Can someone please explain why the VA would install the only Open MRI within 500 miles at Perry Point? A VA facility that doesn't even have an emergency room. I weclome any administrator to step up and provide any semblance of explanation that could marginally be described as sound and objective... forget rational... I dare you.
Heath, The Open MRI at the Perry Point VA Medical Center has been a wonderful asset for our Veteran patients throughout the VA Maryland Health Care System. Thanks to our inter-facility transportation system, we have Veterans that travel from several of our other VA medical centers and outpatient clinics to Perry Point because they are more comfortable receiving an Open MRI. We also utilize contracts with community providers to refer Veterans for an Open MRI closer to where they live and work if Perry Point is too far for them. Thank you. VA Maryland Health Care System

No wonder so many vets die in VA parking lots. All I did was call to see how to enroll. The operator I talked to was okay, but then transferred me directly to enrollment to ask them a question. Enrollment refused to answer the question (it was about if the picture guy was in, whatever that means), then started berating me because "that doesn't involve me" then started cutting me off from questions with "what do you want, what do you want" before hanging up on me. All I wanted was to get enrolled so I can continue getting my depression medication from active duty. Reading the rest of the reviews, this seems to be the entire staff. I'll just go through an real civilian doctor instead and hope it doesn't affect my claims. I understand I wont be treated as a soldier anymore, but it would have been nice to have been treated like a person.
Mr. Waner, I am sorry for the poor customer service you experienced when speaking with a staff member in the Enrollment Office at the Perry Point VA Medical Center. We strive to provide the best care possible to Maryland's veterans in the most courteous and efficient manner, but that obviously did not happen for you. I encourage you not to allow one poor experience to prevent you from enrolling for VA health care. You can enroll for VA health care online by visiting https://www.va.gov/health-care/apply/application/introduction. Once you are enrolled, you can call 410-605-7333 to schedule your first VA primary care appointment. During your first appointment, bring all of your prescribed medications so your VA primary care provider can review them and prescribed them from the VA. If you have any questions or concerns, you can always contact one of our Patient Advocates by calling 410-642-2411, ext. 25097. Thank you for your service! Sincerely, VA Maryland Health Care System

UNBELIEVABLE that this place exists! I'm amazed at the peace and solitude I find here. The staff are helpful and nice. You will always run into the exception wherever you go, so don't let one person's experience trouble you, strive to make your own (report them if they are terrible). They have many programs to help Vets. If you have substance abuse issues, PTSD, Homeless, physical disability, broke, anything really, they can help you. The meals are extremely wonderful and tailored to each individual. There are shuttles and buses that travel to Perryville, Elkton, Cecil County, Harford County, and to the Baltimore VA, as well as the MARC/AMTRAK trains.

No one ever picks up when you call. They never mail my meds so I have to drive and pick them up and they say it's my fault even though they don't mail them out. You won't get an appointment for months if you're lucky. I miss Chicago's VA so much.
Mr. Bable, We are very sorry that you were not satisfied with your recent experiences at the Perry Point VA Medical Center. Our goal is to provide exceptional customer service to all Veterans and their family members. I will have one of our Patient Advocates contact you to help address your concerns. Thank you. First time at a VA facility. Read reviews and was worried. The facility was very efficient and I was in for a PC appt and a dental appt got labs done and ever xrays in under 2.5 hrs. Everyone was helpful and nice. The facility is a little dated but everything seemed to be updated equipment.
Mr. Popp, Thank you for your recent five star rating of the Perry Point VA Medical Center. We strive to provide the best care possible to Maryland's Veterans in the most courteous and efficient manner. Thank you for your service and for allowing us to serve your health care needs. I wish they had negative 5 stars. Former employee, was so excited to finally get a job here! My dream job turned into a nightmare... between the cliques, very poor management and just MEAN, rude and ROUGH co- workers.. I had to make a choice to not be associated with such a negative, depressing company anymore. Which is sad bc I loved the Veterans and they need more people like me and maybe a handful of other workers I've met. It's just very sad that our Veterans get treated the way they do. They deserve the best. The VA needs a face-lift. My father who is a 20 year Veteran will NEVER go to the VA CLC!
Be Great, I am sorry you did not have a good employment experience at the Perry Point VA Medical Center. We strive to be the employer choice and to provide the best care possible to Maryland's Veterans. As the grandson of a World War I Veteran and the son of a World War II D-day Veteran, who both received their care at the Perry Point VA Medical Center, I am personally committed to our mission of service to Maryland's Veterans. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your time as an employee at the Perry Point VA Medical Center, but I truly feel blessed to work for such an incredible organization where we make an impact on the lives of our nation's heroes. If you are willing, I would encourage you to contact the Teri Emanus, the Campus Manager of the Perry Point VA Medical Center, to share you experiences so it can be used as a learning opportunity. Sincerely, VA Maryland Health Care System

