Worthless. Was with them for over 10 years and the quality kept going down hill. I finally switched to a bank I'm much happier with and keeps the same employees. Don't ever do anything with them were you'll need important tax documents for filing your taxes. They don't send them to you until well after tax season when you need them, then you're lucky if they fill them out right. Maybe I should have reported them to the IRS for improper handling if tax documents. When there supposed to send a corrected form your lucky if they fix it or if you even get one. And they were starting to charge just as many or more fees than a non credit union. I'd give negative stars if I could. Horrible place.

Absolute terrible place to bank! They were awesome when they were SCTelco but now that Spero has taken over it is awful! I now have a charge off because some how they say I have a $40 balance on something! I did some research and it looks like they charge a $5 fee each month to have a checking account. I didn't know this and I had switched to my wife's bank account back when we got married 7 years ago. Well because of this fee the money I had in this account apparently ran out because of the fee and they charged off the $5 plus a fee of $35. Now this has caused my credit to go down 130+ points!! I'm in the process of buying a house and my current bank is considering not giving me a mortgage because of this! Everybody needs to stay away from this place and bank anywhere else!!

I’ve been banking with Spero for a while. Terry the branch manager is awesome so was Sharae. I lost my job due to catching Covid and had a major surgery. So i took money from taxes paid a lump some so I wouldn’t be behind on my payments Cherise applied it to principal. Destroying my credit, they also took my credit card because of this. Cherise also threatened to use my personal information out of their database to sue me for recording her without her permission! Which is against the law to use my personal information with my bank for your own purposes. I feel as though I’ve been highly violated. I’m so disappointed and I’m happy I do have all this on recording

When I first moved to Sc I started with SCTelco as my bank. Had credit cards and car loans all paid on time and without issue. Left and eventually came because of their good service. Went through a tuff time and trying to get back on track with the IRS and my credit. I have a new charge off on my credit that reduced my score from 643 to 543 from Spero for $76. This is on an account that I closed. So I called today to see what it is and how to fix. Keep in mind I didn't have over draft protection either. But apparently the account was closed as I thought and since the company had my ACH info their allowed to withdrawal from a account I thought was closed. Overdraft protection or not apparently. So I asked if I pay the $76 will they remove the derogatory event from my credit. First I was told once I pay, it will automatically fall off. Which is not true. Once I pointed this out the lady told me the will not remove anything from my credit over $25. Very unethical company at best. Just so happens that can't see past a certain date now the account has been charged off. The other interesting part is I never received any information to be able to handle the issue before it came to this. So $76 has put me deeper in a financial whole. Do yourself a favor and bank with someone who has better ethics.

All the people who work here just seem to ooze happy vibe! I love coming into this bank because they don’t treat me like some big corporate bank. They are kind and fulfill all my needs. And boy, they are fast! I appreciate all the times I’ve come in a bad mood and they gave me a smile despite my less than pleasant demeanor. Good job tellers! Keep it up!

Been a member for over 10 years. Loved it when it was SC Telco. Got tired of the banks charging for everything. Now, since the merger, fees for everything equal to what the banks charge. No personalized service, only marketing emails. I cannot recommend them, anymore. Awful. No regard for the average client, just a lust for profit/greed. They exemplify everything one finds disgusting when dealing with a bank. Would post no stars but it is not possible. Sure there will be a fee for this review.

I was with SC telco credit union for 20 years. These guys take over and now there’s a fee for every account I have/had. Once I realized I was being charged I got a cashiers check for all of my money and closed my account. This was in February. NOW, I get mail saying I’m in the negative 1.95 for a savings account. I call them, because I shouldn’t have an account at all and I’m told only my checking account was closed. I’m also told I have to come down there to close the savings account, which should have been closed when I was there and closed my checking account and removed my money. They get one star only because the man I spoke to was very nice.

Beware!! I used this bank for a car loan when it was SC Telco and they were great! That is where my 2 stars come in. I received a letter from Spero that said I owed them $6 and that the bank was bought out and it owe some sort of fee. If I didn’t pay it they would be taking it to collections. This was my first letter from them because I did not recognize the name and would have opened y envelopes that didn’t look familiar and looked like a bill. So I called the bank and pains it and had to send them a letter stating I wanted the account closed. Guess what? I went to get a mortgage at my bank and my credit score went from a 810 to a 716. They closed the account as delinquent. I called them and was on hold for 45 min to finally get someone who said she would “recode” it and that it would get fixed. Still waiting. That is ridiculous and warranty’s this bad review. Now my garage is on hold until my credit score is fixed. Not good business. This is coming from someone that owns 2. It is not ok to charge fees on an account and not give someone 30 days to pay it before you take it to collecting. Not good business at all. This will get fixed!

If I could rate NO stars I would. It's absolutely absurd that they make you wait in line because they refuse to open the inside. However, when you do get to the window after waiting so long to deposit ( because the ATM does NOT accept deposits and when you try to take advantage of their app and deposit checks through there it REJECTS it)....the numerous ladies at the window are NOT social distancing at all. I was so far from the window I don't recall if they had masks on. But it's the point. If you can stand on top of each other, then personally I think you can open the bank and practice social distancing. It's no different when they go to the grocery store. Stupid!!!!!!
