    Why is it that every time I've inquired with Sun Realty about potential availability for a home rental, their customer service representatives treat me like I'm trash? Honestly, it's not worth it. Just trying to figure out where to stay for a week for my wedding, and the rude, short responses are just unnecessary. Thanks but no thanks, Sun Realty.

    The property I rented in Corolla, NC had a serious flaw that I can say I never want to have with a vacation home - one of the a/c units was not functioning upon arrival. It was hot and humid in late summer and opening the windows was not helpful. Sun Realty got someone out to fix it the next day, but the maintenance guy only caused the breaker to turn off both units - no a/c at all, it was awful! Sun Realty got us some window units in our room until the maintenance guys returned 4 days later to spend 4 hours replacing the bad a/c unit. I appreciate Sun Realty and their attempt at getting us functioning a/c.... but the problem here is that the unit was really, really old, and the maintenance guy said it should have been replaced years ago. The a/c should be a priority in a beach vacation home... there is no excuse for renting out a home with a defunct a/c unit (we were travelling with our 6 month old, and it wasn't even safe for her to even be in that house). It was a huge disappointment to our otherwise nice vacation.

    We have been staying at the Outer Banks for years. This year we stayed at the Sun Realty Property Wright on the Beach #212 in Kill Devil Hills. The house had a completely broken master bed....busted box spring and severely warped mattress. Notified Sun immediately, but had to sleep on the couch for first 4 nights before bed was replaced (it really was unsleepable). Was offered $75 as compensation, with the blame placed on the homeowner. If nothing else, a home should have a sleepable bed.....you pay enough to deserve that! Sun basically said that they couldn't do anything any it was on the homeowner. Would never use Sun again and will not recommend them to anyone.

    Been renting from Sun Realty for years, have to say the cleaning has been a disappointment to say the least. Worse and worse every year. Try to do better guys. Change the air filters in the rentals more than once a year.😷

    My family and I would be happy to just sleep in a hole in the ground as long as we're at the beach so I can't complain about this company. I do wish they had a better janitorial staff to clean the houses/cabins. I checked in a few minutes early so we were inevitably asked to wait for the house cleaning service to finish up and I'd recieve a text letting me know they were done. I took my time sight seeing with the kiddos and stopped at an icecream shop just down the street. When a few hours went by without a text I decided to locate the house we would be staying at and would continue my sight seeing until I got my text. I drove by twice in which the lady was just in the driveway on her phone. When we finally got in later that day, the floors were so dirty there were huge dust bunnies everywhere so I swept the place. There was nothing to mop with though. There was also a big yellow bag of dirty linen on the front porch that was supposed to have been taken with the cleaning lady. I drove all the way from Louisiana to meet my family there. I was really hoping that after two days of driving and hours of waiting that the place would have at least been clean. Owell. Won't go through them again.

    The house was still dirty even though we had delayed check in bc of COVID. The chairs were filthy, everything was sticky and the air vents and fans had about an inch of dust on them. I have been going to the obx for years and I have never had a more horrible experience.

    DO NOT RENT THE STORAGE UNITS. I rented one and paid for it last week. Loaded my work truck and came yesterday to drop a load off and there was a lock on it. I called and told the Long Term Rental manager that I needed to get in to it ASAP because my work truck was loaded and I had to work today at 730 am. She said there was nothing she could do yesterday but she would make sure she stopped first thing this morning to unlock it. 3 pm and still nothing, had to reschedule my work day because they will not let me use the unit that I already paid for. Smh

    The customer service is AWFUL. Was there this past week and will no longer be dealing with this realty, there are plenty of other respectable realtors on the outerbanks. For starters, arrived on the island in the AM and unfortunately wasn't able to get early check in because it was all booked, okay understandable. But then they gave us the keys at 1030AM and said they would try to expedite the cleaning services. At 1pm we called the office to ask about the status, the realtor said that it had already been cleaned and they were waiting on the inspector, Ok! Great!! Not great at all. Drove to the property, to get a call from them interrogating us about if we were on the property (mind you, we had just pulled up, we were not out of the car and had no intentions of entering the house until we were giving the official ok.) as soon as they called and said we couldn't be there we quickly left and went to the closest public beach parking area and waited, and waited, and waited... 3pm rolls around and called again to ask about the status. To be told , by the nastiest woman ever, that since we were on the property they werent going to service it. WHAT THE... Then she told us to go find something to do in nags head, we also explained we had a 12 year old dog in the car with us, her response was "well then go find a park" After going back and forth with this women who should not have a job in customer service, or dealing with humans at all.. We just hung around until 4 when the check in was supposed to be. 4 o'clock. Called the realty office again, and this time yes, we were nasty. Told them we were going to the house and since this was the check in time we were "checking in". Got to the house and the cleaners, if that's what you want to call them, were magically there... But wait, I thought they cleaned earlier but we're waiting on the inspection???? The cleaners must have been told to f&@$ this house and just leave. The kitchen was filthy, the fridge had hair and milk stains all over the shelves, the floor wasn't vaccumed, clumps of hair was scattered on the floor as if twenty dogs were ripping their hair out, it was atrocious. We spent the next hour and have cleaning, dusting and vacuuming the house... And washing all the comforters because they were thrown on these filthy floors. I have never been so disgusted. And to top it off, "condensation" was leaking from the AC vent in the ceiling. We were told we can't have the Windows or doors open. Good thing I got a beach house in the middle of August on nags head.. So I can't enjoy the natural air. When we called about this, we were hung up on, TWICE. They finally sent someone more than 24 hours later, who said the pipes needed to be drained?

