DO NOT USE THIS BANK. I repeat, DO NOT USE THIS BANK. CHEATER BANK. My 60 year old mother had more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000) stolen from her account. Being 60, a simple debit card is used for her primary spending account. She knows what she spends and since it is a personal account and not shared, she doesn’t feel the need to check her balance like a hawk because, like most people her age, she knows what she spends. One evening she used her card, likely at a restaurant or other shopping location and her information was taken. The thief then used her card information to steal from her account in small increments at online retailers over a period of 60-90 days. Sometimes placing as many as five or more transactions a day, some $100, some $200 or more. By the time it was all said and done the theif has successfully stolen more than $10,000 from her account. A fraudulent investigation was opened within the bank. The police were also called and a criminal investigation ensued. Months passed and this bank only offered to return half of the money stolen. Half. Less than half. $5,000 was all that was refunded to the account. The bank stated it was my elderly mothers fault “for not knowing that she was being stolen from” while refusing to refund the full amount. All this during a PANDEMIC. When families, retirees, loyal bank customers and locals alike are all doing what they can to get by, this bank refuses to rightfully refund a loyal and hard working elderly customer the full amount stolen from an account in a proven criminal investigation. How utterly embarrassing for a company to behave this way. I could see if the numbers were higher, but at the $10,000 range, come on now. With how easy it is for someone to be taken advantage of in midst today’s technical era, especially an elderly person I urge EVERYONE to heed my warning and take this experience into consideration when thinking about which bank to TRUST with YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. If your loved ones currently use this bank, urge them to move to a trusted bank. It’s very simple to switch banks. I did. This could easily happen to you, your elderly parents & loved ones. Do not choose this bank. They will do you wrong the first chance they get.

I am the volunteer treasurer for the French-Canadian Society of CT. We are are a small charitable non-profit organization that conducts genealogical research for individuals and families. Our income is primarily based on memberships. We recently received notice from your bank that one of our deposits of $35.00 was returned to us along with a additional charge of $15.00. The check we deposited was not OUR check but that of a member, therefore we would have no way of knowing the status of that account yet we are inappropriately charged $15.00 for a situation out of our control. My understanding is that the Bank's policy it to charge both the the sender and the "sendee" for the returned check. I am a requesting an immediate rescinding of the $15.00 charge as it is noting but confiscatory. I am serious about this matter about this unfair additional charge and would look to change banks if there is no satisfaction to this matter. Ron Blanchette, [email protected]

Every week this branch goes down. The “supervisor” Kurt is useless. Poor attention to detail. Slow slow slow. Terrible bank. Terrible customer service. Like none. It’s all about their profits. It’s a shame they took over United Bank. Rather would have Rockville Savings bank.
