I got a loan from Bellwether credit union a few years ago and they are the absolute best! I have had really good and friendly people and service. They don't rip you off like some that I know! I have called them with questions and or concerns and they always had the answers. If I ever need a loan again I'll be going back to them!

    Response from the owner

Thank you for the kind words Ann. It always brings a smile to our faces to read the satisfied feedback from our members and we will work hard to ensure that you continue receiving the level of service you have come to expect from us. Thank you again Ann!

Was a victim of identity theft, and of all the banks this one sends a denial letter to me with all my personal info yeah that’s right my entire SSN#, my full address my drivers license number and my birthday. I will Be calling the bank very soon about proper mailing procedure at the minimum. If any one intercepted your personal mail with all that info on it you would be a victim of identity theft.

Very VERY low budget organization. Poor geographic locations. Outdated ATMs and cheap debit cards. Chips are faulty when brand-new and don't work well at retails stores. Preditory fees that when I asked to explain them branch manager Erika Sullivan stated it's my responsibility to understand them and not her responsibility to explain them. Every check I deposited doesn't clear until days later, zero dollars released. This happens and Lou Longo states that's impossible... Phone system is outdated and rarely answered. Mobile app is low budget "beta" at best. I have five accounts at bank two savings one checking one auto loan and one loan. I recently was late on truck payment and to harrass me bank turned off checking access. When I spoke with Erika Sullivan she tried to use her size and tower over me to intimidate me. She was treating me as if my business means nothing to her. When asked for the policy that says they can mess with my checking because I didn't pay truck on time she told me I can look it up in my policy. I'm sure I never signed anything that agrees to this practice. In addition to all of this complaints about bellwether employees are met with roundabout answers and the blame game. Honestly this bank isn't a good bank. No locations poor technology and poor staff

I had a problem with my check account having a double payment for a purchase I made, I contacted Bellwether about my problem, they were very helpful in explaining how some business take out a security withdrawal as well with the purchase amount and than remove the security withdrawal once they receive the original payment, my experience with Bellwether community Credit Union has always been a good one, I find them to be very friendly, helpful and very professional. I highly recommend them for your banking..I would like to personally say thank you to each and every one of them.

Update: The Bank manager Erica reached out to me and asked me to elaborate on what happened. Unlike the individuals who were working the floor that day, she exemplified the professionalism bank employees USED to embody. I had changed banks for my credit card services and direct deposit but I think I’m going to give this bank one more shot. I changed the rating from 1 star to 4 stars. My feelings about the staff hasn’t changed. Maybe Erica needs to clean house and start from scratch. It’s clear by past reviews an overhaul of the staff would be a welcomed change! Original review: They smile and have conversations among each other like the best of friends but get monotone and cold when it’s a customer that doesn’t look like them… Then again the banking industry has NEVER been a beacon of diversity or inclusion. 👍🏿

I’ve had a account with them for a while. It is a ok credit union. They charge a lot of unnecessary fees and barely pay interest. (the funniest part is they now charge members a fee to use a coin counter... seriously??) As a younger customer they don’t seem to be innovative at all, the app is awfully laggy and every other time asks me for a code to register my phone for the 50th time. A nice feature to add would be early direct deposit pay. I have opened another credit union account because of a car loan. I applied with BCCU and they offered me 5% vs the 2.14% I got from my new credit union (not the end of the world). I am now slowly allocating a larger percent of my paycheck to go into my other account instead of BCCU. I will probably keep this account open, i’m not sure why because there’s no benefits but i’ve had it for a while.

