Northeast Alliance Federal Credit Union Whitney Ave, New Haven

We recently went to the Credit Union for a car loan. I found Joyce the person who helped us very nice ,knowledgeable and helpful. We completed the application in the office and had the vehicle in one week without a problem. We were treated with respect and courtesy. I would recommend the credit union if you are going for a loan. My husband goes there often and has good experiences also. Treat people the way you want to be treated. You can catch more bees with honey rather than with vinegar.

NEAFCU has the worst customer service I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. From the rude tellers to the incompetent people on the phones. It often takes 3 or more phone calls to resolve a situation because they have no idea what they are doing. They are indifferent, offensive and rude. I despise them and have pulled all my direct deposit with the exception of a small amount I keep for vacations. So many other wonderful credit unions out there. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

NEA is a pretty bad institution. They hold your money for ransom, don't refund any ATM fees, place hold on portions of ALL checks deposited, sometimes for as long as a week. They are basically swallowing up all the smaller credit unions in the area. I used to be a member of Westchester Federal credit union which started as AT&T's credit union. They were good. NEA is bad. I've already opened an account with USAA. Just waiting for my checks and debit card to arrive in the mail so I can switch my direct deposit and transfer my funds out of NEA.

I give them three stars, because Joyce is so nice and knowledgeable. She's very helpful and patient with the customers, (Can we clone Joyce). However, I agree with the others. The tellers are not so friendly or nice, they always act like it's a bother. I hope and wish they extend their hours at least one night with this new merger.