While we were not able to offer you an earlier check-in time, we did try to attend to the proper cleaning and readying of this home for your vacation; however, this preparation time was cut short with your early arrival to the home. Our check-in period begins at 4pm and goes through 6pm. Homes are still being cleaned and prepared during this time so the time a home may be ready can go later into the afternoon sometimes. Please know that we are crediting you for your disappointment in the servicing of this home and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We expect that every home will be ready and presentable to start your vacation on a great note. We're sorry this was not the case here. When expectations such as this aren't met, we do our best to take care of the breakdown to improve our services moving forward. We regret the condensation drip from one of the ceiling vents was a nuisance. The homeowner was made aware of this promptly and indicated he would be addressing this further. We hope, despite the rocky start, you and your family enjoyed an otherwise great week at the beach.

    We are currently at what is called a little piece of heaven of which is actually a little piece of hell. Sun Realty management named Floyd was useless and not helpful in resolving anything yet. Upon our arrival on a Saturday afternoon we started off our stay finding the linens we ordered were not here. When we went to look for them we found mouse feces on top of the mattress covers. We did not think to take pictures of that as we cleaned them up ourselves. I called in an order for linens that I had to go back the next morning and pick up myself. My wife spent the first night washing all the bedding that was here before anyone could sleep. My wife and I, three girls 6 to 18, and our son 6 months. The place also has an overwhelming smell of urine so we started looking around. There were mouse bait traps in every room and under the sink. We found mouse feces on the box springs just under the mattresses, in the corners of the rooms by the bed, under the sink, in the kitchen cabinets, on the kitchen countertops, in the pantry on the pot and pan, etc.etc. we did take pictures of all of this. We then found the bed skirts in one of the rooms was stained with dog pee and this place is suppose to a no pets location. Then we noticed dryer sheets stuffed in all of the air vents in the ceilings. We are guessing that is someone's attempt to mask the smell. All th trash can had mouse feces in them as well. We also found that are birds living in the ceiling. At night you can hear them in the ceiling and the mice in the walls. Great vacation. We spent Sunday and Monday back in forth on the phone explaining to Floyd the assistant manager at sun realty what the situation was. In the mean time we had their pest control and their cleanup supervisor out to take a look at and clean up some of the stuff we didn't already clean. We also had to call out a plumber because one of the showers backed up on the first use and black stuff bubbled up out of the drains. The rest of Saturday night and most of Sunday into Monday we spent cleaning this place ourself. Monday we talked with Floyd the assistant manager at sun realty . We explained what was going on and demanded that we should not have to pay for these conditions and something needs done. After going back and forth a while Floyd told me and I quote, " he has not heard of anything like this from any other tenants and is not getting the same story from his pest control guy or his cleaning service supervisor". At his point I realized he was going to do nothing short of the bare minimum if that because he just does not believe us. I explained to him that we didn't walk these people through everything we already cleaned up , just what still needed done. I sent him the pictures of all this , as he requested 10 minutes after ending the call and he wrote me back in apology and called with a whole new tune and attitude because the pictures speak for themselves. At this point is is Monday night and all he had to offer was go home and get a full refund now or move to another house 6 miles down the beach five rows deep in the woods where you can not even see the beach. Floyd said he has nothing else to offer. This location at swb28 A Little Piece of Heaven is simply an awesome location and perfect to have my 6 month old in a pack n play on the deck and watch the kids in the water from the deck. He basically made me have to decide between beach vacation with my family or sanitation standards. He is doing nothing about it and is point . Today is Tuesday . He on behalf of sun realty has not offered anything either. All he said he might do is renegotiate with the owners which might not be but a couple hundred dollars. So we went out and bought Clorox wipes and spray to deep clean and the electronic rodent plug ins for the wall sockets in each room. Update is nothing was done by Sun Realty.
