    The worst customer service and banking experience we have ever experienced. They repeatedly locked our accounts and refused to explain why, leaving us no access to our funds. Avoid this credit union at all cost. It took months to finally close our accounts due to all the hoops they make you jump through

    The pandemic definitely hit this credit union really hard, they closed down one location and stopped all of their share branches which means you have to go to the Chatsworth location. If you're lucky the ATM will have money to dispense but most times it doesn't same with the Northridge location. I've had too many issues with bills needing to be paid and my money is stuck either because I can't get money out of the ATM or I can't deposit money into the ATM to pay electronically. The staff is really nice though but the issues I've come across outweigh the good. I feel bad having to close my account here hopefully in the new year they will recuperate, that being said I will not be a part of their recuperating process.

Our Chatsworth branch location has a secure Express Deposit box located next to our ATM. Cash and check deposits can be made in the Express Box and are collected once each business day by 3:00 pm. All deposits are posted by the close of business.     Had a loan with them and kept a savings account with them…they charge a $5 a month inactivity fee! I expedited those practices from a bank not a credit union.

    Will not call me back . Won’t give me a current payment book . Super archaic, can’t do anything online . Thinking of letting them just have the truck back and getting something else . Every month gets worse and worse . They just won’t make it even close to easy to give them money. They have made the effort to call me back and have refunded me the fees I have paid to do phone transactions. Hopefully they will have the opportunity to pay using their website some day . For my part even though I prefer not to I’m going to sign up for auto payments. I do appreciate their efforts but dislike that I have to make a stink to get a response.

    Update today 2-14-2020. After this review was posted I seem to have finally gotten heard. I tried all other channels first however. Today they did have a loan manager employed and his name was Leo. First call came about opening time of and kept coming in all day afterwards. I spoke with him on first call and he said he was reviewing the loan app again. This isn't what I was after at all. I want the credit marks removed from all 3 agencies because of being rejected for a loan I qualified for. This is five months later but in all fairness he was at least on it. They never want to help remove a thing off a credit report because they're well aware it is no easy task.So to end this for now Im hoping they send me a very clear description in writing of why rejected and I would also like to know why a bank Im trying to do business with and am a member of scarred my credit at all.. This is not only a credit union it's a second chance credit union. I remember something I was told when I became a member. They don't report, I've had two more pretty significant problems in the last two weeks that are keeping them in 3 star zone. Oh make it 3 more , another today. a branch atm fee, $2.00? Think we've dead ended with this bank so Not going to mention the others >Thanks for trying Leo. My daughter and I have been working to establish her credit. You read some ideas and get a lot of people saying open a credit union account. Did that because I know they usually have better loan rates and easier standards for lending. We asked a teller what the criteria was to get an auto loan and were given a brochure. I won't have enough lines to write the entire experience down but can say for certain we got to the criteria needed to get an auto loan and exceeded it. Went to Toyota on a Sunday evening she picked a car and began the process of financing. Was Sunday no Matadors open and Toyota finance ran the numbers and came up with what I thought to be a good loan with good interest rate for first time buyer. I read after wards that a person with her credit score was getting financing at less than half the rate Toyota gave us. Went to Matadors and spoke with auto finance guy and he said yes that rate is the same as Matadors. We apply for the loan after explaining it was to refinance the Toyota loan. Three days later we get the rejection letter in the mail. They damaged her credit first by the inquiry and again because she was denied. They said she had to many open lines of credit at the time and that was why. She had four open lines three was the criteria. Well the fourth was a loan they were going to be taking over and they used it against her. Ridiculous. Then you go in to try to explain it and fix it and I can honestly say there is no actual trained loan manager in that credit union. No one in there qualified enough to even have a logical discussion with before posting them a bad review. I was a member here myself until I lost my job and they told me I no longer was worth the time it took to keep my account balances updated. Was advised come back again when working. Is this place a legal licensed financial Institution? Anyone ever check? A credit union makes money off making loans. If the policy is to fight your members and only say no then that's why they've had to close half the branches. There's more to add but this place really isn't worth any more of my time either. Go elsewhere for banking trust me go elsewhere. Their debit card is useless just about everywhere they have the Visa logo. Although the card does have the Visa logo.

    Beware of their hidden loan fees! In order to pay off a (non-mortgage) loan, they charged me $195 in extra fees. I was unable to find a reference to the fees in my loan documents. I asked Matadors to point me to where the fees were listed in my loan document and the loan officer said they are not in my loan document, however, I was still required to pay the fees in order to pay off my loan. I have filed a complaint with the CFPB & NCUA and I'm in the process of filing a complaint with the California Department of Business Oversight and the FTC.

    This Credit union is one of the worst ones if not the only one. First of all you cannot pay online your Bill's bc the dont have that option. NOT EVEN THAT... On the weekend you cannot even make call payments. I wish I had ignored the agent from Lending tree who recommended it to me. 😠 It is really disappointing to deal with this credit union. You only can pay by mailing them a check or phone calls in week days. Pls get your system upgraded... We are in 2019 now..

    Called in before to make sure I had all the info needed to open an account, when I got in they said they were not opening those kinds of accounts with speculations. Would have been great to know when I took time talking to a rep to make their job easier and not waste my time...

    Poorly run. One phone call will confirm how enthusiastic they are whoever answers the phone. Never had luck with them in loans. FICO score means nothing. Nit picking to find reasons to charge higher rates on loans. I used a third party to compare interest rates on a car loan and THEY got me a loan from Matadors at a lower rate!! Go figure!!! SoCal Gas has them on the list for REEL energy loans. Same story. Had better luck with another credit Union with far superior service!

    My dad lives way out in Chino Hills and I live in Woodland hills ..so it's very difficult for me to put it funds into his credit Union from the valley with LA traffic... so I found Matador FCU, they mad it more convenient & extremely easy..
