This branch really offers a unique experience compared to other places. Their downtown location allows the perfect opportunity to put their large courtyard area to use with fantastic concerts, community rallies, and other local gatherings. The manager and staff are very friendly and know how to welcome you. Great place to take care of banking!

    Response from the owner

Hi Brandon! Thanks for the great review and rating, I'm glad we're taking care of you. Our Unitus Plaza branch is a great spot, especially when the weather behaves and we can hold such events as concerts and Human Foosball. Hope to see you around! Have a great day. - Ryan J.

Worst bank ever! I cannot pay online because their online payments NEVER work. The teller laughed said "yeah it never works" like it's a joke. I have to take time off of work every single month to go to downtown Portland to make the payment in person. I have to pay in cash because they cannot take a debit card from another bank. Super inconvenient. Car payment costs the payment PLUS 2-3 hours off of work once a month to physically go to their location to make a payment. No Saturday hours. No other options. Bank it is living in 1950's. I'm looking to refinance just so I do not have to deal with this bank.

    Response from the owner

Hi valued member - we're so sorry to hear you've experienced difficulty making online payments for your loan. We absolutely strive to provide you with 5-STAR service and would love to work with you to troubleshoot any issues you're encountering. There's definitely no reason you should need to physically come into the branch simply to make a payment so let's figure out what's happening online. It would be helpful for us to know more details - for example, when you have made payments online in the past, have you gone directly through uOnline or have you paid through the Online Loan Payments page? (there are multiple ways you can pay online) Please send us a direct message when you have a moment and we'd like to walk you through this and help you every step of the way. This year we've made a major upgrade to our uOnline platform - that might be your solution, we just need a little more info. Thank you for your membership! We look forward to connecting soon. - Marissa F.

I deal with the 6th Street branch Downtown. Everyone is super nice and helpful. I know everyone by name and they in turn know me. I cannot tell you how much they have helped me. From credit counseling to real CUSTOMER SERVICE!! BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. Very Kind and will go the extra mile. I am confident that UNITUS is my No #1 bank. They offer coffee and treats. When we 1st opened our accounts, they were great. Very small bank feel. Now, it's just like any other corporate bank. Cold, rude & heartless 👺So glad we moved our accounts to Oregonians credit union! They are wonderful!

I bought a car from a dealer in Oregon City on a Sunday, so the finance guy didn't know who the lender was that he was going to use. He sent the deal out to several CC's and then filled in Unitus on the paperwork when it was approved. I did not know this until a while later, and Unitus requires they be the lien holder on the insurance policy. I got a letter a month later notifying me that they had these certain requirements to meet for their insurance. My insurance didn't meet these requirements to a "t" so they assessed a $1,250 premium for insurance while they said I was not covered. 45 days coverage for $1,250.00, which is outrageous! I explained that I was unaware it didn't meet the requirements until a letter a month later. There was no claim on the car during this period. I wrote a letter to the Leadership, they came back with sorry can't help you. Accused me of knowing because I signed a generic Membership Form (I signed multiple as the dealer sent out to find the best rate) so I didn't know it was Unitus. Basically, unwilling to work with anyone on fees, and even the dealer finance person said they hear this ALL the time. Their modo of helping their members progress financially is CRAP!! I am transferring my loan and never recommending them or doing business again.

