Absolutely the most horrible mortgage experience I've ever been through. I have worked in Real Estate and the mortgage industry, and never in my career have I seen anything so botched, mishandled, and unethical. The loan officer ended up costing us thousands of dollars, because she submitted the wrong type of loan, and had to change it a couple of weeks before closing (due to her own errors - which she openly admitted to). There was complete miscommunication due to an excessive number of people working on this loan - contacting me to gather information (that I had already provided to other people, multiple times). One of the biggest communication breakdowns was the actual purchase price of my house - the lender kept writing up loan documents with a purchase price $6,000 higher than what my accepted offer was - and the loan officer kept arguing that her numbers "looked right." Our closing date had to get pushed back (with no notice - we actually found out on the way to our closing - on closing day - that the underwriters had more conditions that were never expressed to us, which cost us more money in lost wages, POA fees, and having to reschedule contractors that were supposed to start work after our original closing date). Rescheduled closing to 2 days after we were clear to close, and the lender still never sent the closing packet to our attorney. We are supposed to close tomorrow morning - and I have no idea if that will actually happen or not, because Amerifirst can not communicate or do their jobs. We are paying them and they are profiting off of us - for something that has caused us so much stress that we almost walked away and risked losing more money, simply because they did a horrible job. There are people at this company that should lose their jobs and their licenses. I ended up having to call the loan officer's supervisor to complain; and I fully intend to file a formal complaint with their corporate office, as well as the NC banking authorities that oversee this type of incompetent lender.

Words can not describe how wonderful the team working on my mortgage were. Steven and Michael are an awesome team. We hit quite a few speed bumps along the way and they never gave up on us. They are kind, professional and extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend Amerifirst 100%

At first I was very confident in Michele’s ability to get my loan done quickly. She assured me that she was not very busy because she was only taking purchases and not any refinances. I liked the online portal that told me what documents to upload. I uploaded all documents within 2 days of my application. Almost 3 weeks went by before I got a notification that my loan package was going to underwriting and I was confused because I hadn’t heard much from Michele or her team. My closing date came and no one reached out to let me know my file was not ready. A week after my original closing date, Michele and her team starting asking for basic income documentation that they should have collected with my application. I finally received my clear to close and Michele reached out to let me know if I didn’t provide a new invoice from a contractor with her exact wording on it, that she would not close my loan on time. This was less than 18 hours before closing! I was able to scramble and get the invoice updated. Then I did not get the amount to wire to the closing attorney until 4:41 pm the day before closing. I could go on and on about how horrible of an experience this was. Never using this firm again!!

An absolute joke of a company. I have had a mortgage with them since 2019 so when I wanted to refinance it seemed like a good choice. THEY HAD ME SIGN DOCUMENTS WITH MY NAME ON THEM THAT HAD NUMBERS FOR ANOTHER PROPERTY ENTIRELY. We ended up having to wire back thousands of dollars A FULL WEEK after we were confirmed to be closed and after double checking with our loan team. Do not waste your time, energy, or money with these people. They are a national company that is too big for itself and cant even get the details right. If I could leave negative stars I absolutely would. Disgrace of a company.

A nightmare! I was not pleased with the services from AmeriFirst. I will never use them again, nor will I recommend using this company. Poor planning on their part cost me an additional expense of $3,078.52. I was assured by the manager, Michael Lassiter, in October 2020, that my file would be ready and completed by my scheduled closing date in late January 2021. That did not happened. I missed my closing date by 19 days, which caused me to pay the builders, $150 for each day missed. In addition, I incurred hotel expenses for 19 days. The manager, told me (each time I reminded him about the “delays”), not to worry about the cost because he was working with the builders, and for my hotel expenses, he would assist me with that cost. The final hour (1 day before closing), he “back paddled”. He refused to assist me and stated “he was not responsible for my living situation” and as far as the cost for the delayed closing, for me to talk to the builder because it wasn’t “his charge”. He is untrustworthy and showed no empathy, other than offering several gift cards. I am stuck with an unexpected credit charge of over $3,000 (which cannot be paid with gift cards) - all because this company was not cable of having my file “complete” and ready for closing on the specified date, which the entire team was aware 4 months prior. I had 3 other loan approvals, and I wish I had gone with any of them. I’m sure I would have closed on my house on time and would not be in debt for $3000. What should have been a “happy day” for me, was just another day. Never again!

We have worked with Joey Mitchell at Amerifirst Home Mortgage for 13 months. There is not a bad thing I can say about him or Amerifirst. Everyone is efficient, knowledgeable, and patient. Questions are answered immediately and completely. I have no hesitation recommending Amerifirst Home Mortgage or Joey Mitchell at the Brier Creek, Raleigh office.

Steven was great. He work on getting us the right loan once we found the right house. He spent 18 months working with us as we search for the perfect home. The process was easy once we founnd our dream home. Thank you Steven...
