Regions is debiting online payments even before the checks are cashed or even received by the payee. Some payees can only receive physical checks, so if this is the case, Regions physically prints and mails to these payees. I used their online payments to pay rent with a Delivery date of 01/29/2022.. The funds were debited from my account on 1/31/2022, so I assumed that the rent was paid. On 02/02/2022, I received notification that my rent was late. I physically visited the office and let them see that the funds had been withdrawn, and they stated that they had not received the check. The apartment manager and I called Regions Customer Service and sat on hold for 30 minutes then finally had a couple of answers. I asked for a copy of the check that had been debited, so that we could investigate where the funds went. I was informed that they could not produce the copy because the check had not been cashed, yet. The Regions customer rep. said they could place a stop payment on the missing check and refund the amount or send another check. I had to write a physical check for my rent and wait for Regions to credit the $1604.82 back to my account. I think it strange that they can set their rules to cash a check that has not been presented for payment. I was also made aware that Regions outsources their online payment services to another company.

Hi, Chris. If you're using Online Bill Pay to make these payments and have run into any issues, we'd recommend speaking with our Electronic Banking team at 800-472-2265. They should be able to review these transactions to further assist. -Tyler

Absolutely predatory behavior! Charges will be pending for days, some charges randomly disappear and it will show you have more money than you exactly do. Before you know it you're negative hundreds of dollars and hit with a overdraft fee. I have NEVER been negative in any account UNTIL I switched to Regions. I budget accordingly yet I'm always negative. It's really frustrating when money gets deposited into my account and suddenly charges from a week ago post and bam! There goes $500 of my check!

This bank has no regard for the challenges of small business owners. Even if your a long term client with multiple accounts, loans and commercial property real estate loans. Take your business elsewhere!

I received a gift card a few Christmas’s ago. There wasn’t much left on the gift card but they closed the account even though the expiration was 2024 and would not open it back up and give me the money unless I could tell them what all was purchased on the card (years ago) or the original amount. They said I had to get the original buyer to go to the bank they purchased it at to have it reactivated.

    Response from the owner

Hi, Ken. We understand this caused an inconvenience to you. You may need to do this. or we can get you in touch with our Gift Card Customer Service team. If you send over an email with your phone number to [email protected], we'll get you transferred over to speak with them directly. -Tyler

Regions placed my Visa card payment into the wrong account so I called to have it corrected. I had the cancelled check where Regions had cashed it. I told the representative that I had the cancelled check in my hand, instead of saying she would search for it and see if there was a mistake she basically called me a liar. I asked for a corrected statement and they refused. I have been a customer for over 35 years and they have zero loyalty. All I wanted was an apology and the correct statement and it was too much to ask.

Today I fulfilled a recently-developed banking goal of mine, and I want to thank Regions for providing me with the inspiration to do so. You see, my wife and I have been banking with Regions for almost 20 years. We've been loyal Regions customers for all the years of our marriage, with all of our money transactions taking place almost exclusively with Regions, including taking out many personal loans and spending many thousands on Regions RLOCs. In the more difficult years in the past, we even paid some hefty overdraft fees a few times. Through all of this, we stuck with Regions, and we promoted Regions to others via word-of-mouth. That all changed this month. We never thought we would make a switch to another bank. We didn't really have a reason to go through that trouble, and we were loyal to Regions. Nevertheless, this month I was shocked (but really not too surprised, in light of the trends in society and industry these days) to log onto my online banking and have an promotion of the LGBTQ agenda shoved in my face, thus alienating me as a conservative Christian who believes and promotes traditional family values. As if that were not enough, once I got away from the home screen and into my personal account management screens, Regions continued to shove the LGBTQ promotional messages down my throat with blurbs at the bottom of the screen. When I wrote Regions to complain about this, they firstly copied and pasted a silly "inclusivity" statement in their reply, and then they shut off the messaging where I could no longer reply to that thread. That was all the hint I needed to know I was being shown the door, and I was happy to oblige. I immediately set about my plan for transitioning to a new bank(s), and I couldn't be any happier with the result. We are now members of two fantastic local chains, realizing we should have done this long ago. So, I sincerely thank Regions for foolishly chasing me off. It's bad for Regions to lose great customers like us (and our financial assets have grown considerably since those earlier years), but it's great for us to be with banks that focus solely on providing us exceptional banking services and refuse to participate in the social engineering that is fashionable among institutions and companies that wish to earn accolades from the progressive community at the expense of their customer base. A note on this "inclusiveness" push that Regions has been convinced by someone to undertake: Since when have minorities and LGBTQ individuals been excluded from any services that Regions offers its customers? The answer is simple: They never have been. What Regions has participated in is an effort to marginalize those like myself who love LGBTQ persons but are disgusted with the sinful lifestyle and the detrimental impact upon society that the LGBTQ political agenda has wrought. So, what Regions has accomplished is actually excluding people like me from their banking services. What a foolish thing to do, and the employee ought to be fired who dreamed up this idiocy or the consultants who sold this to Regions executives ought to be sent packing. What a ridiculous statement Regions has put out, a statement far from reality that is full of virtue-signaling, and virtue-signaling always has the nasty side-effect of attacking others in order to promote oneself. So, thank you for telling my wife and I (and children and friends, relatives, and clients) that you do not want us to bank with you. As a result, we found two banks that do want us to bank with them, and we could not be any happier. Thank you, Regions!

When you have a positive balance and make a debit card purchase that doesn't show right away when it's suppose to they give you an overdraft fee for a different item even though the account is still positive but you also put in more deposits in the account to make sure it stays positive but you still end up being in the negative when the app shows positive as well as online banking. the representative said they care more about their banking needs than the customers.

If I had the ability to give zero stars, I would. Absolute most horrible bank to ever deal with. Their reps are very dishonest, unprofessional, condescending and plum out, downright rude for no reason. If you don't like your job, then quit, their are many others more qualified that will take your place. Regions, I suggest you integrate more efficient hiring practices. We all know how most of your employees get their jobs in the first place! Had one of their reps literally, completely lie over the phone and say my account was in collections when I hadn't even been past my grace period. When I said I was actually calling to pay it off in full, she then said that they do not accept payments over the phone. That I would have to mail them a check, or go to a local bank. Okay people, it's 2018, who doesn't accept payments over the phone? Funny thing, I spoke to a rep last week, informing them I was going to be paying this off in full this week...I was told then that I could make payment over the phone with my Visa debit card, yet today, was rudely spoken to and told No. I recommend anyone and everyone 1) never do business with this bank due to unfair, deceptive and malicious business practices and 2) if you have an account (s), close all of them IMMEDIATELY and do business with a more trustworthy and ethical company. Big banks like this DO NOT deserve our business. Try a smaller, localized bank or credit union and start hitting these big banks where it hurts, after all, you're just a number to them!

I am so disappointed with the service and treatment that I have received while applying for a HELOC from Regions. I was literally approved for this note in September. Now that the rates have bottomed out, Regions suddenly has 10 reasons why I don't qualify. How did I qualify in September? What about last January when I purchased this home? This is the 5th time that I have applied for a Mortgage at Regions in the last 10 years. Every time they drag me through the mud...
