My experience with Kara D the loan officer was awful. She lacks attention to detail, timely communication, and knowledgeable responses. I will not use this credit union for my loan needs.

    Response from the owner

There are more than eighteen other financial institutions which provide banking services for the greater Mankato area. I got to 25 locations and stopped counting. Do not bank here. Unless you have a high balance, are wearing formal dress, and have had a fresh haircut or manicure, upper level management will not give you the time of day. I kept getting referred by five representatives and two managers to the "COO" for this two location credit union. After weeks of trying to talk to them about my employer not paying me and ONLY receiving THE BEST of service from everyone not making six figures, I finally drove down from Eden Prairie to visit this "Chief Operations Officer." Apparently, the "COO" whose office is in the lobby did not like the fact that I had no interest in talking to them and was only there to make my presence known. I was waiting for an apology (they never asked why I was there, they only made statements). They then put on a show of authority by getting me to move into their office where they then refused to allow me to shut the door and proceeded patronizing me like a layman who did not understand how credit unions or how the law works. I was able to sit through about three minutes of the Chief Operations Officer explaining why they can't immediately refund my $150 some dollars as if that's why I was there. I left and muttered something about my lawyer reaching out. 10 minutes later I get a call from some guy named Nick and guess what?! He left a voicemail AND emailed me! I replied asking him to please stop contacting me. They couldn't reach me by phone so they decided to just keep trying the same thing over and over again. Ya know, like us sane people do. I actually had to remind them that I have had an email address on file. It's 2021. I'm the only Patrick McLoone in the State. You can Google me. I have a bachelor's degree in business administration and 17 years customer service experience. I'm a Master of Ceremonies who's working on a Master's in Education so I can teach Communication to High School Seniors. These "Chief Officers" could not afford me at this point. Do not bank here. Consider instead trying somewhere else with executive level management that's a little more competent and capable but less much less indifferent. There has to be one out of these eighteen banks that function, right?

I was thankful to receive my car loan through this credit union. The customer service is terrible, whether you are chatting online, talking on the phone or in person. I haven't ever had a positive experience that wasn't through the app. Everyone has been short or disinterested in the process. I have tried to pay-off my loan and I have had to jump through hoop after hoop. I am very disappointed with how people are treated.

The lending policies of these credit unions has gotten absurd! Trying to get a loan just to build credit (with 100% of the loan as a deposit) should not require the amount of hoops that I've had to jump through! It's literally risk free. You literally have become what you claim you are not. It is easier for me to get a loan from a bank then from you currently.

I would highly suggest you to go to another credit union as this isn’t the one you want to be at. I switched from Wells Fargo in hope of getting better interest rates for loans in the future but I can say that Wells Fargo have provided better customer service. We got a loan through them and the guy took it upon himself to run my credit to get me a higher limit without my consent. I told him to never do that without my permission, again.

    Response from the owner

Thank you for your feedback. It is not part of our business practice to pull a credit score without member consent. Our management team would love to speak to you about your experience. Please call us at (800) 247-0522 and ask for a manager.

The bank is great; the people, tellers and in-person services are wonderful. But that's where it ends. Both their website and mobile banking app are cumbersome and not at all user friendly. We have several accounts but no one can get their mobile or online banking services to work - ever. The online support is worthless so we have given up on trying to use any of their online services. We always have to make time to go in to the bank to take care of business, or call to find out a balance or transfer money, which again provides great people and service. Please, please, please fix your online presence!

    Response from the owner

Thank you for your feedback Rob, glad our staff has been helpful but certainly not the overall experience we aim to provide our members. Earlier this year we did convert to a new online & mobile banking provider, sounds like there have been some issues getting your account setup. We'd love to go through the system with you one on one and show you how things work.

Staff member Trinnette (might be spelled wrong, but had to ask 6 times for her name, wasn't going to ask 6 more how to spell it) told her coworker who was going to process my car payment to tell me that the machine was broken. When I called her on this, she had her tell me that the machine doesn't work on weekends. I again called her on her lie and she said it's because "they can't do cash advances through the drive through". I explained that a woman did this for me about a year ago when I had to go on Saturday to make my payment, and I was told that "she shouldn't have done that". I asked if they really weren't going to take my money, at which time I was told, "I'm going to send your card back." She sent my card back and turned off the microphone to ignore me. At no point, drive-through or in lobby, has it taken more than 2 minutes to run my card to make my car payment. Having an employee lie to me twice and then still refuse my business is bad form. I have no idea how this place has won best bank 5 years in a row, when literally every other bank I go to is friendlier and more helpful than this place.

I believe Trent is a game player. He tells people different things on the same situation. This is a strong indicator about who someone is as a person and businessman.I would suggest not working with him and potentially not working with this credit union

    Response from the owner

I apologize for your experience with the credit union. We strive to exceed the expectations of our members and be their most trusted financial institution. We do want to be as consistent as possible. I would love to talk with you about your experience here. My direct phone number is (507) 386 8673. Thank you.
