Contacted them b/c I couldn't withdraw from a partner ATM and they told me it was a problem with my chip, while I was literally using my chip to make a purchase at Vons. They sent me a replacement and said my card use wouldn't be interrupted, it was. Fast forward to today, when I went back to that ATM and again I could not withdraw. Called them and they tried to gaslight me once again by saying it was my card's chip. They then told me the terminal couldn't read my chip. I asked if they could reach out to the partner branch to address issue in chip communication and they said they don't do that. Seems weird that a bank that works with another bank can't actually talk to them. Too many issue for me.

It's a relief to know that I'm not the only one whose credit score was damaged due to their practices (because I don't feel so alone, but terrible to know that this is common). I had chosen this bank to stay loyal to local credit unions. In return, I got terrible communication: no communication of an issue going on with my account, and they ended up charging off my account on a $30 deficit with no notice (even though I could've easily paid this off). It has taken years for me to rebuild my credit score due to their practices. Also, I was never able to get a hold of a live person to resolve this issue. Unfortunately, when this happened, I had moved out of San Diego, and I couldn't get anyone over the phone to talk over this issue. Thanks SDCCU for your practices. Your lack of communication has affected my buying power over the past few years. Truly a bank NOT for the people.

THANKS SDCCU FOR THE DAMAGED CREDIT SCORE! My car dealership signed me up for an auto loan with SDCCU. I've held the loan for 3 years. I've held a dozen car loans over the years with different banks, and this is by far the worst banking experience ever. After three years, and hours of calls with customer support, I was never able to get set up with online banking. I set up automated payments over the phone with SDCCU representative. Turns out, the automated payments from by bank were blocked by SDCCU - After 3 months of not receiving payment, they were sending my bills to the wrong address, they reported late payment to the credit bureau (Damaging my credit), and they took no responsibility, or bothered to review their errors during original recorded calls during our setup to help me repair my credit. This happened twice before we figured out a work around by setting up a SDCCU checking account that could receive my transfer. I've wasted so many hours trying to work thru SDCCU mishaps. Yesterday I got through to a representatitve, then sat on hold for a total of 40 min today while the representative was trying to figure out how to help my pay off my loan. Loan paid off... I'm free from SDCCU forever!

These people are holding my auto loan hostage. They refuse to give the company I am refinancing with a 10 day payoff so that I can refinance my car. It takes 1hr on hold just to get some one on the phone. What company does this to their customers? I thought credit unions were "For The People". This is literally the worst company I have ever dealt with. I have been told this is all because of policies created and or enforced by Dana Weese the manager in charge.

They used to be great years ago when they were the little guy but now they are the big bank and its gotten to their heads. The last year was horrible. I asked to have my bill payer plus shut off because I didn't use it and it never was shut off. Sent me a debit card that was hacked before I even activated it. Tried to do a simple wire transfer from my account to an escrow account and they were little to no help and just didn't care. So many better credit unions out there from what I've been told. I'll be closing my account tomorrow after 20 years of business.

Of all the mobile banking that I have done San Diego Credit Union is by far the worst. The time spent the frustration Felt the times that I’ve had to deleted the app and start over again changed my passwords call them up, you may wonder why I’m still banking with San Diego Credit Union, automated depositt or I would long Since begun without without a backwards glance..... to be fair however they Staff has always treated me patiently when I was in the depth of frustration......

Bill payer plus is not allowing me to alter transactions on auto pay. I am only able to cancel a payment but unable to change the amount or to turn off auto pay. Further, I am not able to delete the payee. I have called SDCCU twice regarding this and twice, they tried to fix it but I still have not had any resolution. Instead, I have to go in and cancel month by month by month and so on. It's incredibly annoying. I will call the corporate headquarters and escalate but wanted to share my experience here in case anyone else if having a similar experience.

Be careful if you agreed to "Loan Payment Relief" option. This bank was clever in adding terms on their website after the initial release of the payment option. We were one of the unfortunate ones that applied in the very beginning of the COVID-19 program and qualified for the 90 day pause in payment but when that expired, we tried to reinstate our regular mortgage payment and was told that we had accrued interest and the loan was extended with that interest. Nowhere did they state those details when we applied for the payment deferment. They also drug their feet in setting up our ACH payment that was already being used and cause the loan to be delinquent. So, we decided to refi into a much better rate from a "BETTER BANK" however, because of the mess SDCCU caused, we barely qualified for the refi because of the change of credit score they caused! Fortunately, we worked with the credit bureaus and fixed the mess. This is what they added at the bottom of their website shortly after they promoted the option: "You must qualify for the deferment program and certain restrictions apply. If your loan is approved for a deferment, interest will continue to accrue during the deferment period. Deferring a payment may extend the original term and increase total finance changes. In my opinion, "They have grown into the same "Big bank" they like to market against and claim the are the "BEST CREDIT UNION" 21 YEARS in a row by the Union-tribune reader poll?? Who voted for that?? Find a small credit union if you can!

OK. They increased the amount I owe without letting me know it. I found out when I see a payment past due but all my payment are on time as scheduled. When I called, they say it is because my car insurance wasn't reported to them so they have to make me pay for the insurance. Shouldn't I be notified before making the decision? My car was insured since the day 1. I provided the proof of insurance to them, now they are really taking their time to get back to me.

someone stole my identity and opened an account here. After submitting a dispute it took 2 phone calls of over 30 minutes ans 2 trips to a branch plus a police report for them to consider taking it off my credit report. Everyone i talk to says just pay the small amount and we will deal with it. Really not nice at all.
