I have had an auto loan for my RV through Linn Area for approximately 5 years. I shutter to think about my checking account, IF I actually were to open one with Linn Area. REWIND! They were mediocre at the onset of our loan. But then, for NO reason, they tried to slam us with their own insurance about 4 years ago. They sent several letters stating we had NO insurance coverage for our RV. I have always kept up all types of insurance and have a SPOTLESS payment history! So I had my insurance lady send a copy. Weeks later, same thing. Did the same, and my insurance lady showed me the successful transmission receipt for the fax, and a couple weeks later, same thing! I called them, they were rude. I sent the insurance info myself and once again, I got the letter stating they were implementing their own insurance. I and my husband both called them. After a very stern warning from my husband to the woman on the line, they magically found the info! Fast forward 4 years, guess what, same thing! Only this time they got our info quicker. But the main problem was getting new coupons for my payments. I had to request them 4 times. The fourth time, I finally received them. Every time I called, they were rude. Their website is a complete waste. It just blocks access when it feels like it. It won't allow me to add my outside bank info for a payment. This is definitely a second rate bank and is obviously sinking further down. Look at the response to the negative reviews, they are just a reword of the same "We don't really care" aura saturating them.

I used to love this bank, and we have had mortgages through them for almost a decade. Since February 2020, they have been erroneously reporting missed payments to the credit bureau. When I inquired, they notified me that the escrow went up but they did not inform me nor did they change my payment. They said they would fix it. They didn't, and reported another missed payment in April. My husband went into the branch, during a pandemic, to sort this out. It was sorted out and my credit was fixed. Today I just got another notification that I now have THREE missed mortgage payments, when I indeed do not. I cannot wait to move our mortgage to another bank next month. These people have no idea what they're doing and they're messing with livelihoods.

I am done with Linn area. I live out of town now but was with Linn area when I was younger and still kept my car loan through them. first they were a good credit union, I have(soon to be had) my car loan with them, but they pulled out my payment twice and a day early. Causing me multiple overdraft fees, not to mention anxiety and stress. When I tried to get this corrected I was told I would get my money back the next day, but 4 days later it still didn't appear so I had to call them and was told it was put in my Linn area savings account. I talked to multiple people about this issue and no one seemed like it was a good idea to mention that it would be refunded to that savings account. Since I live 45+ minutes away this place has now cost me time, money, gas, stress, anxiety and good standing with my own bank. So thanks Linn area, get better.

I financed my first bike through LACU and they charged me an addtl $2,038 for insurance coverage w/o notice. They claim they sent me letters that I never received. Told me I needed to make payments by check. I had already purchased basic coverage through a private provider and faxed them proof 3x. They NEVER notified me of a need for additional coverage. I was assured the charges would be removed. Then, they sent a bill. If you want to work w/ a terrible and outdated business with rude customer service and long hold times (screenshot is current and I'm still on hold), then look no further. Avoid at all costs.

My husband and I have been banking here for about 2 and a half years, half of that time we have been out of state. They're always helpful and very nice. There have been a couple times where we called and got a particularly rude person on the line, but almost always they are very nice and great at helping. Even if you're keeping your bank account out of state!

They claim everyone is family, it's part of their slogan, but I guess I must be the black sheep. My credit score is low, I will admit that. So I cannot get a credit card or loan, that is fine and understandable. However what is not fine is the fact of having your card declined in the middle of purchasing groceries much to one's own embarrassment. What is not fine is multiple explanations of why it got declined, but the answer explained by management is my debit card has a limit of $100. Yes, this is not a typo. When I questioned this, I was told it was due to my credit score. That is right, I am being limited to spending my own money. I cannot use the mobile check deposit feature because of this either, however I can drive (which costs money) to a branch and do it there. This has to be the most ridiculous restrictions I have ever heard of. The original answer to why my card was declined is because of a 7 day hold on a 164 dollar check. I was told "we might not be able to collect on this check". The check came from a business! I opened an account here because I wanted something local. However my old bank had a debit card purchase limit of $3,000 and never put a hold on a check longer than 1 business day. These people will not treat you fairly if you have a low credit score. In fact I was told they did me a favor, because normally they would not of opened an account for me! Do yourselves a favor and bank elsewhere.
