TruWest Credit Union - McCormick N V, Scottsdale

Stay away from this CU - I have banked with TruWest for several years but am afraid I am going to be closing my account. I am currently traveling internationally and lost one of my credit cards so needed to use another card that I did not know was linked to one of my TruWest bank accounts. I though it was linked to another account I have that had plenty of funds.. Within a few weeks I received numerous overdraft charges from TruWest without any text or email notifications. When I called the customer service they did little to nothing to try and help me correct these charges. They told me I did not receive alerts because I did not have them set up. I said I don't understand who would not want to be alerted to over $700 of banking fees.. they told me I would be surprised that a lot of people don't want to be alerted.. To my knowledge I have never had an overdraft charge in the history of having my account with TruWest. I feel it's pretty extraordinary to have 21 overdraft charges and I was really hoping for extraordinary customer service to help me deal with this issue and perhaps the ability to make a one-time exception to their 3 max reversal policy. Instead I was greeted by very uncaring customer service where I was hung up on once and later was told I would be receiving a call from a manger to further discuss what they might be able to do to help me in this situation, however that call never came, which furthers my suspicion that TruWest TruLy does not care about their customers and truly enjoys collecting profits on these type of technical difficulties. Their website is antiquated and hard to use and if it wasn’t I would probably have set up such alerts. Very strange that in an era of covid and financial difficulties a lot of people are having they would just shun customers in this way. Very disappointed in TruWest.

I was already with another credit union but I just wanted another account. I have been really happy with TruWest. They reminded me what it feels like to be valued as a client. They are always friendly and easy to work with. Had an issue with fraud on one of the household accts. (yes now we have multiple accounts with them,) and they took care of it in a heartbeat! Love banking with TruWest.

TruWest was there for me in a personal pinch. The McCormick branch always has a professional, personable staff ready to assist you in what ever way needed. I ran into a banking situation, of my own cause, and they explained what I did incorrectly and just made it a learning lesson for me instead of fining me. I've also had problems with my TruWest cell app (due to upgrading my cell ph.) and twice they patiently corrected it through their Tech Dept. Not once have I felt devalued in my relationship with them. They also recently pointed out I am qualified for a higher account with them with a number of freebies attached. Loved that since I had been paying for my money orders. Though I have not had any errors happen on their part to me, errors happen due to human fault or tech fault. I would prefer to give the benefit of the doubt to them, at any time, due to their treatment of me. Thank you TruWest for YOUR kindness and understanding as individuals and as a Credit Union.

After previous great experiences with truwest, my husband decided to open a business account with this branch. Upon entering, to gather further information, before being greeted or acknowledged as a member, the teller he approached rudly stated you HAD to be a member to open an account. Granted he walked in with casual clothing (pants, polo tshirt, sneakers) we believe this was based off appearances alone. Really disappointed in the conduct of this branch after years of doing business. We quickly decided to proceed into a near by Wells Fargo which we were greeted entirely more professional & friendly.

I just bought a car with a loan through TruWest. I went to the website to set up my payments. The first time I set it up it disappeared completely so when my payment did not go through, I logged in and set up payment again. I called customer service to make sure it was set up correctly and they reassured me it was. The second time it failed to come out of my account my husband called and the person on the phone set up another payment to come out yesterday. When it did not come out again, I called and while on the phone discovered that my payment was set to come out in 2020! The customer service person I was speaking to was not helpful or apologetic at all. In fact, she basically blamed me and said that the website could be confusing and she offered to take payment over the phone....FOR $15 fee! It should not be this difficult to GIVE your company money. I will be looking to move my loan elsewhere due to the fact that I have attempted to pay you on several different occasions and refuse to pay a late fee for this, also because your customer service reps are terrible. Literally an, "I'm so sorry this happened." would have gone a long way. That's customer service 101, - apologize and offer to HELP.

Been a member for 10+ years and signed a grateful ex-BoA friend on. I do the majority of my banking at this branch, the clerks are always super helpful and nice. They also have free coffee/tea and couches!

They were nice when I visited, but good luck trying to call in or getting any help outside of that. Wire transfers also don't post same day even though they were made early morning.

I have been with TruWest Credit Unionfor some time and they are wonderful. Great branch customer service, helpful phone help and easy on line banking. I would highly recommend anyone to make them your "go to" bank !

The staff is friendly and knows there vast array of services. I'm able to conduct all of my business transactions quickly, and know that they will be handled by a great group professionally and accurately. It is always a pleasurable experience.
