At least three times during the process I felt like they didn't know what they were doing, which is pretty terrifying while making such a large purchase. Their one saving grace was that it was pretty quick. However, now that the ink is dry, getting in touch with customer service has been impossible. I've sent multiple emails and called many times. As of right now there have been exactly zero responses from emails, and I have yet to reach an actual person on the 800 number. I strongly advise against doing business with this company.

We were referred to this organization by one of my husband's coworkers. We ended up briefly working with John Duke however, our communications with him were not good from the start. Apparently our emails were going in to his spam mail in the beginning so the communications were few. After that was resolved he still offered little guidance to us. We are first time homebuyers and have a lot of questions. We are younger and do not have a large budget amount. I don't know if these factors prevented him from wanting to work with us but we definitely did not mesh well. He kept talking about getting a "gifted" down payment and after telling him several times that this was not an option, he kept suggesting this for us. We also called him at one point to tell him we were thinking about making an offer on a home. He was out of town at this time but we have never heard back from him since. I would think that if my loan officer knew we were thinking about making an offer, he/she would follow up. I want to be clear that this does not mean every officer at this group is this way but we did not have a good experience and we have since decided to go through a different lender. Unfortunately, we will not be recommending this group.

I just read the reviews on here and all the bad ones are in line with what happened with us. My wife was referred to UHM for us to start looking for a home. I received a message from my wife that Robyn Berg, who she was talking with, wanted documents. I wasnt really informed on what was happening. she had spoken to her months ago when we were toying with buying a house. I have owned 2 previous houses and dealt with the loan officers before and all the questions that come along with the mortgage paperwork. My wife on the other hand is new to all this and was answering the questions the best she could. Now I am out of the country at this point and not once did Robyn reach out to me to ask any questions that she had. the first mortgage I had, the loan officer and I spent days going over all my documents and he asked me questions the entire time I was in there getting everything down. the second time and most recently I went with Wells Fargo, even after their major issue, the lady took her time and we met with her several times, and then ended up moving to a credit union, who I also went with a refinance with, it took them 2 weeks to get everything together before they even approached us about proceeding. I then get a notice in my email from one of my credit cards that offer credit protection, not the greatest, but something, that there had been a change in my credit, as my credit report was ran. I was never informed it was taking place nor did I give my permission for it to be run. I have contacted the corporate office and they havent gotten back to me at all. I guess it is standard operating procedure for them to take all your documents and then run your credit and steal your identity! The loan officer wont even respond to me. She was all about the commission and making her numbers. It was weeks for my last two mortgages were happening before they ran my credit report, and I was either signing a piece of paper allowing them to do so, or a secure email was sent and encrypted documents were sent over the internet, or even with my refinance, I was informed that the call was being recorded and I needed to state my name and then saw I approve them to run my report. NONE of this happened. After I was informed all this took place I asked my wife about 100 questions that were not asked from the loan officer that I had been asked before. Not once was I emailed about any questions my wife couldnt answer, and yet I still have the internet to email them about that happened. But I was told and saw an email that Robyn has been doing this for 17 years. 17 years of stealing identities and running reports without anyone's knowledge or permission, and of course using someone that has never done any of this before, and yet never once asking her to come to the office and have a real conversation. This is a second rate whack job operation and I highly recommend staying far away and go to a real loan officer at a real financial institution. I will not be going back and have even thought about calling the police on the identity theft and fraud from this office. do not take or give them any of your information.

We were approved for a loan, had the pre approval letter and everything. We found the house and our offer was accepted and then they denied our loan out of nowhere. He went back and said he never approved us for the amount and he never gave us a pre approval letter even though we have a copy in hand.

As first time home buyers we were referred by our realtor. We had no idea how to even start the process, and had a lot of questions. Right from the beginning Jan was there for us and able to answer all of our questions, and her responses were always prompt. Between Jan and Jonica we always knew what was needed and what to expect, very organized. Nights, Weekends, and even Holidays. Jan’s constant communication was so very appreciated! Even down to the videos sent out at every step to help us understand what to expect next. UHM is highly recommended by us! The communication is even great after closing. We continue to keep in touch with Jan with post mortgage questions. Again, highly recommended!

