We stopped by the AZFCU branch last week to open new savings and IRA account but upon our arrival, the greeter asked if we had an appointment. We didn’t and asked how long before we could get an appointment to which we were told it would be a few days. Obviously this financial institution did not want our business. They apparently don’t understand the concept of customer service. We left and drove down the street to a small Desert Financial CU branch. We explained our interest in opening up a couple deposit accounts and an account rep came up and invited us to her office where she promptly took care of our needs, immediately. Now they have our money and our business by simply applying basic customer service skills.

    Response from the owner

Hi Brad – We're sorry to hear about your recent experience at our branch and would appreciate an opportunity to talk with you about it. Please email us at [email protected] with a good contact number, and a member of our team will reach out to you.

I have been a customer for over 25 years and I needed to cash a check, and the drive thru at the Surprise location was closed. How long has this been going on? I usually go to the branch at 55th Ave. and Glendale, but I stopped by this one because I was in Surprise running errands. I had no idea that the drive-thru was closed and it looked as if the branch was closed. Their drive thru’s are open at the Glendale branch, so why are they not here? It’s the same credit union run by the same people but you have different rules for each branch? I’m sure that most of the branch workers have been vaccinated and wear masks, so why are they so afraid to open up the drive-thru? I think it’s a little ridiculous and you’re doing a disservice to your customers.

    Response from the owner

Hi Dina – Thank you for being a loyal member. We’re sorry for the inconvenience when you visited the Surprise branch. The branch is open M-Thurs. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. & Fri. 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and it does not offer drive-thru service based on member activity and other factors. For a list of our locations that offer drive-thru service, please visit ArizonaFederal.org/Locations

The drive thru atm machine must be defective because 3 times already I have made withdrawals and it fails to dispense my money but it does get taken out of my account. This has happened 3 times within the last year, including twice this week alone. Unacceptable.

    Response from the owner

Hi Ramon – Thank you for your feedback. We’ll have a team member reach out to you so we can learn more about your service experience.

Sold my car third party and the loan was through AZ Federal. They helped do all the lien paperwork and gave the new buyer and I all the paperwork needed to have them register the car and have it out of my name. Only took 15 minutes and everyone was Uber helpful and friendly!

    Response from the owner

    Thank you Martin!

This is the WORST financial institution location I've EVER encountered! They have horrific customer service. They are rude. And they are very stupid in that they don't know how to apply common sense and logic to a situation. They don't appreciate their customers at all. They are always "misquoting" fees, misrepresenting their products and services, lying to their customers and members, refusing to help or assist, and find ways to wiggle out of doing the very services they claim to offer. Often, the employees are busy stroking their ego instead of being kind to their customers. They will make you wait, even when there is NO ONE else there or in the drive through! They belittle and berate the customer all in the name of showing that they have power over you and your money. Many times I’ve been inside the lobby and found their behavior mean, hurtful, and extremely resentful. They are constantly hitting you with fees that most other institutions do not. They think nothing about inconveniencing you by causing delays that last for days and/or sending you 30 miles out of your way to another branch because they're too lazy to provide the services offered. You are MUCH better off conducting ALL your financial business with ANYONE else. I also find it interesting that when I went to other financial institutions in the area, I was told that they have heard of these same complaints by many others. I'd stay away from this place! Oh and “AFCU Owner” who always replies to these negative reviews and says “oh, we’ll be in touch to get more information” to act and seem as if you would do anything to correct the issues. You’re full of BS. And frankly, the behavior and actions of your employees at that branch was SO TERRIBLE, RACISTS, and completely INEXCUSABLE the last time I was there, NO amount of apologies or discussion would EVER make up for that experience!!! That’s why I closed all of my accounts and took my business elsewhere! I will continue to tell people at EVERY opportunity of the disgrace to banking you are and how awful and completely disrespectful you treat people for as long as I live within the reach of your awful institution’s access to the public!

    Response from the owner

Thanks to this Branch and Arizona Federal Credit Union in general, I will be trying everything I can to remove my loan from them and go elsewhere. Their customer service on the weekend sucks. I called to ask if this branch was open on Saturday, and was told yes. Well guess what, hard no. They say well use the Co-op to pay online. My CUwest has been trying for a month to get my accounts linked, not working. Now my truck loan will be late. Cut rate credit union, and it was not worth saving .05% interest using them. Hopefully Credit Union West takes the loan for me, and I can stay at my home Credit Union. Do yourself a favor and avoid Arizona Federal.

    Response from the owner

Hi Chris - Thank you for your feedback. We'd like to speak with you regarding your recent experience with us. A senior team member will be giving you a call later today. Thank you.

They are listed as a no fee ATM for credit union to credit to credit union online. This is NOT TRUE, they have a $3.00 fee, I had to pay them $3.00 to get my stimulus package money!

    Response from the owner

Hi Markus – Arizona Federal is part of the CO-OP shared ATM network – however not all credit unions are in the network. Generally there isn’t a fee for withdrawals and deposits if your credit union is part of the CO-OP network. Please contact your financial institution for information on which ATMs are part of their network.

Service is usually good, but what's with not being open on Saturdays?

    Response from the owner

Hi Antonio – We’re glad you’re happy with the service you receive from our team. Also, our branch hours are based on member activity and other factors. As a benefit of being a member, you’re also able to access your account at other nearby credit unions as part of the CO-OP network.
