Shouldn't have to pay 3 dollar ATM fee for shared credit union banking

    Response from the owner

Chris, Unfortunately you were given some bad information by whomever your current institution is. Old Hickory Credit Union is not part of the shared credit union banking or CO-OP Shared Branching network and have never been. OHCU is however part of the CO-OP ATM network which is completely different. You should be able to check what ATMs are in that Shared Branching network at co-opcreditunions.org. That being said if we are the most convenient ATM location to you we would love the opportunity to serve you giving you full use of all our services. Check us out at ohcu.org.

I've done business with this credit union for more than 10 years, from loans to savings and I am sad to give them a one star as a financial institution. The service and people are so nice but actually watching after your money is what you want to feel secure in and I do not. After writing them a big check to deposit, it didn't clear for more than 3 weeks, after I made 2 phone calls and was assured it would clear and my money was available, they didn't cash the check, I feared it was lost during their moving locations so I cancelled the check. Several weeks later they sent me (not called me) a threatening letter because I had closed my account not wanting to do business with them. I told them to run the check. Once again WE had to go down to the bank to give them cash to clear out our account. They handled our money unprofessionally and they need to work being a good financial institution so people will trust them.

    Response from the owner

I always have an wonderful experience. Mrs Karen is great!!! She always keeps me laughing and is always willing the go the extra step to make my experience a pleasure. I remember back in May of this year. My wife and I were in the process of buying ours first home. Mrs. Karen went above and beyond to make sure we had all bank statements and everything else’s needed by our lenders.

    Response from the owner

Hi Marcus, thank you so much for your review. Customer feedback is invaluable to our team, and we're thrilled to know that your experience met your expectations. We hope to serve you again soon!

As a general rule, I only write positive reviews. However, I thought others should know about my experience. Short version: I went to open a commercial checking account today and was so dissatisfied with the customer service and lack of professionalism that I closed my personal checking and went to US Bank down the street. (I've been with US Bank but was recommended to work with them--by a US Bank employee, ironically--based on my individual needs.) Long version: Have you ever had an experience, typically with a part-time sales clerk, that didn't like their job and didn't want to be there, letting it show by being short and rude, but was going through the motions? Well, I have too, just not at a bank, not in a "professional" environment. The gentleman that was helping me seemed unsure how to open the account and called his supervisor for clarity and assistance. I had all of the proper documentation (EIN, Cert of Registration, tax registration, LLC articles of organization, etc.). The gentleman was not sure if my partner needed to be there although the paperwork clearly states that I am the managing member. I overheard his supervisor tell him that as long as my partner could come by to submit a copy of his identification, we could submit my documents so that I wouldn't have to come back. After finishing his conversation, he told me that I have to come back. Confused by the discrepancy, I followed up. He called his supervisor again. Similar conversation. Similar response (i.e. I need to leave and come back). In all honesty, I was getting annoyed at this point (20+ minutes in). He didn't seem to know what he was doing and didn't seem very interested in helping me. So I asked him if someone else could help me. Instead of,a "Yes sir, I'd be happy to get you the help you need. My apologies for any confusion" type of response. His reaction to my request was, "Why?" It felt confrontational. As a customer, I don't think it's my responsibility to explain myself, but I did. I told him that I didn't appreciate his unprofessional attitude and argumentativeness. He started arguing with me by saying "I'm not being argumentative." This is not a game I was wanting to play. I just wanted to open an account so I sat in silence, looked over my paperwork, and waited. After a few minutes had passed a different gentleman told me that I could wait in the lobby for someone to help me. I made a coffee and waited. Ten minutes went by (45 minutes into the visit) so I checked with the second gentleman who helped me and he informed me that when the assistant manager got back from lunch I would be helped. At this point I started daydreaming of my past experiences with other financial institutions, specifically with Rob, at US Bank down the street. I Imagined how I would have been treated if I had walked in with the same request. They've always been courteous, kind, and personable yet professional. So, after thinking about it for a few minutes, I decided to do business where I felt respected. I went to the teller (the second gentleman), closed my account, and invited him to let the assistant manager who was going to help me, to feel free to inquire with me about my experience. This could simply be a teachable moment. Everyone has bad days. I waited to see if anyone would contact me. No one did. Here we are. At the end of the day, relationships matter. It's never just about the money. If you want to feel appreciated and respected, I can't say not to work with OHCU (may be a one off bad day), maybe others think this is okay or normal, but I can say that US Bank down the street has been nothing but great. Best wishes to all, Robert Dunn P.S.If the guy who served me is reading this, no hard feelings, I just thought others should know. Take care of yourself. You guys are supposed to be small-town family style. Don't let the big banks out class you on that.

The place does not care about their members I've never had a late payment ever and they have drawn my account into the negative because they could not verify my address. I did change it they never made the change and they got returned mail I should pay because their tellers can not do the job. I am refinancing with TN credit union they treat my fiancé well.

The lady at the front was extremely rude to not only me but the guy she was helping out beforehand was loud and vocal about contents of his account I could hear how much money he had she was very short with him and demeaning. Avoid the older lady with the white hair she's horrible.

The worst. Had previously paid off an auto loan but recently spent two days being denied another although my credit is good. Never again. Go elsewhere.

This is a credit union, not a bank. The service is very slow, rates are extremely low, and goes off operation are inconvenient.
