The bank manager and staff were nice enough, but the bank refused to acknowledge the financial power of attorney I had over a relative who had an account at the bank. That POA was prepared by a licensed Virginia attorney and was in accordance with virginia law. Moreover, the Bank's processes for establishing payable on death beneficiaries is arcane and outdated - particularly in the case of disabled persons. It is ridiculous that they require signatures on bank cards and forms from account owners who are 100% disabled (i.e., bedridden, unable to use arms and legs and in hospice), and refuse to accept signatures from that person's LEGAL AGENT. As a result, my relative passed away without being able to change the beneficiaries on her accounts. This means that they will now have to be processed via VA intestacy laws with all their associated time and expense. In my view this was a direct violation of the fiduciary duty the bank owed my relative - particularly in view of the VALID power of attorney my relative granted to me - which included the power to manage all of her financial affairs. For cripes sake - major banks (e.g., bank of america) allow management of payable on death beneficiaries through online banking! Does Burke and Herbert bank? Nope - because it is stuck in the freaking stone age! If there was a 0 star rating I would give it. JUST AWFUL. To be clear - I am not upset at the bank manager or the staff. I am, however, FURIOUS at the bank for its absolutely ridiculous and outdated requirements, and its baffling refusal to acknowledge a legal and properly prepared power of attorney.

I was looking for no Star it doesn't have one. Doing my business and personal banking with Burke and Herbert for last 20 years. My main branch is Manchester Lake Alexandria, Awesome people, no complain but recently going to Franconia Rd branch because my address changed. Several times disappointment from rude teller and manager. 0 star review is not an option for Franconia Rd branch review.

No Zelle, no online be banking,can't believe they are still in business in the 21st century

Atm doesn't give back cards. Had to get another one. Wasted my time and highly inconvenient.

Very unhappy business costumer banking here since 1982 I only get service from the branch that knows me, they want to be like the BIG banks but they don't realize we as consumers want the service back,it has been declining for the last 10 years , I used to recommend not anymore.

Watch out. This bank is messing with checks. They are rejecting checks saying the account is closed. This isn't the first time I have had this issue. Had to call here about a family members account. The woman who answered the phone was rude. Kept cutting me off and was refusing to talk to me. I asked to talk to a manager and she told me no you cannot. Hung up called back. Asked for the manager. The person who answered passed me to the manager. Manager helped with the issue.