ZERO STARS! My Dad recently passed away. He had a small savings account and auto loan with Bellwether. Bellwether withdraws an amount each month from the other bank account my dad and mom (89) have at another institution. This amount covers the loan and then there is a little extra that went into Bellwether savings. Firstly, working with Bellwether to get my dad's car sold, the loan paid off, etc. was painful. They insisted on having an original death certificate and basically made this process as hard as possible. Regardless, the dealer purchasing the car was great (also agreeing that Bellwether was over the top on this) and was able to work to get that completed. Now all we need to do is stop the automatic withdrawal Bellwether is making from the other bank account (now in my and my mom's names), get a check for amount in savings and close the account. My sister is documented executor, my dad is no longer listed on the account they are withdrawing from, I have POA for my mom and they won't make any changes to this account. We were even able to get my mom on the phone to talk to them. No dice. I even have login from my dad to bellwether account which they have since disabled. They said to BRING MY NEARLY BEDRIDDEN mom to their office to discuss. My sister and I have worked hard to make sure my mom is taken care of and have gotten almost everything in order for her. If you have ever been involved in organizing someone estate, you can understand how difficult it can be even when very well organized, as is the case here. Every single company, from social security admin, to AAA have been great, helpful and thoughtful of my dad's passing. Not bellwether. We now have a lawyer involved to help us take care of what should have been a 5 minute phone call. DO NOT USE BELLWETHER. They are unethical and basically stealing from my mom's bank account at this point. This would be a zero star rating if that was possible. Update - still a horrible company.

Pauline at Bellwether Community Credit Union did a thorough and excellent job of researching the problem with a transfer payment that was not processed and returned. She put excellent notes in the system to document the failure and gave me her direct line for follow-up on the reprocessing of this transfer payment which is in the works. Bellwether Customer Service has been excellent not only in handling this current problem but in handling and resolving fraudulent charges to my account in past situations. They have always been top notch in correcting issues and getting everything resolved quickly. My complements to a well run and friendly customer service organization!!

    Response from the owner

Let me apologize in advance for the lengthy review I’m going to write, not expecting pity from Bellwether, but in hopes of helping another person avoid the horrible experience I have had with this credit union since Day 1 of purchasing my vehicle. First, when I tell you the customer service here is awful..I can’t stress enough how terrible I believe almost every single memeber service representative I have spoken with is lacking tremendously when it comes to having basic people skills. This does not include the reps who work at the branch because I have never been inside the physical branch because I was in the US Navy and traveled so I can’t speak on them. This review is for all of the women I have interacted with in the corporate office. These call center reps are very rude, aggressive, and don’t care about you at all. They literally have no respect for anyone. I’ve not had a single nice person since I opened a loan in 2017. Don’t you dare go through any obstacles in life either because the term “life happens” does not exist here. I finally got a GAP claim finalized today after 4 months from my insurance settlement was paid. The women at Bellwether insisted they were filing the claim on my behalf and that it took weeks to finalize but according to my GAP claim provider not only didn’t they file my claim until February (2 months post insurance settlement check) but it never takes weeks for the claims to be finalized. It’s crazy to me that they were filing the claim on my behalf yet I did a majority of the actual work to get this resolved.... in one day. Today. The biggest con of all is if you’re a person like me who likes communication and follow up from a financial institution or any where for that matter ..Do not expect that here. You will have to chase these people down with emails and call a million times even though you know it’s not going to be a pleasant experience but you have to do it to get things done. I’m so glad I have repaid the full balance on my loan because I have had not a single positive thing to say about this bank since I got this auto loan. If you need an auto loan and aren’t able to get a decent rate anywhere else..walk. Or go to a more well known bank like Chase, Wells Fargo, navy federal. It’s definitely not worth the disrespectful snobby customer service, lack of communication and follow up, and extremely slow processing. I would not ever recommend this bank to anyone.

I bought a car and set up a loan with Bellwether because it was the loan service the car dealer went with. Big mistake! I set up automatic payments with them and then they rolled over to a new system and couldn't roll over my automatic payments. Ever since then I've had to make extra arrangements with my own bank to pay them. I find it hilarious they think that skipping a payment during the holidays is worth a 35.00 "processing fee" --like it costs them anything for anyone to skip a payment...(I can just do that by myself and take the hit on interest, which is less than 35.00). This credit union should be avoided. Glad I've almost paid my car loan off. Last email I got? Subject line: "You're car car loan is almost paid off, way to go!" Me are car loan? Please get some employees who can write in basic English, if you insist on sending me spam.