This is not about this location in general, but Unitus as a whole. What can I say. I thought BoA was supposed to be "the devil" but I think sometimes you have to side with them in order to get yourself taken care of. My last Auto loan was through Well Fargo, then to BoA of course and it was unmentionable, which is the way it really should be. Everything was seamless, it worked the way you would think it should. My new Auto loan through Unitus has been the worst experience I have encountered yet and I have only been with them for 8 months now. Really, my trouble started with Nationwide which I will be writing a review on them after this. The gist of it is, I have been a member of Nationwide for 10+ years, never made a bad or late payment, continuously insured and so on. I had 1 late/missed payment and they dropped me without warning. I had signed up for email notifications and paperless billing etc. Signed up for Auto pay the month before my next bill and autopay did not pay the bill so it was missed. Instead of calling (even the Electric company or phone company gives you a call to collect payment) or emailing (I was signed up for email notifications!) they SAID they sent me a letter to collect payment. Well, they dropped me and I had no idea, thinking my payments were automatically coming out of my bank account this whole time. Well, it seems the only person Nationwide made sure they told was Unitus, and they were sure to sign me up for an alternative insurance. Unitus also did not try to call me until it was too late, which was the first I knew of Nationwide dropping me. I had called Nationwide to get my Insurance re-instated and they said they couldn't do that without 6 months of continuous insurance from someone else. Their offer was Victoria? (think that was it) Insurance, at something ridiculous $230-$250/month for auto insurance, I had been paying ~$65/month. I declined. I went about searching for insurance so I could give Unitus proof of insurance and when I found it (USAA through my spouse) I called Unitus to find I was billed $5,124 for auto insurance...BUT, since I have proof of insurance they dropped it to $2,818 for the 4 months I did not have it. That is $704.50/month auto insurance. The kicker is, that only covered the car! not myself, or anyone/thing in it. How is it reasonable for them to charge someone that? They wanted to more than double my car payment from $327/month to $665.43/month until the $2,818 was paid off. What did they do for me instead? They tacked the premium to the end of my loan so my car payments are more sustainable. How can you possibly charge someone $704.50 a month for insurance, insurance that covers the car only even!?!? I will be moving my loan to another company ASAP. Oh, and the fact you cannot make an auto loan payment directly from an outside account is ridiculous as well. Transfer money from an outside account to a Unitus account, then from that account to the auto loan.

Everything Unitus offers is unfortunately just a little bit worse than my old credit union back in upstate New York, which has been disappointing. But now I'm stuck in ANOTHER loop of trying to prove my address with them after a move and it's been an obnoxious week long exchange of emails and phone calls. Last time they declined my rental agreement which I took the the DMV, the DMV accepted it, gave me a state ID card, brought the card to Unitus and they FINALLY were satisfied. That was just to open an account. Relax, Unitus! If your red tape is more obnoxious than the DMV's, you have an internal issue. It's like you don't even want my business.

Been a member for over 25 years, since it was known as Oregon Telco Credit Union and I will NOT be changing! It's great to be treated like a welcomed friend instead of just another account number.

    Response from the owner

Thanks so much for sharing your member experience with us, Ian! You'll never be a number to us. #peoplehelpingpeople

Not good. Car loan from dealership. Misscommunicated insurance coverage. Doubled billed insurance at $1,100 for 10 days of coverage! Very impersonal policies. And unempowered staff to address reasonable concerns. Low end money lender hiding under 'community credit union' name. Paid off the loan and the automated loan fee of $1100 rather than deal with this mismanaged financial institution.

    Response from the owner

Hi Joe, so sorry to hear about your recent experience with auto insurance. We’d love the opportunity to discuss this further with you and gather more information to avoid these miscommunications from happening again. Please send us an email at [email protected] so that we can discuss further. Thank you for your time! Hope to hear from you soon. -Marissa F.

I have been banking with Unitus Community Credit Union for over 10+ years and I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. From the amazing employees to the flexibility they have been able to offer as a credit union while I traveled/lived around the USA. Unitus has educated and helped me build my credit by approving my first credit card, they helped me purchase a few cars over the years, and most recently I was able to use their help to purchase my first home. Todd Twardowski was so informative and helpful every single step of our buying process. He went above and beyond at every turn to help us win in this crazy Oregon real estate market, from updating offer letters to calling sellers agents he always had our best interest at heart! Thank you to Todd and the Unitus team, you have members for life!

    Response from the owner

Wow, Catt! We’re thrilled to get this kind of feedback. At Unitus, we strive to be your hometown CU no matter where your journey takes you! Thank you for taking the time to leave us this fantastic 5-STAR review of your Unitus member experience over the years. We SO appreciate your loyal membership and look forward to welcoming you back again and again. We'll be sure to send your praises along to Todd and the team. Congrats on your first home, Catt! Have a wonderful rest of your week. - Laine C.