I have had the most sad and disappointing appointment today with a Primary care provider. I made a change from Baltimore Va to Perry point Va because PP would be closer to me. I am new to the state of Maryland so I am still in the learning phase. Anyway today was horrible, Got the phone call in the morning from the new Provider and Boom attack mood like it was my fault that she was having a bad day or that she works there. She keep on repeating how can I help you, How can I help you. Didn't identified herself! didn't ask me how I'm I doing. She was just straight rude, with no compassion or a clue that the person on the other side of the phone is a veteran seeking care. This right here is very disappointing. I have reach out to the VA Patient Advocacy.
Ms. Shepard, I am sorry for the poor customer service you experienced when speaking with your new primary care provider at the Perry Point VA Medical Center. We strive to provide the best care possible to Maryland's veterans in the most courteous and efficient manner, but that obviously did not happen for you. I thank you for contacting our Patient Advocate Office to report this issue so it can be tracked and addressed, but I will also ask them to reach out to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your service! Sincerely, VA Maryland Health Care System

UPDATE: as of today's date, March 7th, 2021 despite being told in the response to my review below, there is been absolutely no effort made on the VA's part to address my concerns. It has been three weeks and I have not heard anything from anyone. Primary Care doctors seem out of touch with younger veterans, especially females. Misinformation placed in files, lack of listening, tests reccomended that put veterans health at risk. I had two procedures done where it was reccomended that any form of a stress test was not to be done for minimum of a year, as it could cause health issues up to and including death. Primary care doctor still moved forward scheduling it, even after being told this information. Thankfully, the pulimary doctor knew better and canceled the appointment. After countless complaints and requests to change primary, their fix to the problem was to assign a veteran with a history of MST with a male doctor, even after it was voiced that it would not be in the best interest of the patient. Dental is not any better. Wait times are months on end, they forget to call you back to schedule appointments/address concerns, refuse to use the benefit of community care with the reasoning they do not have the funds. When I expressed concerns about pain, misshapped teeth/short teeth (VA responsibile with the reason shaving down teeth helps with grinding teeth), I am now left with dificultly eating with the advice from the dentist of, and I quote, "just drink some protein shakes" as a solution to someone who is 5'6 and 103 lbs due to difficulty in chewing from lack of teeth being able to connect/in pain. Mental health department is a complete joke, from therapists making you feel even worse from when you come in, to med management belittling you and forcing medication that is voiced to have not worked in the past, but they know best, or at least have an attitude like they do. Tried multiple times reaching out to the patient advocate with no return phone call. Entire place needs to be cleaned house and staffed with people who are compassionate, understanding, or at the very least competent in their positions. The only people who seem to show they care are the receptionist staff and the Vets who direct phone calls. Even at the risk of potential retaliation in giving an honest review, I feel I would be doing a disservice in risking anyone else going through what I have, if not worse.

Avoid this Clinic for any care. Dr. Sempos and her team make it their goal to avoid giving you the care for things already addressed from previous doctors. Every staff member I have come in contact with has been rude and disgusting. I was berated by my nurse for having PTSD then she lied in my Medical Records saying she was completely warm and respectful during our encounter.
Mr. Perez, We apologize if any services you received at the Perry Point VA Medical Center did not meet your expectations. Our goal is to provide exceptional customer service to all Veterans and their family members. but it is obvious that this did not occur for you.
