Came in to exchange some 20 dollars for quarters and they refused to do because I am not their member. This bank just lost a potential customer forever. Thank you for your horrible service. FYI: after this horrible service treatment, I went to a local CHASE BANK and they exchanged dollars for quarters with no issues. I didn’t have to be their member in order for them to do the exchange. CHASE BANK cares about serving the people.

I have been a member, receiving great service from all staff for over 20 years back to the Golden Gate Credit Union site in the SF Federal Bldg. I had my daughter and grandchildren join as members of the PC family to begin their financial knowledge of MONEY and how it works. PC services have always been fantastic. Thank you for being there when I needed you.

ATM Machine ate $100 of mine I bank at a different credit union co-op. I went inside and after the machine ate my money and the people didn't care after I told them I wasn't a provident member. Wouldn't check there machine and only told me my only source of recourse is wait a week and file a dispute with my credit union . I need my $100 now not a week ! They simply didn't care and we're very unprofessional! I've made dozens of deposits in co-op ATMs never an issue never will I use provident for anything ever !

I think Provident Credit Union is the best. Absolutely no complaints. I was on the Board of Directors of Golden Gate Federal CU, which merged with Provident many years ago. Credit unions have advantages over banks --- no checking fees, for one. I believe Bank of America charges about $120/year for checking -- over 5 years that works out to $600! Sure there are fewer teller machines, but you can usually use any credit union teller machine without a fee. Wells Fargo once had the audacity to charge me $1 for getting my checking balance on an ATM instead of online! I like the flexibility of Provident's line of credit. There is a small annual charge ($25?), but I can take money out of my line of credit anytime, for as short or as long as I need. If I need and extra $75 one week before a paycheck, it's available, and the interest meter (7%) stops immediately when I pay back the loan. In other words, I don't get charged interest for an entire month or billing cycle, just the time I actually have the loan. I was at both Bank of America and Provident Credit Union today (Friday afternoon, a busy bank time). The Bank of America branch had only two tellers working, and the line was at least 20 people long. The Provident Credit Union branch line (Walnut Creek) at almost the same time was 3 or 4 persons long, with three tellers working, and a manager who would come out as needed. If you haven't used a credit union before, try it as a secondary account and see if it works for you. You might find that you don't need a big name bank anymore, and get better fees and rates with the credit union!

I've been a Provident member for a little over 10 years. At first it was difficult to unhook from a big bank (Chase, originally I was with WAMU,) as there were certain 24 hour features I've given up, but I don't get charged hidden fees and extra junk like that. Provident worked hard to retain my business and developed a personal relationship with me. They would explain what they could do to help resolve a feature I had before that I wasn't getting with them. I also have access to other credit union branch ATMs and ATMs throughout the country. I still miss certain features but the trade-off for personal service, no high fees and excellent rates on loans has been well worth it. If I have a credit transaction issue or stolen/lost card (knock on wood, I haven't), I have a 24 hour access line. I'm all over the Bay Area for business and personal reasons, so I stop at different branches to fulfill my financial needs. This branch is no exception to its high standards of service, always having friendly and professional tellers, managers that will answer questions the teller might not know, etc. While my main concern is getting business done, it's nice that every branch has a Kourig coffee maker I can grab a tea, coffee or hot chocolate depending on their supply. By no means does this make or break my opinion, as I go to the "bank" to complete financial transactions not free drinks, but it's a very nice and thoughtful touch to its branch members.

I really have to give props to Provident Credit Union, had an issue with the ATM misreading then failing to return my cash when I went to deposit on Friday night. Went in to the branch THIS MORNING, reported the issue, they sent in the report, and it's already fixed and I was credited the money I tried to deposit with no hassles and no drama. I really have to say that the employees at Provident are the most pleasant people I've ever dealt with in any kind of bank. Thank you Provident!

This "credit union" is worse than major banks in terms of how they treat their customers. After being a punctual house and car customer for more thans 5 years, they charge me the bad credit rating car loan rate and then they mess up my credit because they dont have an EFT relationship with a major national bank. They no longer notify you if a payment is returned as well.

Very rude. I made a cash deposit at the ATM through shared branching and it was put on hold for 7 days as a check. I called the 800 number listed as the branch's phone number and it isn't even the local number for the branch. The rep interrupted me and told me to call my credit union because she couldn't verify it was a cash deposit because she didn't work at the local branch. My credit union laughed at her stupidity and said there was no way for my credit union to put a hold on a transaction that didn't occur at their branch. I've never had such bad service at a credit union.

Provident has decided to completely block all access to your own financial data! With no warning they have blacked services like Mint or PersonalCapital from being able to access online banking. Even the service they (still) advertise on their site Quicken WebConnect is broken. Want to aggregate your financial information across multiple banks with PersonalCapital? NO Want to use Mint to track bill payments and reminders? NO Want to use Quickbooks Online or Xero to manage your business? NO They also completely bungled the roll out of this 'upgrade' with absolutely ZERO communication to members either before OR after the change. When you call and talk to them they give you a BS line about 'hackers' and rudely hang up. If their concern was actually security based, they could implement any one (or more) of many industry standard security procedures and still give members access to their own data. How about 2FA with a OTP? How about application specific passwords for aggregator sites? How about authorization of specific IPs/DNS sites? How about direct API connection to the services clients use? This change is completely short sited and will discourage anyone who lives in the connected world of 2017 to leave. It is not 1992, and while I can live with an online banking site that looks like it is 1992, I can't stay at a bank that sets up a walled garden and blocks customers access to their own data. This is an extinction level mistake.
