Alaska USA Federal Credit Union W Peoria Ave, Phoenix

I went yesterday after work and had the worst experience, the teller tried to open my account without the banker in the back. She entered my credentials (not very polite) and said I was not eligible to open an account with Alaska USA Federal Credit Union due to me not passing the Echex background. The Exchex document she provided had a score of 0000 on it which doesn't make any sense (I don't have anything negative on my background). I went to Arizona Federal Credit Union next and they had no problem opening a checking/savings account for me. They utilized the same Echex systems as per teller advised all banks utilize same system. I don't understand why I was denied an account and really hope it wasn't racially motivated and she just preferred to deny me an account.

I have read some bad reviews and some great one... In my own opinion, I did not ask for Alaska USA Federal Credit Union. They purchased my banking institution and all accounts were consumed. That being said, from the moment I heard that but of information, Alaska USA has been there every step of the way to help me complete this transition smoothly, and well after, to make sure that I am happy and continue to be happy with the services they provide. I have had a few banks, and accounts. Navy Federal is one I hold true and dear to my heart. But I have to say, Alaska USA is number one in my book. They are truly amazing, down to EVERY SINGLE CSR that I have spoken with and seen over the counter. Even though this was all happening Durning Covid-19, they didn't miss a beat. Still helping, still doing what I've come to expect from a bank of my choosing and honestly way more then I anticipated. 5 stars hands down Alaska USA! Keep up the amazing job

Overall a good credit union. Phone customer service, which is 24/7, answers promptly; lines are never (at least the times I have been to this branch) long; the mobile app is solid; the only reason for a 4, instead of 5-star review, is that if you lose a debit card, the temp card they issue you is only for cash withdrawals at ATMs - this is behind the times. Arizona Federal can print new cards on the spot, for example; at the very least, most financial institutions can issue a temp card that can make debit purchases. Otherwise, though, this credit union ain't too shabby. UPDATE: AlaskaUSA now offers on-demand print debit cards at their branches! So, I've upped my rating to five stars.
