I would give Steve silver ZERO stars if I could, because he steered me in the wrong direction on our company taxes. Intentionally. His “advice” to be an LP instead of a GP “for tax purposes only” so that I didn’t owe taxes was bogus. I wouldn’t have even have owed taxes ANYWAY if I had remained a GP because the losses we had that year would have offset the self employment tax I owed. He failed to mention that. He also failed to mention the pros of having losses and that losses can be carried forward (if not all used) to offset taxes due later when our biz became profitable. I’d say he’s either really bad at his job or he manipulated me to do what my brother wanted. Or both. Considering he made a “mistake” on my taxes, that I caught, and once corrected, I had a refund due, but then later lost that refund and ended up owing money when our K-1 was finally finished. The K-1 that made me an LP, once filed, resulted in me OWING taxes back. And I ONLY owed due to change of status from GP to LP. But I didn’t know that at the time. But I do now. Passive losses and all that. So, his “advice” cost me money and enabled my brother to lay a foundation of a decade of financial abuse & oppression and criminal activity that I am now also implicated in since I’m a partner of the biz in which tax evasion and fraud was occurring. Mr. Silver’s advice was to benefit my brother and to harm me financially. He was also aware of my brother’s misappropriation and conflicting information that my brother was feeding his firm- was it a dividend or a loan? Hmmm. Curiously, our taxes indicated we paid Mr. Silver $40,000 for 2015 tax prep, but the invoices for tax prep from 2011-2014 weren’t even close to totally $40k all together. So why was 2015 so much more? Was the reported $40k a bribe? Or was it my brother lying on our taxes again? Or both? Since Mr. Silver conveniently “changed his billing system” and no longer had access to the invoices for 2015, he claimed, and he would not confirm or deny that we paid him $40,000, and acted very dismissive (suspicious) when I inquired, I’m betting it was a bribe. When I called back a year later after learning the ramifications of “his advice” and uncovering a decade of tax fraud & embezzling & money laundering perpetrated by my brother and biz partner, one of Mr. Silver’s employees answered the call this time. I explained the situation to her, that I was a victim of fraud, she was very nice and seemed ethical and EAGER to help since she had a family member who was also the victim of fraud- and she assured me there was no way we were a $40,000 client of theirs, but she’d look into it. She was eager & willing to help me unravel what was going on. But, when I called back a week later to follow up on the help she offered, her whole demeanor changed and she said she could no longer help me. Hmmm. I wonder what Mr. silver told her as reason for shutting me down? Since there is evidence to suggest my brother has bribed other professionals- I think it would be a fair assumption that Mr. Silver was also probably bribed to “advise me” to become LP because “his advice” became the foundation of a decade of fraud on my brother’s part. I think there is a very good chance that Mr. Silver is an unethical guy. When my brother is indicted for racketeering, I’ll be sure to mention how Mr. Silver’s “advice” was given in bad faith and I doubt anyone would risk their CPA license without some benefit to themselves? Hmm? In addition to reporting my brother to the feds, I’ve also reported Mr. Silver’s curious behavior and bad “advice” to the IRS and NJ State Board of accountancy. I figure he failed his fiduciary obligations when it comes to his “integrity” and “code of conduct” when he was “advising me” aka manipulating me. Any and all who enabled my brother has been reported. I lost my husband to suicide due to financial oppression and my brother- and Mr. Silver- has his blood on their hands. It’s sad when an accountant will breach their fiduciary duty to a client. And sometimes it’s criminal.

Me Silver was retained by a company in which I was a partner. He was well aware of the operating agreement between partners. Upon request of documents to do my own audit, documents to which I was undisputedly entitled to have, mr. silver delayed, avoided, deflected and overtly lied before finally complying with turning them over more than a month after the request was made. While he tried to blame the complexity, I was asking for simple bank and credit card records that could be emailed in seconds.
