Bank of Edwardsville, I was disappointed to hear that the hometown bank would be no more. While I was willing to give Busey a chance, my experience has been far from stellar since the take over. Hold times to speak with a customer service rep, from either their main support line or online chat, has been well over 30 minutes. Because there isn’t a sense of loyalty, I have been trying to figure out why should I remain with Busey when there are so many better options with higher deposit rates (3%-4% rates on a checking accounts at a local hometown credit unions). With the issues I’ve experienced, and the fact Busey is not, nor will it EVER be, The Bank Of Edwardsville, it doesn’t make sense to stick around as loyalty in the banking world means nothing these days. Once you get comfortable and recognize the people at one branch, a merger comes along and you’ve got start all over. While I applaud Busey executives for trying to portray the conversion as a good thing for the community, and force their employees to tell us that Busey will continue to adopt the same values and experience as the Bank of Edwardsville - we all know that isn’t the case. I will be moving my personal and business accounts to another institution and have convinced several others to do the same - an institution that has more of a hometown presence than Busey and offers more perks and better rates.

Recently got our home loan through Busey and Kyle Watson was our loan officer. This was our first home purchase and Kyle worked his butt off for us getting our 30 day closing to happen as scheduled. Even though we live in Georgia now, I went through Busey since I banked with them for a long time being born and raised Champaign. 30 day closings I guess are the norm here in Georgia and Busey typically tries for 45 days, so that definitely put added stress on him, the processors & underwriters, but they got it done. It’s going to be stressful, there will be ups and downs throughout the whole process until you sign the documents for the home. But, in the end when you’re in your home, it all becomes worth it. I want to thank Kyle and his colleagues at Busey for their effort during this process. I would recommend them to friends and family of mine. Sincerely, Shane

As far as banks go, Busey is one of the better ones. The monthly maintenance fee is pretty low (only 5 dollars), and the customer service is always pleasant. Some of the tellers at this location are hot too.

This place is a joke. I recently refinanced with busey and they've been a head ache from day one. Charging me late fees for my first statement I never received. I couldn't pay online due to the fact that they didn't include the complete loan number on my closing documents. I am unable to create reoccurring payments online, I have to mail by bank info to the billing department to make reoccurring mortgage payments? This is 2019 and this is a joke. Hopefully they just sell my mortgage like they did my last one and I won't have to deal with these clowns. They customer service lady was nice but took me an hr to reach someone and she couldn't fully assist me.

Garbage financial institution. They are so uptight about parking that they have a guy on a golf cart running people out of their private parking lot. If that's how they treat potential customers in the parking lot then I can only imagine how you'd be treated in the building. You lost my business and money. I will not bank with any Busey bank.
