Buying your first home is a nervous wreck of a situation. Though I'll admit I've never gotten married or had a baby (yet!). I'm a very skeptical and distrusting. Probably a product of the post-great recession era. I did hours and hours and hours of research but somehow never felt prepared. I went into this thing carefully and sat patiently waiting for the perfect home for me. I ended up getting an AMAZING deal on a condo in Chicago. Duplex with 10 foot ceilings. Tons of space (for Chicago). Let's just say I walked into this place with $35,000 of equity. Well... I found out why... the place was in foreclosure and the sheriff was coming in a week. Gavin from Market Place Mortgage called up the owner's bank and negotiated with the bank's foreclosure lawyer. Dude, how do you even do that? lol He pushed the sheriff back to give us 2 weeks. TWO weeks to close the deal. Talk about close to the edge. We closed the deal in that two weeks with just a couple of days to spare. That was in February 2018. I got an excellent rate I still brag about this whole thing to people lol. Be skeptical.. of course.. take it slow and make wise choices. I would consider Gavin and Market Place to be a wise choice. I had a very cool experience!
