I have been a member of Austin Telco FCU for almost 30 years. It is the best credit union in Austin, Texas and possibly the entire State. I joined right before our current President, James Poplin, was hired. Poplin and his staff have taken Austin Telco from a small credit union for primarily telecommunications workers to the largest and most fiscally sound credit union in the City of Austin and surrounding areas. As a retired City of Austin employee and former AT&T employee I recommend Telco as we call it to anyone that values the safety of their money and excellent customer service.

I was charged with fees AFTER I closed my acct with a representative in person. I should have known they didn't close it when I never received paperwork from them. They will charge weird fees like Overdraft even though they DO NOT ACTUALLY OVERDRAFT the acct DO NOT BANK HERE.

I'm not sure why I bank here, they are not open for business outside of my work hours, I have gotten a loan at several banks but declined here, I've had to call 3 weeks in a row about an unresolved case of fraud on my account, and they close their telephone "switchboard" (which hasn't been a thing since Alexander Graham Bell died) before their posted phone hours are up. In the past the bank has been agreeable and pleasant to work with, and they do have an app that works well that integrates with Mint. They also print debit cards in house which is nice if you lose yours (or get frauded as in my case). These conveniences have been outweighed by other negative aspects for me however. I no longer trust this company to be able to manage my money, after having to hound them to credit me for a few fraudulent charges. Their story was that they already did the paperwork, and received the funds, but forgot to credit my account. They don't have any options or rates that draw me to them. At first I thought this company was a win, but over the years I've grown more and more disappointed. Now I'm looking into trying RBFCU and/or UFCU as they both are higher rated.

I drove clear across town, with bad Google map directions, to learn they won't cash a check, written on their bank, in the drive through. Unless you are a member! And the teller was pretty much a jerk!! I've never been told that by any bank I've gone to. Very disappointing!

Opened an account within days was faced with difficulty in accomplishing basic banking tasks. After numerous phone calls to various individuals within ATFCU, their customer service and accounting departments, I was continually confronted with poor customer service and an attitude of not caring. Avoid at all costs.

Dont use this bank...just dont, fees are ridiculous, cant get ahold of anyone unless the bank is open. You have a deposit over 1000 be ready to wait a week for it... oh your pay check also is held for a few days too. Just dont use this bank the are more worried about making money off your money then they are your customer service.

Debit card quit working and I had been moving due to work. They refused to help me in till I updated my address online. Then their card services department is only open during normal business hours so after hours you are screwed if have issues with your card.

Lots of drive thru lanes with the ATM located at the outer most lane.
