Do NOT rent a property with a Remax property manager. Horrible experience all around. The property was not ready to be rented upon moving in and required numerous essential repairs (13 contractor visits - electrician, plumber, pest control, hvac, etc - which meant phone calls, arranging times, being home, juggling my child's nap schedule etc) and each repair I had to contact the manager repeatedly to get done. In order to deal with a rat problem (that went on for 4 months) we had to threaten to move out. Even then, we were left to actually remove the trapped rats (7 of them!) ourselves or listen to them scream in sticky traps. After moving out and being told everything was okay, they waited until the last minute to return our deposit, charged us a cleaning fee which was unwarranted, along with repairs which were unjustified. And when I called to complain, I was treated incredibly rudely and dismissed and told I should be grateful I wasn't charged for more. When I mentioned filing a police report I was told it was a civil case and the police would do nothing and "not to threaten them."

On 2/27/18 I contacted Susan Jubilee regarding a property. I informed her when I would need the property and she immediately stated she would not be able to show it to me. I informed her that I possibly would have another person interested in the property. I asked her when she would be able to show the location and she stated she changed her mind in showing me. Susan was very rude, not letting me get a word in, being very nasty. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she told me she could not provide the information and HUNG up in my ear. I called back to speak to her supervisor Cathy Eckart only for her to have a nasty attitude as well and to tell me a customer she did not believe Susan would do that. Both employees were unprofessional and Cathy basically laughed the matter off when I told her the call was recorded. My next step will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, maybe they will be able to assist me better than Remax Alliance. How unprofessional is that to have a realtor hang up in your ear due to me inquiring about a property?
I am sorry you felt you were treated unprofessionally during your phone calls. What you failed to mention in your review was the period you wanted to rent the property was not during a time frame acceptable to the property owner. And most importantly, no person in our firm is required to listen to cursing and the vulgar language you used in both conversations. I asked to hear the recorded conversation you said you had with REALTOR Jubilee which you never shared. I am confident that once you share the recording, any professional association would agree that conversations such as yours are unacceptable. We wish you the best in your search for a home.

I cannot say enough positive things about the Dunbar team at REMAX Alliance. I am currently renting a townhome in VA beach and have been there since May. I am a military member, and was trying to get a quick turn around after returning from deployment and canceling my apartment lease for a larger home. After doing some research online, I decided to look into a few homes represented by the Dunbar's. After calling and leaving a message, they promptly returned my call and set up an appointment for the following day to look at two rental properties. They were more than willing to work with my work schedule and offered to show the properties on a Saturday morning. Mr. Dunbar was not only on time for the appointments, but he was more than willing to answer every question we had, and gave us all the time we needed to walk through the townhomes on our own. I felt little to no pressure to rent, and I really felt they were there to help me locate the best possible rental for what I was looking for. I quickly turned in an application and a security deposit. Even after a little hiccup with my 1st choice property, I was able to settle on my 2nd choice (which in hindsight was a better choice anyway!). I couldn't be happier with the experiences I've had with the Dunbar's and RE/MAX Alliance. Would recommend them (and already have) to anyone renting in Virginia Beach!

What a headache. Renting from these guys is such a pain- their move out requirements are absurd and they only give you 2 options for cleaning services... Good luck getting most of your deposit back. Jan was great; highly responsive and was communicative throughout. However, due to the way that the company has formatted the move out expectations/ fees we are unlikely to use them again.
We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your experience. Our agents work very hard to provide the best service possible. We welcome all feedback so that we can be as efficient as possible. Please feel free to contact us 757-456-2345 for any additional concerns. Thank you.

We've been working with Steve Doll and his team since 2013. In the past 13 years Steve assisted us with a variety of real estate transactions in the state of Virginia. He is very honest, dependable, trustworthy and is always there for us if we have any issues to resolve. Although we live in New Jersey, Steve Doll and his team manage multiple rental properties for us in VA and we do not have to worry about anything as we know this Re/Max Team is there to handle whatever is needed to be done. We highly recommend Steve Doll and his team to anyone interested in purchasing a home or rental property in Virginia!

