TCU is very good for banking although I wish they wouldn't dilly- dally with customers be pleasant and move on, especially in the drive through, if somebody just sits there when their done ask them to move foreward.

    Response from the owner

Hello, Michael. There was a glitch in the system that notifies us when reviews are left on our page, so our apologies for the delayed response. We definitely appreciate the feedback and are glad your overall experience with us has been a good one. But we will certainly take your comments to heart as we strive to create as great of a banking experience for everyone. All our best to you and thank you for being a member!

I love TCU as a whole but I’ve had a few negative experiences at this branch. Today my mother, boyfriend, and I went in to get him added to our account and then open up a separate savings account with just my mother and I on it. We got inside and waited for a teller so we could ask to sit down with a banker. When approaching the teller she wasn’t exactly the friendliest, she acted if we were interrupting her. Which I understand people can have bad days I’ve worked in customer service it just threw me off a bit. It Made me feel bad for being there. She put us in the system and said we could go sit down and wait for a banker. We waited and then someone came out and said “next customer please” which I thought was odd usually they’d say the name of the next person they were going to assist. So the other person who was waiting exchanged looks with us since we did not know who was supposed to go next. He says we could go so we got up and headed inside of the office. The banker did not introduce herself and overall had a very “I don’t want to be assisting you” vibe. She mad no attempt at small talk so it was a quiet and uncomfortable experience. Midway through getting my boyfriend added to the account she calls another customer and begins talking to him. She finishes the phone call with that customer and a few moments later she slams her mouse on the desk. It startled me and kinda scared me. I talked to my mom and said that we could just finish setting up the savings account tomorrow so we didn’t take up more of her time. I also just wanted to talk with someone about which account would be best for us and other banking related issues. I felt like she would not have given us the time or attention to do so. I felt like our needs were not important. My mom and I decided that we will just go to a different branch and hope for a better experience with someone who doesn’t take phone calls mid appointment and doesn’t dismiss our banking needs.

    Response from the owner

Hello, Merikh. We are extremely sorry about this experience, but we thank you for sharing it. No member should be left to feel their needs are not important or that they are being an inconvenience in ANY way. Please know that we have shared your comments with our Leadership Team to follow up at the branch, and that someone may be reaching out to you regarding your experience. Thank you.

TCU has some very sneaky practices. I had an auto loan and in order to get that you need a savings account started. Trying to shorten a long story :P The savings account is started by the dealer on the buyers behalf in order to get the loan. TCU sends out monthly statements but the $5 seemed more like a placeholder than money I put in because that was not part of my loan agreement. So the day I paid off my loan I asked them to close out my accounts so they would have seen EVERYTHING I had. Of course, I remember asking about the $5 and they said there was nothing in my account and it was closed. Going forward about a year and a half I receive a statement that deducts $5 from my account due to inactivity. Of course, I call to find out where the $5 came from and if I'm going to be charged again AND why the heck has it been sitting in that account - NOW unavailable to me. TCU explains to me that I should have been more aware and should have advised the teller to also close out that account. Then the rep tells me the money was put in there by the dealer - implying it wasn't even really mine. What a greedy statement - it was obviously put there on my behalf. The end result - - although a measly $5, TCU expressed there was nothing they could do and they would not be refunding me MY money. I'm glad I'm not a member and a word of advice for business practices, be more transparent and treat your members better. My vote - stay away from this poor establishment.

Do not get a loan from these people. They delight it making it difficult to make your payments. They'll give you a little booklet and suggest things like the drive thru for convenience, instead of allowing you to set up auto-pay online like we're actually living in the year 2020! We can't have flying cars, but is auto-pay really asking so much? You also can't set it up in a branch with your debit card! You need to have the check book (!) or know your account number off hand. Then there's the collections department. I pay late a lot, because I forget that I still have one bill I have to pay as if it were 1998. I got a call today from Amy in collections. She needed to talk to me urgently, but didn't call from the number I needed to call her back at and had a 4 digit extension I needed to jot down just to get back with her. But in the couple hours between the ONLY communication I'd had about my late payment and my going to the bank to pay it, she called MY MOTHER IN LAW. Who was then very concerned that we didn't have any money. Really TCU? You wanna go? Let's go. No amount of community event sponsorships can save your reputation if this is the haphazard way you're going to take payments and go about notifying people they're late. I HAVE the money. I want to GIVE you the money. ON TIME even. But you just can't let that happen! No other financial institution is this absurd. None. Not Mutual Bank, not AAA, I bet even Interra has online bill pay that you can set to auto pay online!

    Response from the owner

Good morning, Melody. My apologies for not responding sooner, but I wanted to do some research on your concerns before responding. First, on the matter of automatic loan payments. Typically, automatic payments are set up through the member's online banking portal. Automatic transfers from checking can be set up fairly easily. If the funds are coming from an outside account, there is the added step of contacting that institution and setting up a transfer to your TCU account, but the method for making the automatic payments is the same. I apologize if the method for setting up automatic payments was not communicated as well as it should have been. On the matter of contacting someone not on the loan (in this case, your mother-in-law), I was able to determine that the number called was from the contact information available in our system for the co-borrower, who apparently had used that contact number for a previously established account at TCU. I have been advised by the loan team that the contact information has been updated going forward. You have my deepest apologies for the inconvenience, frustration and the embarrassment this situation has caused. I have asked a member of our Leadership Team to reach out to you in the event you want to discuss your concerns further.

(Edit: changed review from 1 star to 3 stars. Bank manager is extremely nice, helpful, and friendly and i received a follow up call the very next day. Please still fix cement cylinder issue. I scratched my car because of their placement and no warnings.) I've been a member of TCU since i was a kid. I have two problems with this specific location: 1. I really, really don't appreciate being lied to. I went in to get a certified check today. When it was printed it only had my 2nd last name on it (I have two). When i asked, he told me my last name was "too long" and it must have cut it off. I work with computers and that is NOT how they work. It would not have cut off the FIRST part of the last name if it was too long. He simply should have apologized and fixed it. It was a minor mistake and there was NO reason to lie! 2. When the drive through line is too long and you go to back out, there are cement cylinders that have no warning flag on them and they are too low to show up in rearview mirror or backup sensors. Please make them taller or put flags on top of them. After you have been in line 20 mins you forget they are there and they are right where you back up.

    Response from the owner

(Added 10/2/19) Hello, Jeanne. I'm so glad you and Deric were able to connect. Thank you for taking the time to post your follow-up here. Also, I spoke with our District Manager who said she has contacted the Facilities team about the cement barriers. We're honored that you have been a life-long member of TCU and that you care enough to let us know how we're doing when serving our members. On behalf of everyone here, we wish you the best! (Original post) Good morning, Jeanne. I wanted to let you know that someone from our Leadership Team may be reaching out to you about your recent experience. I have also alerted our facilities director about the cement barriers to see if there's something that can be done. Thank you for alerting us to this situation. I hope you have a great day!

Overall I'm highly satisfied. The people are nice and there's nice automatic savings options. However the atm at this location isn't functioning properly. It has problems accepting cash deposits.
