*** DO NOT GET LOANS HERE If any issues with insurance on vehicle loans they double your payments! AND require you to not only pay that double payment but also have to pay for your insurance on top of that im paying almost $1300/month when my truck loan payment was only $459.
Hello Jennifer, for the sake of protecting your privacy, responding with actual details of the situation is outside of our best practices. What we can say is that we’re glad that after writing this review we were able to speak with you and come up with an arrangement. We always try to work with our members to make repayment plans manageable. It is required that you have auto insurance if you have a loan through WECU. In the event that you’re in an accident, this will protect the Credit Union from loss. If you total the car and you don’t have the means to pay WECU back, we are out the money we loaned you. Insurance protects us from that. When you do not have insurance, WECU is required to purchase Collateral Protection Insurance. This insurance is much more expensive than normal auto insurance because it’s a different type of coverage. We then pass this cost along to you in the form of higher monthly payments. When you’re signing the paperwork for the loan, you agree to these terms.

WECU is great! Really disagree with some of the other comments -- especially about WECU's online banking system being "antiquated". Being a dual U.S./Canada citizen, I also do online with the Royal Bank which I believe is Canada's largest bank. WECU is just as good! I also believe that a large segment of WECU's members are seniors, many of whom remain reluctant to adapt to doing their banking online. They continue to expect WECU to maintain the same level of personal, face to face service all financial institutions offered "back in the good old days." WECU, in my opinion, is doing its best to accommodate their needs but still has to adapt to changing times to remain viable.

I joined WECU in the early 1990's. Since then the customer service has drastically declined. Their online banking system is rather antiquated as well. On a positive note, there are lots of locations to choose from.

OMG.. what is happening over there??? This place has gone to hell over the past month. No one answers the phones at customer service which is pretty pathetic. The web page and app won't let me transfer funds between credit cards and bank accounts. I took a survey a year ago encourage these guys not to rebrand themselves. Nothing is work now and they've caused nothing but a mess. At least get some people to answer the phones at customer service. All I can say is BOOOOO.. the CEO over there should be fired over this.
Hello Jhanson, immediately following the upgrade we did have longer than ideal wait times at our Contact Center but since then times have returned to normal. We understand that there will be an adjustment period for our members with the new online banking platform. Horrible customer service. I’ll be refinancing my vehicle through Navy Federal soon. If these people are what stands before you getting your car loan, I’d just retract the loan application. Fair warning

Ever since WECU updated their system this fall, they have denied access to account holders and caused an unnecessary delay and further issues with gaining access to funds. I would suggest switching to another bank ASAP.

Absolutely terrible customer service, this company's ability to answer a phone is downright pathetic. Transferring away from them is nearly impossible due to this lack of ability. I would not reccomend them to anyone, its simply nessecary to be able to answer the phone for odd situations and occurrences so they can be resolved and I have had the hardest time with WECU with instances like that.

If so are you saying we didn't pick up the phone at all or that hold times were longer than ideal? Due to the bill pay upgrade last week, my electronic transfer changed to a paper check that took a week to arrive and still hasn't cleared my account. Definitely a step backwards WECU.

I couldn't be happier with WECU. Best institution I've ever used, best customer service as well, and unlike a bank they aren't on wall street investing your money in toxic assets, derivatives, etc.