I would would strongly encourage anyone who is thinking about renting from this company think again .They make the the tents pay for everything for instance when moving it you have to get the gutters and fireplace professionally cleaned this is obserd why is property management company not paying for this ? In addition you can only use there preferred companies when moving out which is a rip off . I would recommend if you are considering this company think again or make sure you ask form move out guidelines prior if your military moving in from out of state I would look at other companies to rent from I wish I had .
Stephanie W I am sorry that you feel you had a bad experience with us but I would love the opportunity to speak to you about your specific situation. We strive to offer “Above the Crowd” services to all of our clients and customers. Please feel free to call me at the office at your convenience. Kathy Eckhardt, Associate Broker

After reading these reviews everything suddenly makes sense about the level of unprofessionalism I’ve experienced when dealing with Remax, from no return phone calls, no updates, to uncaring attitudes. You cannot get these people on the phone most times. It appears that they aren’t interested in you unless you’re making “bank,” (enough money for them to charge excessive fees from you) and I didn’t realize that until I read the reviews. I also noticed that with every negative review, instead of the company owning up to negligence or even trying to make the situation right, they came up with excuses, and that speaks a lot for a business.

Military members avoid Steve Doll at all costs! 13 year career with over a dozen moves with various rental properties and Steve Doll was hands down the most awful experience I have endured. Calls are not returned, the staff is consistently rude, and they treat you with complete disregard. They will take advantage of your uncertain timetable come vacating time and will make every effort to swindle you. MAKE SURE you find out who is managing the property you are considering renting so that you avoid the absolutely demeaning experience I had with Steve Doll. Deployments and training are difficult enough without having to deal with these self-serving crooks. Avoid!
Thank you for your review- Good or Bad we welcome all feedback, as we are ABSOLUTELY SINCERE when we say "Your Concern Is Our Priority." The allegations made here are very serious, and are even more disturbing to us since we have no knowledge of who you are. Not one single person in recent months has ever contacted us expressing this type of dissatisfaction. Within the members that make up the Steve Doll Team, we have a combined total of approximately 97 years of active duty service, and at least 25 or more military moves. That said, from all aspects we really do understand and know first hand the difficulties and stress that military families have to endure when they transfer. Our goal is to make that experience as simple and easy we can. We would love the opportunity to sit down and address each and every one of your statements and concerns if you would only be so kind as to contact us directly. We look forward to hearing from you, so we can at least be given the opportunity to correct any mistakes and clear up any misunderstanding, and make every attempt to provide a positive experience for you.

Worst renting experience of my life. My husband and I paid to move into a house that the owners were still living in. When the owners vacated we entered the property to find that the carpets were COVERED with dog feces and urine. The place was absolutely filthy and the carpets hadn't even been shampooed. When I called my property manager AJ about it he was awful. He had the carpets cleaned, which made the stains worse. Even their carpet guy said the carpets needed to be replaced. AJ asked me if I would be willing to "just put area rugs down..." Are you kidding me!?!? NO! My husband and I did not spend a single day in the house, Obviously!!! And I reported the issue immediately upon entering the property and they refused to give us our money back which was over 3000. We fought with them for two days and finally got a property manager of William e Wood to call them and handle it. At the end of the day it cost us 850$ to clean a house that we never even lived in! Stay away from this place! They are scam artist!!!

We have been clients of the Dunbar Team for many years. They have helped several of our immediate family members buy and sell their homes with happy results! Most recently, Jackie and Steve helped us sell our home of 25 years, and within a month they had it sold as one of the highest sales in the neighborhood. Now the Dunbar Team is helping us buy our dream home! Jackie and Steve Dunbar not only have the experience, negotiation skills, knowledge of the area, and follow up professionalism that you need in a realtor, but also have a very caring and generous spirt. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to help us through this life changing process. Sincerely, Tom and Mary Beth Kiernan Virginia Beach, Virginia