Jan Szur with Union Home Mortgage came highly recommended to us and we now know why. She did a fantastic job in helping us secure a loan for our new home and responded to all of our communications almost instantly. If you're shopping for a mortgage, I couldn't recommend Jan enough.

I was referred to Ramona Hall by a realtor, I was pre approved with a pre approval letter to my realtor, made an offer on a home. The offer was accepted, scheduled an inspection which was done, all seemed great. It was approximately a week of work and inspection cost, I called Ramona on another subject during the conversation she was looking at my bank statements and found a problem, this was something that I thought was already looked at prior to an approval letter??? Ramona knew how far we were into the process, this being said she informed me that it wouldn't go through underwriting, we would now have to wait till statements were cleared up, long story short we lost home, lost $400 inspection fee, she admitted this was an oversite on her part but refused to pay for any of the inspection fee, I received a mortgage immediately with dart bank, witch I highly recommend, be very cautious using Ramona Hall with union home mortgage.

Amateur hour at EVERY step. Completely disorganized and haphazard during the documentation phase. We provided everything asked for, yet still got almost daily emails asking for more/different documentation (or to resubmit documentation we had already submitted. Despite the general disorganization, there are two instances that really stand out. The first experience came the day before our second scheduled closing date (it took 5 before we could actually close), when I received a message from the loan officer asking if we owned a home or trailer. I reminded her that we were on a land contract that expired in a few months, at that the land contract holder would then re-take possession. We had told UHM this when we first discussed seeking a mortgage, and on all of our paperwork had indicated this. It wasn't until the day before we were scheduled to close that our UHM loan officer informed us that we would not be eligible for the RD until the land contract was over/officially terminated and we had it in writing that the contract holder was willing to accept return of the property in lieu of full payment. Not that those are outrageous requirements, but UHM knew about our current living situation the entire time, and didn't think to bring this up until THE DAY BEFORE CLOSING?!?!?!?!?!? Anyway, fortunately, we were able to get the required documentation from the land contract holder who was also nice enough to allow us to stay in our current home even though we had no legal right to it until our new mortgage come through. The second incident was when we were scheduled for our fourth closing date. UHM had all the documentation they needed, submitted our application for review to the federal agency, and then let us know that our application was denied. Why? Because according to UHM, the federal policy had changed unbeknownst to them and the feds were now requiring that applicants for RD loans be non home-owners not only at time of closing, but at time of application. Now, I understand that the feds make RD policy, but UHM knew OUR SHOULD HAVE known about the policy change. That's what they get paid for, to be experts in these programs. So we literally had to start over. From scratch. We can't switch to another mortgager because it would take longer than starting over with UHM and we'd literally be homeless by the end of the month. So, we bite the bullet and move forward with the UHM "Amateur Hour." There were so many, many more misfires during the whole process that I won't go into detail with, but believe me when I say, there was nothing pleasant or smooth about any part of this process. I understand getting a mortgage can be a stressful experience for anyone, but UHM took every opportunity to make it even worse. In the end, we did get our house. UHM did finance it. It took over 2 months and 5 closing dates, plus LOTS of completely unnecessary stress. Even then, after all that time and misfires, our loan agent was on the phone with our realtor the night before our fifth scheduled closing making additional demands How, after ALL the mistakes, delays, screw-ups and redos, was there ANYTHING still to be done the night before we were supposed to close? We were lucky that the sellers of our new house didn't have multiple offers, because we would have lost it for sure in the 2 months it took for UHM to get their act together. Now we're trying to access those escrow funds for the home repairs we agreed on, and UHM is giving us a hard time about that because the contractor was not able to complete the work within 30 days of sale. UHM is going to UHM, I guess. Bottom line, they might get you financed, eventually, after lots of hassle and run-around. If you're looking for a pleasant mortgage experience, or are in a time crunch or competitive market, go literally anywhere else. Vinny the loan shark is probably more organized and knowledgeable than UHM.
