I dont know what happened to you guys. My wife and I have been members for 5 years and the service all around has gone WAY down hill. Between the ATM constantly being out of service to being open at weird times to nobody seemingly knowing how to help or what protocols are. We've had alot of weird problems that have happened the last couple years with this credit union. The most recent problem was we were told there would be a 9 day hold on a check we received through an inheritance. Ok, apparently you guys are the only ones that put a hold on this particular bank the check was though, but whatever. Well now my wife calls today after the 9 days, when it still hasn't been released and is told "well its really 9 to 14 days but we will release a little". Oh, ok that would of been nice to be told. You guys USED to be great with service and that's the whole reason we banked here. Not anymore. I hate leaving bad reviews but I'm sorry guys we're just not happy and will be exploring other credit unions. Jason

    Response from the owner

Jason, I would love to call and discuss this in detail with you; however, I can't tell from the name who to call. Please call and ask for Andrea so we can resolve this. Unfortunately, the most fraudulent checks are Bank checks which is why holds are necessary and they can take some time to clear depending on the circumstances. As far as the ATM I would love to know which one as our ATMs are relatively new.

Having been a member here for over 20 years, the service has declined to the point where I can no longer justify staying. The ATM is a malfunctioning mess for the past several years and, despite reassurance it would be addressed, remains unchanged and a point of frustration. We have zero loans from the bank and it seems like anytime we try to do anything productive with our account, there is always a hiccup. With the exception of one or two reviews, all the 5 star Google reviews that bring up the average are from several years ago. We greatly miss the community vibe this credit union had several years ago… a time when your 6 year old could bring in a $5 check from grandma and cash it. Now we are told that the parent can’t cash it because it’s made out to the child, you have to jump through 20 hoops to get a minor account open for your child, but when the child finally opens their own account, they are charged a fee because they didn’t keep up with the minimum balance. A lot could be learned from the management that existed several years and several name changes ago.

    Response from the owner

Updated review- I'm not sure what's changed around here but they seem more interested now in collecting fees than having members. Local staff is still very courteous but they will not for any reason refund fees. Or even cut them in half to work with their members. God forbid you should have a mix up and need some help remedying the situation. They WILL hang you out to dry over $100 worth of fees. I can only guess they are struggling to stay in business. Original review- 3 stars....Got me approved for an RV Loan when no bank would, really helped jumpstart my credit rebuild. But it is very difficult to get ahold of anybody.

    Response from the owner

100% thrilled with our experience at Michigan Legacy. Not only have I done my banking here for years, I recently refinanced and opened a new loan. Adam, Andrea, & Nina are exceptional at their job & made the process seamless. We sold our trailer & our buyer had issues with her credit union - switched to Michigan Legacy & they had previous banks issues completely cleared with in a day. Cannot express the amount of gratitude we have with them!

    Response from the owner

Hi Shannon! Thank you for telling us about your experience! We are so happy that Adam, Andrea, and Nina were able to provide you with such an exceptional experience. We love hearing from our members and appreciate that you took the time to write this review and recommend us on Facebook!

decided to bank with them for the lower rate on my auto loan (was about .2% lower than my first offer from a competing credit union). thought it was a no brainer until i realized the amount of fees this credit union has. pay a fee to pay your loan? what!? they informed me after i called to complain that you could avoid the “convenience” fee (what’s convenient about paying money to pay your bill?) by setting up automatic payments which i am 100% oppose to. i like to be in control of when i pay a bill (i’m never late)… i accepted a credit card they offered me as well because it was essentially “free” with no hard credit check, a balance of $2,500 and no interest for a few months so i said why not? should have seen the fees on that one coming… i’ll keep it open for the higher credit utilization i’ll get from having it but will never use it… other than the lower interest rates, there’s really nothing incentivizing anyone to bank here. because what you end up saving in monthly loan payments, they get it back from you in constant fees.

    Response from the owner

Mr Bellant, there are multiple free ways to make your payment you can mail a check, the fees for payments online or over the phone only cover the costs we are charged for the service. There are also no fees on our credit card accounts, no monthly or annual fees. If I can clarify any additional misinformation please reach out and ask for Carma. I would love the opportunity to speak with you voice to voice. While we do fall short, I am confident we can rectify any misunderstandings.

Place has been nothing but a headache that's probably why they have gone through 3 different name changes since I've been with them. Customer service, what customer service it's like pulling teeth to get through to these people. Every time you ask for assistance they want you to go online because apparently nobody actually works at the buildings anymore. Definitely deserve the 1 star rating I'm giving them without a doubt. May 3rd 2021 Once again leaving a bad review I'm suprised this branch isn't shut down. Went to pay on my loan found out the lobby is closed not wanting to wait in the drive through for hours I called to find out why the lobby was closed. I was literally told it's closed because they have sent most of their staff to other branches. When i asked how else i could pay i was told to go online or use their ATM. First of all the online account management is harder to navigate than the seven seas. Second the ATM is ancient and is out of order more times than the McDonald's ice cream machine. Getting sick of the lack of effort at this location I will be looking into changing my bank permanently. Nov 7th 2021 Took $261 from my account with out my authorization on Thursday. Found out on Friday night so Saturday I talked to someone who says they will reverse the payment and they are sorry. However they only refunded the $61 and kept my $200. Because of their mistakes I've had to miss work and lose out on money plus lose the money they took. I advised anyone using this place to get out before it happens to you. Dec 9th 2021 This place continues to disappoint the lobby has been closed for almost 2 years. Staff is lazy and unfriendly I use to be able to just tell them what I need done now it's fill out this form fill out that form ridiculous. I see 4 people standing behind a counter and only 2 drive through windows how come the other 2 people can't run the inside counters other than pure laziness.

    Response from the owner

Justin, Thank you for letting us know your experience. We are working to ensure that everyone is helped in a friendly manner and transferred to the correct person with courtesy and friendliness. The staff will be trained to do a much better job.

I have been a member here for over 20 years...I just dont see the point anymore. I have put up with several merges and changes. I get better rates at credit unions im not a part of and get better service from big banks. I guess I don't understand what their draw is. If my VA disability didn't go here I would close it down immediately. I will be seeing how easy I can just make the change through the VA though. ...update...they did call and square away a few issues and I can respect that.

    Response from the owner

Mr. Burnett, we have not had a merger in over 8 years, I will reach out to find out what service issues you are experiencing and see if we can resolve them for you.

Been with them since it was Kensington Valley Community Credit Union I'm only with him now do to a loan I am still paying off it has gotten worse over the years at one point I got told you better go move to a different bank or you're not going to be able to bank anymore due to a car accident that was beyond my control. Once the loan is paid off this year I'm closing out my account I'm much happier where I am now and get treated like a person not a number

Their Machine ate my rent money and they told me that they can’t prove that the money is mine even though my card was just in their ATM they weren’t very helpful and then when my boyfriend called the lady was rude and even my actual bank Genisys said this seems really stupid and that I should’ve had my money back so now they’re making me make a claim and I’m getting evicted from my house for being late on my rent

    Response from the owner

Mayson please call me at 248-409-3147 to provide some information so we can properly investigate the transaction and who you spoke with.

I used to love this credit union. I just went to cash a check and they now have the most ridiculous system to make any transaction I have experienced in years. Fill out paper with information that they already have to do anything! How lazy on the part of staff! I will be changing my credit union if this continues!
